KJV ¹ My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my commandments with thee;

S21 ¹ Mon fils, si tu fais bon accueil à mes paroles
et si tu retiens mes commandements

KJV ² So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to understanding;

S21 ² en prêtant une oreille attentive à la sagesse
et en inclinant ton cœur à l'intelligence,

KJV ³ Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding;

S21 ³ oui, si tu appelles la sagesse
et si tu élèves ta voix vers l'intelligence,

KJV ⁴ If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures;

S21 ⁴ si tu la cherches comme l'argent,
si tu la poursuis comme un trésor,

KJV ⁵ Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God.

S21 ⁵ alors tu comprendras ce qu'est la crainte de l'Eternel
et tu trouveras la connaissance de Dieu.

KJV ⁶ For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding.

S21 ⁶ En effet, c'est l'Eternel qui donne la sagesse,
c'est de sa bouche que sortent la connaissance et l'intelligence.

KJV ⁷ He layeth up sound wisdom for the righteous: he is a buckler to them that walk uprightly.

S21 ⁷ Il tient le succès en réserve pour les hommes droits,
il est un bouclier pour ceux qui marchent dans l'intégrité.

KJV ⁸ He keepeth the paths of judgment, and preserveth the way of his saints.

S21 ⁸ Il protège ainsi les sentiers de l'équité
et il veille sur le chemin de ses fidèles.

KJV ⁹ Then shalt thou understand righteousness, and judgment, and equity; yea, every good path.

S21 ⁹ Tu comprendras alors ce que sont la justice, l'équité,
la droiture, toutes les routes qui mènent au bien.

KJV ¹⁰ When wisdom entereth into thine heart, and knowledge is pleasant unto thy soul;

S21 ¹⁰ En effet, la sagesse viendra dans ton cœur
et la connaissance fera les délices de ton âme;

KJV ¹¹ Discretion shall preserve thee, understanding shall keep thee:

S21 ¹¹ la réflexion veillera sur toi,
l'intelligence te protégera,

KJV ¹² To deliver thee from the way of the evil man, from the man that speaketh froward things;

S21 ¹² et ainsi tu seras délivré de la voie du mal,
de l'homme qui tient des discours pervers,

KJV ¹³ Who leave the paths of uprightness, to walk in the ways of darkness;

S21 ¹³ de ceux qui abandonnent les sentiers de la droiture
pour marcher dans des chemins ténébreux,

KJV ¹⁴ Who rejoice to do evil, and delight in the frowardness of the wicked;

S21 ¹⁴ qui éprouvent de la joie à faire le mal,
qui mettent leur plaisir dans la perversité,

KJV ¹⁵ Whose ways are crooked, and they froward in their paths:

S21 ¹⁵ qui suivent des sentiers tortueux
et des routes pleines de détours.

KJV ¹⁶ To deliver thee from the strange woman, even from the stranger which flattereth with her words;

S21 ¹⁶ Tu seras délivré de la femme étrangère,
de l'inconnue au discours flatteur

KJV ¹⁷ Which forsaketh the guide of her youth, and forgetteth the covenant of her God.

S21 ¹⁷ qui abandonne l'ami de sa jeunesse
et qui oublie l'alliance de son Dieu.

KJV ¹⁸ For her house inclineth unto death, and her paths unto the dead.

S21 ¹⁸ En effet, sa maison penche vers la mort
et sa route conduit vers les défunts:

KJV ¹⁹ None that go unto her return again, neither take they hold of the paths of life.

S21 ¹⁹ aucun de ceux qui vont vers elle ne revient
ni ne retrouve les sentiers de la vie.

KJV ²⁰ That thou mayest walk in the way of good men, and keep the paths of the righteous.

S21 ²⁰ Tu marcheras ainsi sur la voie des hommes de bien,
tu persévéreras sur les sentiers des justes.

KJV ²¹ For the upright shall dwell in the land, and the perfect shall remain in it.

S21 ²¹ En effet, les hommes droits habiteront le pays,
les hommes intègres y resteront,

KJV ²² But the wicked shall be cut off from the earth, and the transgressors shall be rooted out of it.

S21 ²² tandis que les méchants seront exclus du pays,
les infidèles en seront arrachés.
