BAN ³ Car Hérode, ayant fait arrêter Jean, l'avait fait lier et mettre en prison, à cause d'Hérodias, la femme de Philippe, son frère ;

KJV ³ For Herod had laid hold on John, and bound him, and put him in prison for Herodias' sake, his brother Philip's wife.

BAN ⁴ car Jean lui disait : Il ne t'est pas permis de l'avoir.

KJV ⁴ For John said unto him, It is not lawful for thee to have her.

TR1550 ⁴ ἔλεγεν γὰρ αὐτῷ ὁ ἰωάννης οὐκ ἔξεστίν σοι ἔχειν αὐτήν

BAN ⁵ Et voulant le faire mourir, il craignait la foule, parce qu'on le regardait comme un prophète.

KJV ⁵ And when he would have put him to death, he feared the multitude, because they counted him as a prophet.

TR1550 ⁵ καὶ θέλων αὐτὸν ἀποκτεῖναι ἐφοβήθη τὸν ὄχλον ὅτι ὡς προφήτην αὐτὸν εἶχον

BAN ⁶ Mais comme on célébrait le jour de la naissance d'Hérode, la fille d'Hérodias dansa au milieu de l'assemblée, et plut à Hérode ;

KJV ⁶ But when Herod's birthday was kept, the daughter of Herodias danced before them, and pleased Herod.

TR1550 ⁶ γενεσίων δὲ ἀγομένων τοῦ ἡρῴδου ὠρχήσατο ἡ θυγάτηρ τῆς ἡρῳδιάδος ἐν τῷ μέσῳ καὶ ἤρεσεν τῷ ἡρῴδῃ

BAN ⁷ de sorte qu'il promit avec serment de lui donner ce qu'elle demanderait.

KJV ⁷ Whereupon he promised with an oath to give her whatsoever she would ask.

TR1550 ⁷ ὅθεν μεθ᾽ ὅρκου ὡμολόγησεν αὐτῇ δοῦναι ὃ ἐὰν αἰτήσηται

BAN ⁸ Elle donc, poussée par sa mère : Donne-moi, dit-elle, ici, sur un plat, la tête de Jean-Baptiste.

KJV ⁸ And she, being before instructed of her mother, said, Give me here John Baptist's head in a charger.

TR1550 ⁸ ἡ δὲ προβιβασθεῖσα ὑπὸ τῆς μητρὸς αὐτῆς δός μοι φησίν ὧδε ἐπὶ πίνακι τὴν κεφαλὴν ἰωάννου τοῦ βαπτιστοῦ

BAN ⁹ Et le roi fut attristé, mais à cause de ses serments et des convives, il commanda qu'on la lui donnât,

KJV ⁹ And the king was sorry: nevertheless for the oath's sake, and them which sat with him at meat, he commanded it to be given her.

TR1550 ⁹ καὶ ἐλυπηθη ὁ βασιλεὺς διὰ δὲ τοὺς ὅρκους καὶ τοὺς συνανακειμένους ἐκέλευσεν δοθῆναι

BAN ¹⁰ et il envoya décapiter Jean dans la prison.

KJV ¹⁰ And he sent, and beheaded John in the prison.

TR1550 ¹⁰ καὶ πέμψας ἀπεκεφάλισεν τὸν ἰωάννην ἐν τῇ φυλακῇ

BAN ¹¹ Et sa tête fut apportée sur un plat, et donnée à la jeune fille, et elle la porta à sa mère.

KJV ¹¹ And his head was brought in a charger, and given to the damsel: and she brought it to her mother.

TR1550 ¹¹ καὶ ἠνέχθη ἡ κεφαλὴ αὐτοῦ ἐπὶ πίνακι καὶ ἐδόθη τῷ κορασίῳ καὶ ἤνεγκεν τῇ μητρὶ αὐτῆς

BAN ¹² Et ses disciples vinrent et emportèrent le corps, et l'ensevelirent ; et ils vinrent l'annoncer à Jésus.

KJV ¹² And his disciples came, and took up the body, and buried it, and went and told Jesus.

TR1550 ¹² καὶ προσελθόντες οἱ μαθηταὶ αὐτοῦ ἦραν τὸ σῶμα καὶ ἔθαψαν αὐτό καὶ ἐλθόντες ἀπήγγειλαν τῷ ἰησοῦ

BAN ¹³ Mais Jésus l'ayant appris, se retira de là sur une barque en un lieu désert, à l'écart. Et les foules l'ayant su, le suivirent à pied, de diverses villes.

KJV ¹³ When Jesus heard of it, he departed thence by ship into a desert place apart: and when the people had heard thereof, they followed him on foot out of the cities.

BAN ¹⁴ Et étant sorti, il vit une grande multitude ; et il fut ému de compassion envers eux, et il guérit leurs malades.

KJV ¹⁴ And Jesus went forth, and saw a great multitude, and was moved with compassion toward them, and he healed their sick.

