KJV ² And the people cried unto Moses; and when Moses prayed unto the LORD, the fire was quenched.

BCC ³ On donna à ce lieu le nom de Thabéera, parce que le feu de Yahweh s'était allumé contre eux.

KJV ³ And he called the name of the place Taberah: because the fire of the LORD burnt among them.

VULC ³ Vocavitque nomen loci illius, Incensio : eo quod incensus fuisset contra eos ignis Domini.

WLC ³ וַיִּקְרָ֛א שֵֽׁם־ הַמָּק֥וֹם הַה֖וּא תַּבְעֵרָ֑ה כִּֽי־ בָעֲרָ֥ה בָ֖ם אֵ֥שׁ יְהוָֽה׃

BCC ⁴ Le ramas de gens qui se trouvaient au milieu d'Israël s'enflamma de convoitise, et même les enfants d'Israël recommencèrent à pleurer et dirent :

KJV ⁴ And the mixt multitude that was among them fell a lusting: and the children of Israel also wept again, and said, Who shall give us flesh to eat?

VULC ⁴ Vulgus quippe promiscuum, quod ascenderat cum eis, flagravit desiderio, sedens et flens, junctis sibi pariter filiis Israël, et ait : Quis dabit nobis ad vescendum carnes ?

WLC ⁴ וְהָֽאסַפְסֻף֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר בְּקִרְבּ֔וֹ הִתְאַוּ֖וּ תַּאֲוָ֑ה וַיָּשֻׁ֣בוּ וַיִּבְכּ֗וּ גַּ֚ם בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל וַיֹּ֣אמְר֔וּ מִ֥י יַאֲכִלֵ֖נוּ בָּשָֽׂר׃

BCC ⁵ "Qui nous donnera de la viande à manger ? Il nous souvient des poissons que nous mangions pour rien en Égypte, des concombres, des melons, des poireaux, des oignons et de l'ail.

KJV ⁵ We remember the fish, which we did eat in Egypt freely; the cucumbers, and the melons, and the leeks, and the onions, and the garlick:

BCC ⁶ Maintenant notre âme est desséchée ; plus rien ! Nos yeux ne voient que de la manne."

KJV ⁶ But now our soul is dried away: there is nothing at all, beside this manna, before our eyes.

BCC ¹¹ Moïse fut attristé, et il dit à Yahweh : "Pourquoi avez-vous fait ce mal à votre serviteur, et pourquoi n'ai-je pas trouvé grâce à vos yeux, que vous ayez mis sur moi la charge de tout ce peuple ?

KJV ¹¹ And Moses said unto the LORD, Wherefore hast thou afflicted thy servant? and wherefore have I not found favour in thy sight, that thou layest the burden of all this people upon me?

BCC ¹² Est-ce moi qui ai conçu tout ce peuple ? Est-ce moi qui l'ai enfanté, pour que vous me disiez : Porte-le sur ton sein, comme le nourricier porte un enfant qu'on allaite, jusqu'au pays que vous avez juré à ses pères de lui donner ?

KJV ¹² Have I conceived all this people? have I begotten them, that thou shouldest say unto me, Carry them in thy bosom, as a nursing father beareth the sucking child, unto the land which thou swarest unto their fathers?

BCC ¹³ Où prendrai-je de la viande pour en donner à tout ce peuple ? Car ils pleurent autour de moi, en disant : Donne-nous de la viande à manger.

KJV ¹³ Whence should I have flesh to give unto all this people? for they weep unto me, saying, Give us flesh, that we may eat.

VULC ¹³ Unde mihi carnes ut dem tantæ multitudini ? flent contra me, dicentes : Da nobis carnes ut comedamus.

KJV ¹⁵ And if thou deal thus with me, kill me, I pray thee, out of hand, if I have found favour in thy sight; and let me not see my wretchedness.

KJV ²⁰ But even a whole month, until it come out at your nostrils, and it be loathsome unto you: because that ye have despised the LORD which is among you, and have wept before him, saying, Why came we forth out of Egypt?

BCC ²¹ Moïse dit : "le peuple au milieu duquel je suis est de six cent mille hommes de pied, et vous dites : Je leur donnerai de la viande, et ils en mangeront un mois entier !

