KJV 1 The king's heart is in the hand of the LORD, as the rivers of water: he turneth it whithersoever he will.

WLC 1 פַּלְגֵי־ מַ֣יִם לֶב־ מֶ֭לֶךְ בְּיַד־ יְהוָ֑ה עַֽל־ כָּל־ אֲשֶׁ֖ר יַחְפֹּ֣ץ יַטֶּֽנּוּ׃

KJV 2 Every way of a man is right in his own eyes: but the LORD pondereth the hearts.

VULC 2 Omnis via viri recta sibi videtur :
appendit autem corda Dominus.

WLC 2 כָּֽל־ דֶּרֶךְ־ אִ֭ישׁ יָשָׁ֣ר בְּעֵינָ֑יו וְתֹכֵ֖ן לִבּ֣וֹת יְהוָֽה׃

KJV 3 To do justice and judgment is more acceptable to the LORD than sacrifice.

VULC 3 Facere misericordiam et judicium
magis placet Domino quam victimæ.

KJV 4 An high look, and a proud heart, and the plowing of the wicked, is sin.

VULC 4 Exaltatio oculorum est dilatatio cordis ;
lucerna impiorum peccatum.

WLC 4 רוּם־ עֵ֭ינַיִם וּרְחַב־ לֵ֑ב נִ֖ר רְשָׁעִ֣ים חַטָּֽאת׃

KJV 5 The thoughts of the diligent tend only to plenteousness; but of every one that is hasty only to want.

omnis autem piger semper in egestate est.]

WLC 5 מַחְשְׁב֣וֹת חָ֭רוּץ אַךְ־ לְמוֹתָ֑ר וְכָל־ אָ֝֗ץ אַךְ־ לְמַחְסֽוֹר׃

KJV 6 The getting of treasures by a lying tongue is a vanity tossed to and fro of them that seek death.

VULC 6 [Qui congregat thesauros lingua mendacii vanus et excors est,
et impingetur ad laqueos mortis.

WLC 6 פֹּ֣עַל א֭וֹצָרוֹת בִּלְשׁ֣וֹן שָׁ֑קֶר הֶ֥בֶל נִ֝דָּ֗ף מְבַקְשֵׁי־ מָֽוֶת׃

KJV 7 The robbery of the wicked shall destroy them; because they refuse to do judgment.

VULC 7 Rapinæ impiorum detrahent eos,
quia noluerunt facere judicium.

WLC 7 שֹׁד־ רְשָׁעִ֥ים יְגוֹרֵ֑ם כִּ֥י מֵ֝אֲנ֗וּ לַעֲשׂ֥וֹת מִשְׁפָּֽט׃

KJV 8 The way of man is froward and strange: but as for the pure, his work is right.

VULC 8 Perversa via viri aliena est ;
qui autem mundus est, rectum opus ejus.

WLC 8 הֲפַכְפַּ֬ךְ דֶּ֣רֶךְ אִ֣ישׁ וָזָ֑ר וְ֝זַ֗ךְ יָשָׁ֥ר פָּעֳלֽוֹ׃

KJV 9 It is better to dwell in a corner of the housetop, than with a brawling woman in a wide house.

VULC 9 Melius est sedere in angulo domatis,
quam cum muliere litigiosa, et in domo communi.

WLC 9 ט֗וֹב לָשֶׁ֥בֶת עַל־ פִּנַּת־ גָּ֑ג מֵאֵ֥שֶׁת מִ֝דְיָנִ֗ים וּבֵ֥ית חָֽבֶר׃

KJV 10 The soul of the wicked desireth evil: his neighbour findeth no favour in his eyes.

VULC 10 Anima impii desiderat malum :
non miserebitur proximo suo.

WLC 10 נֶ֣פֶשׁ רָ֭שָׁע אִוְּתָה־ רָ֑ע לֹא־ יֻחַ֖ן בְּעֵינָ֣יו רֵעֵֽהוּ׃

KJV 11 When the scorner is punished, the simple is made wise: and when the wise is instructed, he receiveth knowledge.

VULC 11 Mulctato pestilente, sapientior erit parvulus,
et si sectetur sapientem, sumet scientiam.

WLC 11 בַּעְנָשׁ־ לֵ֭ץ יֶחְכַּם־ פֶּ֑תִי וּבְהַשְׂכִּ֥יל לְ֝חָכָ֗ם יִקַּח־ דָּֽעַת׃

KJV 12 The righteous man wisely considereth the house of the wicked: but God overthroweth the wicked for their wickedness.

VULC 12 Excogitat justus de domo impii,
ut detrahat impios a malo.]

WLC 12 מַשְׂכִּ֣יל צַ֭דִּיק לְבֵ֣ית רָשָׁ֑ע מְסַלֵּ֖ף רְשָׁעִ֣ים לָרָֽע׃

KJV 13 Whoso stoppeth his ears at the cry of the poor, he also shall cry himself, but shall not be heard.

VULC 13 [Qui obturat aurem suam ad clamorem pauperis,
et ipse clamabit, et non exaudietur.

WLC 13 אֹטֵ֣ם אָ֭זְנוֹ מִזַּעֲקַת־ דָּ֑ל גַּֽם־ ה֥וּא יִ֝קְרָ֗א וְלֹ֣א יֵעָנֶֽה׃

KJV 14 A gift in secret pacifieth anger: and a reward in the bosom strong wrath.