TR1550 ¹⁴ καὶ ἐξελθὼν ὁ ἰησοῦς εἶδεν πολὺν ὄχλον καὶ ἐσπλαγχνίσθη ἐπ᾽ αὐτούς καὶ ἐθεράπευσεν τοὺς ἀῤῥώστους αὐτῶν

BAN ¹⁵ Mais le soir étant venu, les disciples s'approchèrent de lui, disant : Ce lieu est désert, et l'heure est déjà passée ; renvoie donc les foules, afin qu'elles s'en aillent dans les bourgades, et qu'elles achètent des vivres.

KJV ¹⁵ And when it was evening, his disciples came to him, saying, This is a desert place, and the time is now past; send the multitude away, that they may go into the villages, and buy themselves victuals.

TR1550 ¹⁵ ὀψίας δὲ γενομένης προσῆλθον αὐτῷ οἱ μαθηταὶ αὐτοῦ λέγοντες ἕρημός ἐστιν ὁ τόπος καὶ ἡ ὥρα ἤδη παρῆλθεν ἀπόλυσον τοὺς ὄχλους ἵνα ἀπελθόντες εἰς τὰς κώμας ἀγοράσωσιν ἑαυτοῖς βρώματα

BAN ¹⁶ Mais Jésus leur dit : Elles n'ont pas besoin de s'en aller ; donnez-leur vous-mêmes à manger.

KJV ¹⁶ But Jesus said unto them, They need not depart; give ye them to eat.

BAN ¹⁷ Et ils lui disent : Nous n'avons ici que cinq pains et deux poissons.

KJV ¹⁷ And they say unto him, We have here but five loaves, and two fishes.

BAN ¹⁸ Et il dit : Apportez-les-moi ici.

KJV ¹⁸ He said, Bring them hither to me.

BAN ¹⁹ Et après avoir commandé aux foules de s'asseoir sur l'herbe, il prit les cinq pains et les deux poissons, et levant les yeux au ciel, il prononça la bénédiction. Puis ayant rompu les pains, il les donna aux disciples, et les disciples les donnèrent à la foule.

KJV ¹⁹ And he commanded the multitude to sit down on the grass, and took the five loaves, and the two fishes, and looking up to heaven, he blessed, and brake, and gave the loaves to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude.

BAN ²⁰ Et tous mangèrent, et furent rassasiés ; et on emporta douze paniers pleins des morceaux qui restaient.

KJV ²⁰ And they did all eat, and were filled: and they took up of the fragments that remained twelve baskets full.

TR1550 ²⁰ καὶ ἔφαγον πάντες καὶ ἐχορτάσθησαν καὶ ἦραν τὸ περισσεῦον τῶν κλασμάτων δώδεκα κοφίνους πλήρεις

BAN ²¹ Or ceux qui avaient mangé étaient environ cinq mille hommes, sans compter les femmes et les petits enfants.

KJV ²¹ And they that had eaten were about five thousand men, beside women and children.

TR1550 ²¹ οἱ δὲ ἐσθίοντες ἦσαν ἄνδρες ὡσεὶ πεντακισχίλιοι χωρὶς γυναικῶν καὶ παιδίων

BAN ²² Et aussitôt, Jésus obligea ses disciples à monter dans la barque et à le précéder sur l'autre rive, pendant qu'il renverrait la foule.

KJV ²² And straightway Jesus constrained his disciples to get into a ship, and to go before him unto the other side, while he sent the multitudes away.

TR1550 ²² καὶ εὐθέως ἠνάγκασεν ὁ ἰησοῦς τοὺς μαθητὰς αὐτοῦ ἐμβῆναι εἰς τὸ πλοῖον καὶ προάγειν αὐτὸν εἰς τὸ πέραν ἕως οὗ ἀπολύσῃ τοὺς ὄχλους

BAN ²³ Et après qu'il l'eut renvoyée, il monta sur la montagne, à l'écart, afin de prier ; et comme le soir était venu ; il était là seul.

KJV ²³ And when he had sent the multitudes away, he went up into a mountain apart to pray: and when the evening was come, he was there alone.

TR1550 ²³ καὶ ἀπολύσας τοὺς ὄχλους ἀνέβη εἰς τὸ ὄρος κατ᾽ ἰδίαν προσεύξασθαι ὀψίας δὲ γενομένης μόνος ἦν ἐκεῖ

BAN ²⁴ Or la barque, déjà au milieu de la mer, était battue par les flots ; car le vent était contraire.

KJV ²⁴ But the ship was now in the midst of the sea, tossed with waves: for the wind was contrary.

TR1550 ²⁴ τὸ δὲ πλοῖον ἤδη μέσον τῆς θαλάσσης ἦν βασανιζόμενον ὑπὸ τῶν κυμάτων ἦν γὰρ ἐναντίος ὁ ἄνεμος

BAN ²⁵ Mais à la quatrième veille de la nuit, il vint à eux, marchant sur la mer.

KJV ²⁵ And in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went unto them, walking on the sea.

