KJV ² But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting.

LSG ² (5:1) Et toi, Bethléhem Éphrata, Petite entre les milliers de Juda, De toi sortira pour moi Celui qui dominera sur Israël, Et dont l'origine remonte aux temps anciens, Aux jours de l'éternité.

VULC ² [Et tu, Bethlehem Ephrata,
parvulus es in millibus Juda ;
ex te mihi egredietur qui sit dominator in Israël,
et egressus ejus ab initio,
a diebus æternitatis.

WLC ² לָכֵ֣ן יִתְּנֵ֔ם עַד־ עֵ֥ת יוֹלֵדָ֖ה יָלָ֑דָה וְיֶ֣תֶר אֶחָ֔יו יְשׁוּב֖וּן עַל־ בְּנֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

KJV ³ Therefore will he give them up, until the time that she which travaileth hath brought forth: then the remnant of his brethren shall return unto the children of Israel.

LSG ³ (5:2) C'est pourquoi il les livrera Jusqu'au temps où enfantera celle qui doit enfanter, Et le reste de ses frères Reviendra auprès des enfants d'Israël.

VULC ³ Propter hoc dabit eos usque ad tempus in quo parturiens pariet,
et reliquiæ fratrum ejus convertentur ad filios Israël.

WLC ³ וְעָמַ֗ד וְרָעָה֙ בְּעֹ֣ז יְהוָ֔ה בִּגְא֕וֹן שֵׁ֖ם יְהוָ֣ה אֱלֹהָ֑יו וְיָשָׁ֕בוּ כִּֽי־ עַתָּ֥ה יִגְדַּ֖ל עַד־ אַפְסֵי־ אָֽרֶץ׃

KJV ⁴ And he shall stand and feed in the strength of the LORD, in the majesty of the name of the LORD his God; and they shall abide: for now shall he be great unto the ends of the earth.

LSG ⁴ (5:3) Il se présentera, et il gouvernera avec la force de l'Éternel, Avec la majesté du nom de l'Éternel, son Dieu: Et ils auront une demeure assurée, Car il sera glorifié jusqu'aux extrémités de la terre.

VULC ⁴ Et stabit, et pascet in fortitudine Domini,
in sublimitate nominis Domini Dei sui :
et convertentur,
quia nunc magnificabitur usque ad terminos terræ.

WLC ⁴ וְהָיָ֥ה זֶ֖ה שָׁל֑וֹם אַשּׁ֣וּר ׀ כִּֽי־ יָב֣וֹא בְאַרְצֵ֗נוּ וְכִ֤י יִדְרֹךְ֙ בְּאַרְמְנֹתֵ֔ינוּ וַהֲקֵמֹ֤נוּ עָלָיו֙ שִׁבְעָ֣ה רֹעִ֔ים וּשְׁמֹנָ֖ה נְסִיכֵ֥י אָדָֽם׃

KJV ⁵ And this man shall be the peace, when the Assyrian shall come into our land: and when he shall tread in our palaces, then shall we raise against him seven shepherds, and eight principal men.

LSG ⁵ (5:4) C'est lui qui ramènera la paix. Lorsque l'Assyrien viendra dans notre pays, Et qu'il pénétrera dans nos palais, Nous ferons lever contre lui sept pasteurs Et huit princes du peuple.

VULC ⁵ Et erit iste pax :
cum venerit Assyrius in terram nostram,
et quando calcaverit in domibus nostris,
et suscitabimus super eum septem pastores
et octo primates homines ;

WLC ⁵ וְרָע֞וּ אֶת־ אֶ֤רֶץ אַשּׁוּר֙ בַּחֶ֔רֶב וְאֶת־ אֶ֥רֶץ נִמְרֹ֖ד בִּפְתָחֶ֑יהָ וְהִצִּיל֙ מֵֽאַשּׁ֔וּר כִּֽי־ יָב֣וֹא בְאַרְצֵ֔נוּ וְכִ֥י יִדְרֹ֖ךְ בִּגְבוּלֵֽנוּ׃

KJV ⁶ And they shall waste the land of Assyria with the sword, and the land of Nimrod in the entrances thereof: thus shall he deliver us from the Assyrian, when he cometh into our land, and when he treadeth within our borders.