KJV ²¹ And Moses said, The people, among whom I am, are six hundred thousand footmen; and thou hast said, I will give them flesh, that they may eat a whole month.

VULC ²¹ Et ait Moyses : Sexcenta millia peditum hujus populi sunt : et tu dicis : Dabo eis esum carnium mense integro ?

WLC ²¹ וַיֹּאמֶר֮ מֹשֶׁה֒ שֵׁשׁ־ מֵא֥וֹת אֶ֙לֶף֙ רַגְלִ֔י הָעָ֕ם אֲשֶׁ֥ר אָנֹכִ֖י בְּקִרְבּ֑וֹ וְאַתָּ֣ה אָמַ֗רְתָּ בָּשָׂר֙ אֶתֵּ֣ן לָהֶ֔ם וְאָכְל֖וּ חֹ֥דֶשׁ יָמִֽים׃

BCC ²² Égorgera-t-on pour eux les brebis et les boeufs, pour qu'ils en aient assez ? Ou leur ramassera-t-on tous les poissons de la mer, pour qu'ils en aient assez ?"

KJV ²² Shall the flocks and the herds be slain for them, to suffice them? or shall all the fish of the sea be gathered together for them, to suffice them?

VULC ²² numquid ovium et boum multitudo cædetur, ut possit sufficere ad cibum ? vel omnes pisces maris in unum congregabuntur, ut eos satient ?

WLC ²² הֲצֹ֧אן וּבָקָ֛ר יִשָּׁחֵ֥ט לָהֶ֖ם וּמָצָ֣א לָהֶ֑ם אִ֣ם אֶֽת־ כָּל־ דְּגֵ֥י הַיָּ֛ם יֵאָסֵ֥ף לָהֶ֖ם וּמָצָ֥א לָהֶֽם׃

BCC ²³ Yahweh répondit à Moïse : "La main de Yahweh est-elle trop courte ? Tu verras maintenant si ce que j'ai dit t'arrivera ou non."

KJV ²³ And the LORD said unto Moses, Is the LORD's hand waxed short? thou shalt see now whether my word shall come to pass unto thee or not.

VULC ²³ Cui respondit Dominus : Numquid manus Domini invalida est ? jam nunc videbis utrum meus sermo opere compleatur.

WLC ²³ וַיֹּ֤אמֶר יְהוָה֙ אֶל־ מֹשֶׁ֔ה הֲיַ֥ד יְהוָ֖ה תִּקְצָ֑ר עַתָּ֥ה תִרְאֶ֛ה הֲיִקְרְךָ֥ דְבָרִ֖י אִם־ לֹֽא׃

BCC ²⁴ Moïse sortit et rapporta au peuple les paroles de Yahweh, et il assembla soixante-dix hommes des anciens du peuple et les plaça autour de la tente.

KJV ²⁴ And Moses went out, and told the people the words of the LORD, and gathered the seventy men of the elders of the people, and set them round about the tabernacle.

KJV ²⁵ And the LORD came down in a cloud, and spake unto him, and took of the spirit that was upon him, and gave it unto the seventy elders: and it came to pass, that, when the spirit rested upon them, they prophesied, and did not cease.

BCC ²⁶ Deux hommes, l'un nommé Eldad, et l'autre Médad, étaient restés dans le camp, et l'esprit reposa aussi sur eux ; ils étaient parmi les inscrits, mais ils ne s'étaient pas rendus à la tente ; et ils prophétisèrent dans le camp.

KJV ²⁶ But there remained two of the men in the camp, the name of the one was Eldad, and the name of the other Medad: and the spirit rested upon them; and they were of them that were written, but went not out unto the tabernacle: and they prophesied in the camp.

VULC ²⁶ Remanserant autem in castris duo viri, quorum unus vocabatur Eldad, et alter Medad, super quos requievit spiritus. Nam et ipsi descripti fuerant, et non exierant ad tabernaculum.