TR1550 ²⁵ τετάρτῃ δὲ φυλακῇ τῆς νυκτὸς ἀπῆλθεν πρὸς αὐτοὺς ὁ ἰησοῦς περιπατῶν ἐπὶ τῆς θαλάσσης

BAN ²⁶ Et les disciples, le voyant marcher sur la mer, furent troublés, disant : C'est un fantôme ! Et de frayeur ils crièrent.

KJV ²⁶ And when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, It is a spirit; and they cried out for fear.

TR1550 ²⁶ καὶ ἰδόντες αὐτὸν οἱ μαθηταὶ ἐπὶ τὴν θαλάσσαν περιπατοῦντα ἐταράχθησαν λέγοντες ὅτι φάντασμά ἐστιν καὶ ἀπὸ τοῦ φόβου ἔκραξαν

BAN ²⁷ Mais aussitôt Jésus leur parla, disant : Rassurez-vous ; c'est moi, n'ayez point peur.

KJV ²⁷ But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid.

TR1550 ²⁷ εὐθὲως δὲ ἐλάλησεν αὐτοῖς ὁ ἰησοῦς λέγων φαρσεῖτε ἐγώ εἰμι μὴ φοβεῖσθε

BAN ²⁸ Et Pierre, lui répondant, dit : Seigneur, si c'est toi, ordonne que j'aille vers toi sur les eaux.

KJV ²⁸ And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water.

TR1550 ²⁸ ἀποκριθεὶς δὲ αὐτῷ ὁ πέτρος εἰπεν κύριε εἰ σὺ εἶ κέλευσόν με πρὸς σὲ ἐλθεῖν ἐπὶ τὰ ὕδατα

BAN ²⁹ Jésus lui dit : Viens. Et Pierre, étant descendu de la barque, marcha sur les eaux et vint vers Jésus.

KJV ²⁹ And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus.

TR1550 ²⁹ ὁ δὲ εἶπεν ἐλθέ καὶ καταβὰς ἀπὸ τοῦ πλοίου ὁ πέτρος περιεπάτησεν ἐπὶ τὰ ὕδατα ἐλθεῖν πρὸς τὸν ἰησοῦν

BAN ³⁰ Mais voyant le vent, il eut peur ; et comme il commençait à enfoncer, il s'écria, disant : Seigneur, sauve-moi !

KJV ³⁰ But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me.

TR1550 ³⁰ βλέπων δὲ τὸν ἄνεμον ἰσχυρὸν ἐφοβήθη καὶ ἀρξάμενος καταποντίζεσθαι ἔκραξεν λέγων κύριε σῶσόν με

BAN ³¹ Et aussitôt Jésus, ayant étendu la main, le saisit et lui dit : Homme de petite foi, pourquoi as-tu douté ?

KJV ³¹ And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?

TR1550 ³¹ εὐθέως δὲ ὁ ἰησοῦς ἐκτείνας τὴν χεῖρα ἐπελάβετο αὐτοῦ καὶ λέγει αὐτῷ ὀλιγόπιστε εἰς τί ἐδίστασας

BAN ³² Et quand ils furent entrés dans la barque, le vent s'apaisa.

KJV ³² And when they were come into the ship, the wind ceased.

TR1550 ³² καὶ ἐμβάντων αὐτῶν εἰς τὸ πλοῖον ἐκόπασεν ὁ ἄνεμος

BAN ³³ Et ceux qui étaient dans la barque vinrent et se prosternèrent devant lui, disant : Tu es véritablement le Fils de Dieu.

KJV ³³ Then they that were in the ship came and worshipped him, saying, Of a truth thou art the Son of God.

BAN ³⁴ Puis ayant passé à l'autre bord, ils vinrent dans le pays de Génézareth.

KJV ³⁴ And when they were gone over, they came into the land of Gennesaret.

BAN ³⁵ Et les gens de ce lieu-là l'ayant reconnu, envoyèrent par toute la contrée d'alentour, et on lui amena tous les malades.

KJV ³⁵ And when the men of that place had knowledge of him, they sent out into all that country round about, and brought unto him all that were diseased;

TR1550 ³⁵ καὶ ἐπιγνόντες αὐτὸν οἱ ἄνδρες τοῦ τόπου ἐκείνου ἀπέστειλαν εἰς ὅλην τὴν περίχωρον ἐκείνην καὶ προσήνεγκαν αὐτῷ πάντας τοὺς κακῶς ἔχοντας

BAN ³⁶ Et ils le priaient qu'ils pussent seulement toucher le bord de son vêtement, et tous ceux qui le touchèrent furent guéris.

KJV ³⁶ And besought him that they might only touch the hem of his garment: and as many as touched were made perfectly whole.

TR1550 ³⁶ καὶ παρεκάλουν αὐτὸν ἵνα μόνον ἅψωνται τοῦ κρασπέδου τοῦ ἱματίου αὐτοῦ καὶ ὅσοι ἥψαντο διεσώθησαν