LSG ⁶ (5:5) Ils feront avec l'épée leur pâture du pays d'Assyrie Et du pays de Nimrod au dedans de ses portes. Il nous délivrera ainsi de l'Assyrien, Lorsqu'il viendra dans notre pays, Et qu'il pénétrera sur notre territoire.

VULC ⁶ et pascent terram Assur in gladio,
et terram Nemrod in lanceis ejus,
et liberabit ab Assur cum venerit in terram nostram,
et cum calcaverit in finibus nostris.

WLC ⁶ וְהָיָ֣ה ׀ שְׁאֵרִ֣ית יַעֲקֹ֗ב בְּקֶ֙רֶב֙ עַמִּ֣ים רַבִּ֔ים כְּטַל֙ מֵאֵ֣ת יְהוָ֔ה כִּרְבִיבִ֖ים עֲלֵי־ עֵ֑שֶׂב אֲשֶׁ֤ר לֹֽא־ יְקַוֶּה֙ לְאִ֔ישׁ וְלֹ֥א יְיַחֵ֖ל לִבְנֵ֥י אָדָֽם׃

KJV ⁷ And the remnant of Jacob shall be in the midst of many people as a dew from the LORD, as the showers upon the grass, that tarrieth not for man, nor waiteth for the sons of men.

LSG ⁷ (5:6) Le reste de Jacob sera au milieu des peuples nombreux Comme une rosée qui vient de l'Éternel, Comme des gouttes d'eau sur l'herbe: Elles ne comptent pas sur l'homme, Elles ne dépendent pas des enfants des hommes.

VULC ⁷ Et erunt reliquiæ Jacob in medio populorum multorum
quasi ros a Domino,
et quasi stillæ super herbam,
quæ non exspectat virum,
et non præstolatur filios hominum.

WLC ⁷ וְהָיָה֩ שְׁאֵרִ֨ית יַעֲקֹ֜ב בַּגּוֹיִ֗ם בְּקֶ֙רֶב֙ עַמִּ֣ים רַבִּ֔ים כְּאַרְיֵה֙ בְּבַהֲמ֣וֹת יַ֔עַר כִּכְפִ֖יר בְּעֶדְרֵי צֹ֑אן אֲשֶׁ֧ר אִם עָבַ֛ר וְרָמַ֥ס וְטָרַ֖ף וְאֵ֥ין מַצִּֽיל׃

KJV ⁸ And the remnant of Jacob shall be among the Gentiles in the midst of many people as a lion among the beasts of the forest, as a young lion among the flocks of sheep: who, if he go through, both treadeth down, and teareth in pieces, and none can deliver.

LSG ⁸ (5:7) Le reste de Jacob sera parmi les nations, Au milieu des peuples nombreux, Comme un lion parmi les bêtes de la forêt, Comme un lionceau parmi les troupeaux de brebis: Lorsqu'il passe, il foule et déchire, Et personne ne délivre.

VULC ⁸ Et erunt reliquiæ Jacob in gentibus,
in medio populorum multorum,
quasi leo in jumentis silvarum,
et quasi catulus leonis in gregibus pecorum,
qui cum transierit, et conculcaverit, et ceperit,
non est qui eruat.

WLC ⁸ תָּרֹ֥ם יָדְךָ֖ עַל־ צָרֶ֑יךָ וְכָל־ אֹיְבֶ֖יךָ יִכָּרֵֽתוּ׃

KJV ⁹ Thine hand shall be lifted up upon thine adversaries, and all thine enemies shall be cut off.

