BCC ² "Venge les enfants d'Israël sur les Madianites ; tu seras ensuite recueilli auprès de ton peuple."

KJV ² Avenge the children of Israel of the Midianites: afterward shalt thou be gathered unto thy people.

WLC ² נְקֹ֗ם נִקְמַת֙ בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל מֵאֵ֖ת הַמִּדְיָנִ֑ים אַחַ֖ר תֵּאָסֵ֥ף אֶל־ עַמֶּֽיךָ׃

BCC ³ Moïse parla au peuple, en disant : "Armez pour la guerre des hommes d'entre vous, et qu'ils marchent contre Madian, pour exécuter la vengeance de Yahweh sur Madian.

KJV ³ And Moses spake unto the people, saying, Arm some of yourselves unto the war, and let them go against the Midianites, and avenge the LORD of Midian.

VULC ³ Statimque Moyses : Armate, inquit, ex vobis viros ad pugnam, qui possint ultionem Domini expetere de Madianitis.

WLC ³ וַיְדַבֵּ֤ר מֹשֶׁה֙ אֶל־ הָעָ֣ם לֵאמֹ֔ר הֵחָלְצ֧וּ מֵאִתְּכֶ֛ם אֲנָשִׁ֖ים לַצָּבָ֑א וְיִהְיוּ֙ עַל־ מִדְיָ֔ן לָתֵ֥ת נִקְמַת־ יְהוָ֖ה בְּמִדְיָֽן׃

BCC ⁴ Vous enverrez à la guerre mille hommes par tribu, de toutes les tribus d'Israël."

KJV ⁴ Of every tribe a thousand, throughout all the tribes of Israel, shall ye send to the war.

VULC ⁴ Mille viri de singulis tribubus eligantur ex Israël qui mittantur ad bellum.

WLC ⁴ אֶ֚לֶף לַמַּטֶּ֔ה אֶ֖לֶף לַמַּטֶּ֑ה לְכֹל֙ מַטּ֣וֹת יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל תִּשְׁלְח֖וּ לַצָּבָֽא׃

BCC ⁵ On leva donc d'entre les milliers d'Israël mille hommes par tribu, soit douze mille hommes armés pour la guerre.

KJV ⁵ So there were delivered out of the thousands of Israel, a thousand of every tribe, twelve thousand armed for war.

BCC ⁶ Moïse les envoya au combat, mille hommes par tribu, eux et Phinées, le fils d'Éléazar, le prêtre, qui avait avec lui les instruments sacrés et les trompettes retentissantes.

KJV ⁶ And Moses sent them to the war, a thousand of every tribe, them and Phinehas the son of Eleazar the priest, to the war, with the holy instruments, and the trumpets to blow in his hand.

WLC ⁶ וַיִּשְׁלַ֨ח אֹתָ֥ם מֹשֶׁ֛ה אֶ֥לֶף לַמַּטֶּ֖ה לַצָּבָ֑א אֹ֠תָם וְאֶת־ פִּ֨ינְחָ֜ס בֶּן־ אֶלְעָזָ֤ר הַכֹּהֵן֙ לַצָּבָ֔א וּכְלֵ֥י הַקֹּ֛דֶשׁ וַחֲצֹצְר֥וֹת הַתְּרוּעָ֖ה בְּיָדֽוֹ׃

BCC ⁷ Ils s'avancèrent contre Madian, selon l'ordre que Yahweh avait donné à Moïse, et ils tuèrent tous les mâles.

KJV ⁷ And they warred against the Midianites, as the LORD commanded Moses; and they slew all the males.

VULC ⁷ Cumque pugnassent contra Madianitas atque vicissent, omnes mares occiderunt,

WLC ⁷ וַֽיִּצְבְּאוּ֙ עַל־ מִדְיָ֔ן כַּאֲשֶׁ֛ר צִוָּ֥ה יְהוָ֖ה אֶת־ מֹשֶׁ֑ה וַיַּֽהַרְג֖וּ כָּל־ זָכָֽר׃

BCC ⁸ Outre ceux qui étaient tombés dans la bataille, ils tuèrent les rois de Madian : Évi, Récem, Sur, Hur et Rebé, cinq rois de Madian ; ils tuèrent aussi par l'épée Balaam, fils de Béor.

KJV ⁸ And they slew the kings of Midian, beside the rest of them that were slain; namely, Evi, and Rekem, and Zur, and Hur, and Reba, five kings of Midian: Balaam also the son of Beor they slew with the sword.