WLC ²⁶ וַיִּשָּׁאֲר֣וּ שְׁנֵֽי־ אֲנָשִׁ֣ים ׀ בַּֽמַּחֲנֶ֡ה שֵׁ֣ם הָאֶחָ֣ד ׀ אֶלְדָּ֡ד וְשֵׁם֩ הַשֵּׁנִ֨י מֵידָ֜ד וַתָּ֧נַח עֲלֵיהֶ֣ם הָר֗וּחַ וְהֵ֙מָּה֙ בַּכְּתֻבִ֔ים וְלֹ֥א יָצְא֖וּ הָאֹ֑הֱלָה וַיִּֽתְנַבְּא֖וּ בַּֽמַּחֲנֶֽה׃

BCC ²⁷ Un jeune garçon courut l'annoncer à Moïse, en disant "Eldad et Médad prophétisent dans le camp."

KJV ²⁷ And there ran a young man, and told Moses, and said, Eldad and Medad do prophesy in the camp.

VULC ²⁷ Cumque prophetarent in castris, cucurrit puer, et nuntiavit Moysi, dicens : Eldad et Medad prophetant in castris.

WLC ²⁷ וַיָּ֣רָץ הַנַּ֔עַר וַיַּגֵּ֥ד לְמֹשֶׁ֖ה וַיֹּאמַ֑ר אֶלְדָּ֣ד וּמֵידָ֔ד מִֽתְנַבְּאִ֖ים בַּֽמַּחֲנֶֽה׃

BCC ²⁸ Aussitôt Josué, fils de Nun, serviteur de Moïse depuis sa jeunesse, prenant la parole dit : "Moïse, mon seigneur, empêche-les."

KJV ²⁸ And Joshua the son of Nun, the servant of Moses, one of his young men, answered and said, My lord Moses, forbid them.

VULC ²⁸ Statim Josue filius Nun, minister Moysi, et electus e pluribus, ait : Domine mi Moyses, prohibe eos.

WLC ²⁸ וַיַּ֜עַן יְהוֹשֻׁ֣עַ בִּן־ נ֗וּן מְשָׁרֵ֥ת מֹשֶׁ֛ה מִבְּחֻרָ֖יו וַיֹּאמַ֑ר אֲדֹנִ֥י מֹשֶׁ֖ה כְּלָאֵֽם׃

BCC ²⁹ Moïse lui répondit : "es-tu donc jaloux pour moi ? Plût à Dieu que tout le peuple de Yahweh fût prophète, et que Yahweh mit son esprit sur eux !"

KJV ²⁹ And Moses said unto him, Enviest thou for my sake? would God that all the LORD's people were prophets, and that the LORD would put his spirit upon them!

VULC ²⁹ At ille : Quid, inquit æmularis pro me ? quis tribuat ut omnis populus prophetet, et det eis Dominus spiritum suum ?

WLC ²⁹ וַיֹּ֤אמֶר לוֹ֙ מֹשֶׁ֔ה הַֽמְקַנֵּ֥א אַתָּ֖ה לִ֑י וּמִ֨י יִתֵּ֜ן כָּל־ עַ֤ם יְהוָה֙ נְבִיאִ֔ים כִּי־ יִתֵּ֧ן יְהוָ֛ה אֶת־ רוּח֖וֹ עֲלֵיהֶֽם׃

BCC ³⁰ Et Moïse se retira dans le camp, lui et les anciens d'Israël.

KJV ³⁰ And Moses gat him into the camp, he and the elders of Israel.

WLC ³⁰ וַיֵּאָסֵ֥ף מֹשֶׁ֖ה אֶל־ הַֽמַּחֲנֶ֑ה ה֖וּא וְזִקְנֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

BCC ³¹ Un vent souffla de par l'ordre de Yahweh, qui, de la mer, amena des cailles et les abattit sur le camp, sur l'étendue d'environ une journée de chemin d'un côté, d'environ une journée de chemin de l'autre côté, autour du camp ; et il y en avait près de deux coudées de haut sur la surface de la terre.

KJV ³¹ And there went forth a wind from the LORD, and brought quails from the sea, and let them fall by the camp, as it were a day's journey on this side, and as it were a day's journey on the other side, round about the camp, and as it were two cubits high upon the face of the earth.

VULC ³¹ Ventus autem egrediens a Domino, arreptans trans mare coturnices detulit, et demisit in castra itinere quantum uno die confici potest, ex omni parte castrorum per circuitum, volabantque in aëre duobus cubitis altitudine super terram.