LSG ⁹ (5:8) Que ta main se lève sur tes adversaires, Et que tous tes ennemis soient exterminés !

VULC ⁹ Exaltabitur manus tua super hostes tuos,
et omnes inimici tui interibunt.

WLC ⁹ וְהָיָ֤ה בַיּוֹם־ הַהוּא֙ נְאֻם־ יְהוָ֔ה וְהִכְרַתִּ֥י סוּסֶ֖יךָ מִקִּרְבֶּ֑ךָ וְהַאֲבַדְתִּ֖י מַרְכְּבֹתֶֽיךָ׃

KJV ¹⁰ And it shall come to pass in that day, saith the LORD, that I will cut off thy horses out of the midst of thee, and I will destroy thy chariots:

LSG ¹⁰ (5:9) En ce jour-là, dit l'Éternel, J'exterminerai du milieu de toi tes chevaux, Et je détruirai tes chars ;

VULC ¹⁰ Et erit in die illa, dicit Dominus :
auferam equos tuos de medio tui,
et disperdam quadrigas tuas.

WLC ¹⁰ וְהִכְרַתִּ֖י עָרֵ֣י אַרְצֶ֑ךָ וְהָרַסְתִּ֖י כָּל־ מִבְצָרֶֽיךָ׃

KJV ¹¹ And I will cut off the cities of thy land, and throw down all thy strong holds:

LSG ¹¹ (5:10) J'exterminerai les villes de ton pays, Et je renverserai toutes tes forteresses ;

VULC ¹¹ Et perdam civitates terræ tuæ,
et destruam omnes munitiones tuas :
et auferam maleficia de manu tua,
et divinationes non erunt in te :

WLC ¹¹ וְהִכְרַתִּ֥י כְשָׁפִ֖ים מִיָּדֶ֑ךָ וּֽמְעוֹנְנִ֖ים לֹ֥א יִֽהְיוּ־ לָֽךְ׃

KJV ¹² And I will cut off witchcrafts out of thine hand; and thou shalt have no more soothsayers:

LSG ¹² (5:11) J'exterminerai de ta main les enchantements, Et tu n'auras plus de magiciens ;

VULC ¹² et perire faciam sculptilia tua et statuas tuas de medio tui,
et non adorabis ultra opera manuum tuarum :

WLC ¹² וְהִכְרַתִּ֧י פְסִילֶ֛יךָ וּמַצֵּבוֹתֶ֖יךָ מִקִּרְבֶּ֑ךָ וְלֹֽא־ תִשְׁתַּחֲוֶ֥ה ע֖וֹד לְמַעֲשֵׂ֥ה יָדֶֽיךָ׃

KJV ¹³ Thy graven images also will I cut off, and thy standing images out of the midst of thee; and thou shalt no more worship the work of thine hands.

LSG ¹³ (5:12) J'exterminerai du milieu de toi tes idoles et tes statues, Et tu ne te prosterneras plus devant l'ouvrage de tes mains ;

VULC ¹³ et evellam lucos tuos de medio tui,
et conteram civitates tuas.

WLC ¹³ וְנָתַשְׁתִּ֥י אֲשֵׁירֶ֖יךָ מִקִּרְבֶּ֑ךָ וְהִשְׁמַדְתִּ֖י עָרֶֽיךָ׃

KJV ¹⁴ And I will pluck up thy groves out of the midst of thee: so will I destroy thy cities.

VULC ¹⁴ Et faciam, in furore et in indignatione, ultionem
in omnibus gentibus quæ non audierunt.]

WLC ¹⁴ וְעָשִׂ֜יתִי בְּאַ֧ף וּבְחֵמָ֛ה נָקָ֖ם אֶת־ הַגּוֹיִ֑ם אֲשֶׁ֖ר לֹ֥א שָׁמֵֽעוּ׃

KJV ¹⁵ And I will execute vengeance in anger and fury upon the heathen, such as they have not heard.