BCC ⁹ Les enfants d'Israël firent prisonnières les femmes des Madianites avec leurs petits enfants, et ils pillèrent toutes leurs bêtes de somme, tous leurs troupeaux et tous leurs biens.

KJV ⁹ And the children of Israel took all the women of Midian captives, and their little ones, and took the spoil of all their cattle, and all their flocks, and all their goods.

BCC ¹⁰ Ils livrèrent aux flammes toutes les villes du pays qu'ils habitaient et tous leurs campements.

KJV ¹⁰ And they burnt all their cities wherein they dwelt, and all their goodly castles, with fire.

BCC ¹¹ Ayant pris tout le butin et toutes les dépouilles, gens et bestiaux,

KJV ¹¹ And they took all the spoil, and all the prey, both of men and of beasts.

BCC ¹² ils amenèrent les prisonniers, les dépouilles et le butin à Moïse, à Éléazar, le prêtre, et à l'assemblée des enfants d'Israël, au camp, dans les plaines de Moab, près du Jourdain, vis-à-vis de Jéricho.

KJV ¹² And they brought the captives, and the prey, and the spoil, unto Moses, and Eleazar the priest, and unto the congregation of the children of Israel, unto the camp at the plains of Moab, which are by Jordan near Jericho.

KJV ¹³ And Moses, and Eleazar the priest, and all the princes of the congregation, went forth to meet them without the camp.

BCC ¹⁴ d'eux, hors du camp. Et Moïse s'irrita contre les commandants de l'armée, les chefs de milliers et les chefs de centaines, qui revenaient du combat.

KJV ¹⁴ And Moses was wroth with the officers of the host, with the captains over thousands, and captains over hundreds, which came from the battle.

VULC ¹⁴ Iratusque Moyses principibus exercitus, tribunis, et centurionibus qui venerant de bello,

WLC ¹⁴ וַיִּקְצֹ֣ף מֹשֶׁ֔ה עַ֖ל פְּקוּדֵ֣י הֶחָ֑יִל שָׂרֵ֤י הָאֲלָפִים֙ וְשָׂרֵ֣י הַמֵּא֔וֹת הַבָּאִ֖ים מִצְּבָ֥א הַמִּלְחָמָֽה׃

BCC ¹⁵ Il leur dit : "avez-vous donc laissé la vie à toutes les femmes ?

KJV ¹⁵ And Moses said unto them, Have ye saved all the women alive?

VULC ¹⁵ ait : Cur feminas reservastis ?

WLC ¹⁵ וַיֹּ֥אמֶר אֲלֵיהֶ֖ם מֹשֶׁ֑ה הַֽחִיִּיתֶ֖ם כָּל־ נְקֵבָֽה׃

BCC ¹⁶ Voici, ce sont elles qui, sur la parole de Balaam, ont entraîné les enfants d'Israël à l'infidélité envers Yahweh, dans l'affaire de Phogor ; et alors la plaie fut dans l'assemblée de Yahweh.

KJV ¹⁶ Behold, these caused the children of Israel, through the counsel of Balaam, to commit trespass against the LORD in the matter of Peor, and there was a plague among the congregation of the LORD.

VULC ¹⁶ nonne istæ sunt, quæ deceperunt filios Israël ad suggestionem Balaam, et prævaricari vos fecerunt in Domino super peccato Phogor, unde et percussus est populus ?

WLC ¹⁶ הֵ֣ן הֵ֜נָּה הָי֨וּ לִבְנֵ֤י יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ בִּדְבַ֣ר בִּלְעָ֔ם לִמְסָר־ מַ֥עַל בַּיהוָ֖ה עַל־ דְּבַר־ פְּע֑וֹר וַתְּהִ֥י הַמַּגֵּפָ֖ה בַּעֲדַ֥ת יְהוָֽה׃

BCC ¹⁷ Maintenant, tuez tout mâle parmi les petits enfants, et tuez toute femme qui a connu la couche d'un homme ;

KJV ¹⁷ Now therefore kill every male among the little ones, and kill every woman that hath known man by lying with him.

BCC ¹⁸ mais toutes les filles qui n'ont pas connu la couche d'un homme, laissez-les vivre pour vous.

KJV ¹⁸ But all the women children, that have not known a man by lying with him, keep alive for yourselves.

BCC ¹⁹ Et vous, campez hors du camp pendant sept jours ; quiconque a tué quelqu'un et quiconque a touché un mort se purifiera le troisième jour et le septième jour, lui et vos prisonniers.