WLC ³¹ וְר֜וּחַ נָסַ֣ע ׀ מֵאֵ֣ת יְהוָ֗ה וַיָּ֣גָז שַׂלְוִים֮ מִן־ הַיָּם֒ וַיִּטֹּ֨שׁ עַל־ הַֽמַּחֲנֶ֜ה כְּדֶ֧רֶךְ י֣וֹם כֹּ֗ה וּכְדֶ֤רֶךְ יוֹם֙ כֹּ֔ה סְבִיב֖וֹת הַֽמַּחֲנֶ֑ה וּכְאַמָּתַ֖יִם עַל־ פְּנֵ֥י הָאָֽרֶץ׃

BCC ³² Pendant tout ce jour, toute la nuit et toute la journée du lendemain, le peuple se leva et ramassa les cailles ; celui qui en avait ramassé le moins en avait dix gomors ; et ils les étendirent pour eux, tout autour du camp.

KJV ³² And the people stood up all that day, and all that night, and all the next day, and they gathered the quails: he that gathered least gathered ten homers: and they spread them all abroad for themselves round about the camp.

VULC ³² Surgens ergo populus toto die illo, et nocte, ac die altero, congregavit coturnicum : qui parum, decem coros : et siccaverunt eas per gyrum castrorum.

WLC ³² וַיָּ֣קָם הָעָ֡ם כָּל־ הַיּוֹם֩ הַה֨וּא וְכָל־ הַלַּ֜יְלָה וְכֹ֣ל ׀ י֣וֹם הַֽמָּחֳרָ֗ת וַיַּֽאַסְפוּ֙ אֶת־ הַשְּׂלָ֔ו הַמַּמְעִ֕יט אָסַ֖ף עֲשָׂרָ֣ה חֳמָרִ֑ים וַיִּשְׁטְח֤וּ לָהֶם֙ שָׁט֔וֹחַ סְבִיב֖וֹת הַֽמַּחֲנֶֽה׃

BCC ³³ Mais la chair était encore entre leurs dents, avant d'être consommée, que la colère de Yahweh s'enflamma contre le peuple, et Yahweh frappa le peuple d'une très grande plaie.

KJV ³³ And while the flesh was yet between their teeth, ere it was chewed, the wrath of the LORD was kindled against the people, and the LORD smote the people with a very great plague.

VULC ³³ Adhuc carnes erant in dentibus eorum, nec defecerat hujuscemodi cibus : et ecce furor Domini concitatus in populum, percussit eum plaga magna nimis.

WLC ³³ הַבָּשָׂ֗ר עוֹדֶ֙נּוּ֙ בֵּ֣ין שִׁנֵּיהֶ֔ם טֶ֖רֶם יִכָּרֵ֑ת וְאַ֤ף יְהוָה֙ חָרָ֣ה בָעָ֔ם וַיַּ֤ךְ יְהוָה֙ בָּעָ֔ם מַכָּ֖ה רַבָּ֥ה מְאֹֽד׃

BCC ³⁴ On donna à ce lieu le nom de Qibroth-Hattaava, parce qu'on y enterra le peuple qui s'était enflammé de convoitise.

KJV ³⁴ And he called the name of that place Kibrothhattaavah: because there they buried the people that lusted.

VULC ³⁴ Vocatusque est ille locus, Sepulchra concupiscentiæ : ibi enim sepelierunt populum qui desideraverat. Egressi autem de Sepulchris concupiscentiæ, venerunt in Haseroth, et manserunt ibi.

WLC ³⁴ וַיִּקְרָ֛א אֶת־ שֵֽׁם־ הַמָּק֥וֹם הַה֖וּא קִבְר֣וֹת הַֽתַּאֲוָ֑ה כִּי־ שָׁם֙ קָֽבְר֔וּ אֶת־ הָעָ֖ם הַמִּתְאַוִּֽים׃

BCC ³⁵ De Qibroth-Hattaava le peuple partit pour Haséroth, et il s'arrêta à Haséroth.

KJV ³⁵ And the people journeyed from Kibrothhattaavah unto Hazeroth; and abode at Hazeroth.

WLC ³⁵ מִקִּבְר֧וֹת הַֽתַּאֲוָ֛ה נָסְע֥וּ הָעָ֖ם חֲצֵר֑וֹת וַיִּהְי֖וּ בַּחֲצֵרֽוֹת׃