VULC 14 Munus absconditum extinguit iras,
et donum in sinu indignationem maximam.

WLC 14 מַתָּ֣ן בַּ֭סֵּתֶר יִכְפֶּה־ אָ֑ף וְשֹׁ֥חַד בַּ֝חֵ֗ק חֵמָ֥ה עַזָּֽה׃

KJV 15 It is joy to the just to do judgment: but destruction shall be to the workers of iniquity.

VULC 15 Gaudium justo est facere judicium,
et pavor operantibus iniquitatem.

WLC 15 שִׂמְחָ֣ה לַ֭צַּדִּיק עֲשׂ֣וֹת מִשְׁפָּ֑ט וּ֝מְחִתָּ֗ה לְפֹ֣עֲלֵי אָֽוֶן׃

KJV 16 The man that wandereth out of the way of understanding shall remain in the congregation of the dead.

VULC 16 Vir qui erraverit a via doctrinæ
in cœtu gigantum commorabitur.

WLC 16 אָדָ֗ם תּ֭וֹעֶה מִדֶּ֣רֶךְ הַשְׂכֵּ֑ל בִּקְהַ֖ל רְפָאִ֣ים יָנֽוּחַ׃

KJV 17 He that loveth pleasure shall be a poor man: he that loveth wine and oil shall not be rich.

VULC 17 Qui diligit epulas in egestate erit ;
qui amat vinum et pinguia non ditabitur.

WLC 17 אִ֣ישׁ מַ֭חְסוֹר אֹהֵ֣ב שִׂמְחָ֑ה אֹהֵ֥ב יַֽיִן־ וָ֝שֶׁ֗מֶן לֹ֣א יַעֲשִֽׁיר׃

KJV 18 The wicked shall be a ransom for the righteous, and the transgressor for the upright.

VULC 18 Pro justo datur impius,
et pro rectis iniquus.

WLC 18 כֹּ֣פֶר לַצַּדִּ֣יק רָשָׁ֑ע וְתַ֖חַת יְשָׁרִ֣ים בּוֹגֵֽד׃

KJV 19 It is better to dwell in the wilderness, than with a contentious and an angry woman.

quam cum muliere rixosa et iracunda.

WLC 19 ט֗וֹב שֶׁ֥בֶת בְּאֶֽרֶץ־ מִדְבָּ֑ר מֵאֵ֖שֶׁת וָכָֽעַס׃

KJV 20 There is treasure to be desired and oil in the dwelling of the wise; but a foolish man spendeth it up.

et imprudens homo dissipabit illud.

KJV 21 He that followeth after righteousness and mercy findeth life, righteousness, and honour.

KJV 22 A wise man scaleth the city of the mighty, and casteth down the strength of the confidence thereof.

VULC 22 Civitatem fortium ascendit sapiens,
et destruxit robur fiduciæ ejus.

WLC 22 עִ֣יר גִּ֭בֹּרִים עָלָ֣ה חָכָ֑ם וַ֝יֹּ֗רֶד עֹ֣ז מִבְטֶחָֽה׃

KJV 23 Whoso keepeth his mouth and his tongue keepeth his soul from troubles.

VULC 23 Qui custodit os suum et linguam suam
custodit ab angustiis animam suam.

WLC 23 שֹׁמֵ֣ר פִּ֭יו וּלְשׁוֹנ֑וֹ שֹׁמֵ֖ר מִצָּר֣וֹת נַפְשֽׁוֹ׃

KJV 24 Proud and haughty scorner is his name, who dealeth in proud wrath.

VULC 24 Superbus et arrogans vocatur indoctus,
qui in ira operatur superbiam.

WLC 24 זֵ֣ד יָ֭הִיר לֵ֣ץ שְׁמ֑וֹ ע֝וֹשֶׂ֗ה בְּעֶבְרַ֥ת זָדֽוֹן׃

KJV 25 The desire of the slothful killeth him; for his hands refuse to labour.

VULC 25 Desideria occidunt pigrum :
noluerunt enim quidquam manus ejus operari.

WLC 25 תַּאֲוַ֣ת עָצֵ֣ל תְּמִיתֶ֑נּוּ כִּֽי־ מֵאֲנ֖וּ יָדָ֣יו לַעֲשֽׂוֹת׃

KJV 26 He coveteth greedily all the day long: but the righteous giveth and spareth not.

KJV 27 The sacrifice of the wicked is abomination: how much more, when he bringeth it with a wicked mind?

KJV 28 A false witness shall perish: but the man that heareth speaketh constantly.

KJV 29 A wicked man hardeneth his face: but as for the upright, he directeth his way.

VULC 29 Vir impius procaciter obfirmat vultum suum ;
qui autem rectus est corrigit viam suam.

WLC 29 הֵעֵ֬ז אִ֣ישׁ רָשָׁ֣ע בְּפָנָ֑יו וְ֝יָשָׁ֗ר ה֤וּא ׀

KJV 30 There is no wisdom nor understanding nor counsel against the LORD.

VULC 30 Non est sapientia, non est prudentia,
non est consilium contra Dominum.

KJV 31 The horse is prepared against the day of battle: but safety is of the LORD.