KJV ¹⁹ And do ye abide without the camp seven days: whosoever hath killed any person, and whosoever hath touched any slain, purify both yourselves and your captives on the third day, and on the seventh day.

BCC ²⁰ Vous purifierez aussi tout vêtement, tout objet de peau, tout ouvrage de poil de chèvre et tout ustensile de bois."

KJV ²⁰ And purify all your raiment, and all that is made of skins, and all work of goats' hair, and all things made of wood.

BCC ²¹ Éléazar, le prêtre, dit aux hommes de guerre qui étaient allés au combat : "voici ce qui est commandé par la loi que Yahweh a prescrite à Moïse :

KJV ²¹ And Eleazar the priest said unto the men of war which went to the battle, This is the ordinance of the law which the LORD commanded Moses;

VULC ²¹ Eleazar quoque sacerdos ad viros exercitus, qui pugnaverunt, sic locutus est : Hoc est præceptum legis, quod mandavit Dominus Moysi :

WLC ²¹ וַיֹּ֨אמֶר אֶלְעָזָ֤ר הַכֹּהֵן֙ אֶל־ אַנְשֵׁ֣י הַצָּבָ֔א הַבָּאִ֖ים לַמִּלְחָמָ֑ה זֹ֚את חֻקַּ֣ת הַתּוֹרָ֔ה אֲשֶׁר־ צִוָּ֥ה יְהוָ֖ה אֶת־ מֹשֶֽׁה׃

BCC ²² l'or, l'argent, l'airain, le fer, l'étain et le plomb,

KJV ²² Only the gold, and the silver, the brass, the iron, the tin, and the lead,

BCC ²³ tout objet qui va au feu, vous le ferez passer par le feu, et il sera pur ; toutefois il sera purifié encore par l'eau de purification. Tout ce qui ne va pas au feu, vous le ferez passer par l'eau.

KJV ²³ Every thing that may abide the fire, ye shall make it go through the fire, and it shall be clean: nevertheless it shall be purified with the water of separation: and all that abideth not the fire ye shall make go through the water.

BCC ²⁴ Vous laverez vos vêtements, le septième jour, et vous serez purs ; vous pourrez ensuite entrer dans le camp.

KJV ²⁴ And ye shall wash your clothes on the seventh day, and ye shall be clean, and afterward ye shall come into the camp.

BCC ²⁶ "Fais, toi et Éléazar, le prêtre, et les chefs de maisons de l'assemblée, le compte de ce qui a été pris des dépouilles en hommes et en bestiaux,

KJV ²⁶ Take the sum of the prey that was taken, both of man and of beast, thou, and Eleazar the priest, and the chief fathers of the congregation:

VULC ²⁶ Tollite summam eorum quæ capta sunt, ab homine usque ad pecus, tu et Eleazar sacerdos et principes vulgi :

WLC ²⁶ שָׂ֗א אֵ֣ת רֹ֤אשׁ מַלְק֙וֹחַ֙ הַשְּׁבִ֔י בָּאָדָ֖ם וּבַבְּהֵמָ֑ה אַתָּה֙ וְאֶלְעָזָ֣ר הַכֹּהֵ֔ן וְרָאשֵׁ֖י אֲב֥וֹת הָעֵדָֽה׃

BCC ²⁷ et partage les dépouilles entre les combattants qui sont allés à la guerre et toute l'assemblée.

KJV ²⁷ And divide the prey into two parts; between them that took the war upon them, who went out to battle, and between all the congregation:

VULC ²⁷ dividesque ex æquo prædam inter eos qui pugnaverunt egressique sunt ad bellum, et inter omnem reliquam multitudinem.

WLC ²⁷ וְחָצִ֙יתָ֙ אֶת־ הַמַּלְק֔וֹחַ בֵּ֚ין תֹּפְשֵׂ֣י הַמִּלְחָמָ֔ה הַיֹּצְאִ֖ים לַצָּבָ֑א וּבֵ֖ין כָּל־ הָעֵדָֽה׃

BCC ²⁸ Tu prélèveras sur la part des soldats qui sont allés à la guerre un tribut pour Yahweh, savoir un sur cinq cents, gens, boeufs, ânes et brebis.

KJV ²⁸ And levy a tribute unto the LORD of the men of war which went out to battle: one soul of five hundred, both of the persons, and of the beeves, and of the asses, and of the sheep:

VULC ²⁸ Et separabis partem Domino ab his qui pugnaverunt et fuerunt in bello, unam animam de quingentis, tam ex hominibus quam ex bobus et asinis et ovibus,

WLC ²⁸ וַהֲרֵמֹתָ֨ מֶ֜כֶס לַֽיהוָ֗ה מֵאֵ֞ת אַנְשֵׁ֤י הַמִּלְחָמָה֙ הַיֹּצְאִ֣ים לַצָּבָ֔א אֶחָ֣ד נֶ֔פֶשׁ מֵחֲמֵ֖שׁ הַמֵּא֑וֹת מִן־ הָאָדָם֙ וּמִן־ הַבָּקָ֔ר וּמִן־ הַחֲמֹרִ֖ים וּמִן־ הַצֹּֽאן׃

BCC ²⁹ Vous le prendrez sur leur moitié et tu le donneras à Éléazar, le prêtre, comme prélèvement de Yahweh.

KJV ²⁹ Take it of their half, and give it unto Eleazar the priest, for an heave offering of the LORD.

VULC ²⁹ et dabis eam Eleazaro sacerdoti, quia primitiæ Domini sunt.

WLC ²⁹ מִמַּֽחֲצִיתָ֖ם תִּקָּ֑חוּ וְנָתַתָּ֛ה לְאֶלְעָזָ֥ר הַכֹּהֵ֖ן תְּרוּמַ֥ת יְהוָֽה׃

BCC ³⁰ Sur la moitié qui revient aux enfants d'Israël, tu mettras à part un sur cinquante, gens, boeufs, ânes, brebis et tout bétail, et tu le donneras aux Lévites, qui ont la garde de la Demeure de Yahweh."

KJV ³⁰ And of the children of Israel's half, thou shalt take one portion of fifty, of the persons, of the beeves, of the asses, and of the flocks, of all manner of beasts, and give them unto the Levites, which keep the charge of the tabernacle of the LORD.

VULC ³⁰ Ex media quoque parte filiorum Israël accipies quinquagesimum caput hominum, et boum, et asinorum, et ovium, cunctorum animantium, et dabis ea Levitis, qui excubant in custodiis tabernaculi Domini.

WLC ³⁰ וּמִמַּחֲצִ֨ת בְּנֵֽי־ יִשְׂרָאֵ֜ל תִּקַּ֣ח ׀ אֶחָ֣ד ׀ אָחֻ֣ז מִן־ הַחֲמִשִּׁ֗ים מִן־ הָאָדָ֧ם מִן־ הַבָּקָ֛ר מִן־ הַחֲמֹרִ֥ים וּמִן־ הַצֹּ֖אן מִכָּל־ הַבְּהֵמָ֑ה וְנָתַתָּ֤ה אֹתָם֙ לַלְוִיִּ֔ם שֹׁמְרֵ֕י מִשְׁמֶ֖רֶת מִשְׁכַּ֥ן יְהוָֽה׃

BCC ³¹ Moïse et Éléazar, le prêtre, firent comme Yahweh l'avait ordonné à Moïse.

KJV ³¹ And Moses and Eleazar the priest did as the LORD commanded Moses.

BCC ³² Les dépouilles, le reste du butin qu'avaient fait les combattants étaient de six cent soixante-quinze mille brebis,

KJV ⁴⁰ And the persons were sixteen thousand; of which the LORD's tribute was thirty and two persons.

BCC ⁴¹ Moïse donna à Éléazar, le prêtre, le tribut prélevé pour Yahweh, ainsi que Yahweh l'avait ordonné à Moïse.

KJV ⁴¹ And Moses gave the tribute, which was the LORD's heave offering, unto Eleazar the priest, as the LORD commanded Moses.

BCC ⁴² Quant à la moitié revenant aux enfants d'Israël, que Moïse avait séparée de celle des combattants,

BCC ⁴⁷ Sur cette moitié qui revenait aux enfants d'Israël, Moïse prit un sur cinquante et le donna aux Lévites, qui ont la garde de la Demeure de Yahweh, ainsi que Yahweh l'avait ordonné à Moïse.

KJV ⁴⁷ Even of the children of Israel's half, Moses took one portion of fifty, both of man and of beast, and gave them unto the Levites, which kept the charge of the tabernacle of the LORD; as the LORD commanded Moses.

KJV ⁴⁸ And the officers which were over thousands of the host, the captains of thousands, and captains of hundreds, came near unto Moses:

WLC ⁴⁸ וַֽיִּקְרְבוּ֙ אֶל־ מֹשֶׁ֔ה הַפְּקֻדִ֕ים אֲשֶׁ֖ר לְאַלְפֵ֣י הַצָּבָ֑א שָׂרֵ֥י הָאֲלָפִ֖ים וְשָׂרֵ֥י הַמֵּאֽוֹת׃

BCC ⁴⁹ centaines, s'approchèrent de Moïse et lui dirent : "Tes serviteurs ont compté les combattants qui étaient sous nos ordres, et il ne manque pas un homme d'entre nous.

KJV ⁴⁹ And they said unto Moses, Thy servants have taken the sum of the men of war which are under our charge, and there lacketh not one man of us.

VULC ⁴⁹ Nos servi tui recensuimus numerum pugnatorum, quos habuimus sub manu nostra : et ne unus quidem defuit.

WLC ⁴⁹ וַיֹּֽאמְרוּ֙ אֶל־ מֹשֶׁ֔ה עֲבָדֶ֣יךָ נָֽשְׂא֗וּ אֶת־ רֹ֛אשׁ אַנְשֵׁ֥י הַמִּלְחָמָ֖ה אֲשֶׁ֣ר בְּיָדֵ֑נוּ וְלֹא־ נִפְקַ֥ד מִמֶּ֖נּוּ אִֽישׁ׃

BCC ⁵⁰ C'est pourquoi nous apportons comme offrande à Yahweh les objets d'or que chacun de nous a trouvés, bracelets, chaînettes, anneaux, pendants d'oreilles et colliers, pour faire l'expiation pour nous devant Yahweh."

KJV ⁵⁰ We have therefore brought an oblation for the LORD, what every man hath gotten, of jewels of gold, chains, and bracelets, rings, earrings, and tablets, to make an atonement for our souls before the LORD.

VULC ⁵⁰ Ob hanc causam offerimus in donariis Domini singuli quod in præda auri potuimus invenire, periscelides et armillas, annulos et dextralia, ac murænulas, ut depreceris pro nobis Dominum.

WLC ⁵⁰ וַנַּקְרֵ֞ב אֶת־ קָרְבַּ֣ן יְהוָ֗ה אִישׁ֩ אֲשֶׁ֨ר מָצָ֤א כְלִֽי־ זָהָב֙ אֶצְעָדָ֣ה וְצָמִ֔יד טַבַּ֖עַת עָגִ֣יל וְכוּמָ֑ז לְכַפֵּ֥ר עַל־ נַפְשֹׁתֵ֖ינוּ לִפְנֵ֥י יְהוָֽה׃

BCC ⁵¹ Moïse et Éléazar, le prêtre, reçurent d'eux cet or, tous ces objets bien travaillés.

KJV ⁵¹ And Moses and Eleazar the priest took the gold of them, even all wrought jewels.

BCC ⁵² Tout l'or prélevé qu'ils présentèrent à Yahweh de la part des chefs de milliers et des chefs de centaines, fut de seize mille sept cent cinquante sicles.

KJV ⁵² And all the gold of the offering that they offered up to the LORD, of the captains of thousands, and of the captains of hundreds, was sixteen thousand seven hundred and fifty shekels.

BCC ⁵³ Les hommes de la troupe eurent chacun leur butin pour eux.

KJV ⁵³ (For the men of war had taken spoil, every man for himself.)

BCC ⁵⁴ Moïse et Éléazar, le prêtre, ayant pris l'or des chefs de milliers et des chefs de centaines, l'apportèrent dans la tente de réunion, comme mémorial pour les enfants d'Israël devant Yahweh.

KJV ⁵⁴ And Moses and Eleazar the priest took the gold of the captains of thousands and of hundreds, and brought it into the tabernacle of the congregation, for a memorial for the children of Israel before the LORD.

VULC ⁵⁴ Et susceptum intulerunt in tabernaculum testimonii, in monimentum filiorum Israël coram Domino.

WLC ⁵⁴ וַיִּקַּ֨ח מֹשֶׁ֜ה וְאֶלְעָזָ֤ר הַכֹּהֵן֙ אֶת־ הַזָּהָ֔ב מֵאֵ֛ת שָׂרֵ֥י הָאֲלָפִ֖ים וְהַמֵּא֑וֹת וַיָּבִ֤אוּ אֹתוֹ֙ אֶל־ אֹ֣הֶל מוֹעֵ֔ד זִכָּר֥וֹן לִבְנֵֽי־ יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל לִפְנֵ֥י יְהוָֽה׃
