KJV ⁶ He that sendeth a message by the hand of a fool cutteth off the feet, and drinketh damage.

MAR ⁶ Celui qui envoie des messages par un fou, se coupe les pieds ; et boit la peine du tort qu'il s'est fait.

KJV ⁷ The legs of the lame are not equal: so is a parable in the mouth of fools.

MAR ⁷ Faites marcher un homme qui ne va qu'en clochant ; il en sera tout de même d'un propos sentencieux dans la bouche des fous.

KJV ⁸ As he that bindeth a stone in a sling, so is he that giveth honour to a fool.

MAR ⁸ Il en est de celui qui donne de la gloire à un fou, comme s'il jetait une pierre précieuse dans un monceau de pierres.

KJV ⁹ As a thorn goeth up into the hand of a drunkard, so is a parable in the mouths of fools.

MAR ⁹ Ce qu'est une épine qui entre dans la main d'un homme ivre, cela même est un propos sentencieux dans la bouche des fous.

KJV ¹⁰ The great God that formed all things both rewardeth the fool, and rewardeth transgressors.

MAR ¹⁰ Les Grands donnent de l'ennui à tous, et prennent à gage les fous et les transgresseurs.

KJV ¹⁶ The sluggard is wiser in his own conceit than seven men that can render a reason.

MAR ¹⁶ Le paresseux se croit plus sage que sept [autres] qui donnent de sages conseils.

KJV ¹⁷ He that passeth by, and meddleth with strife belonging not to him, is like one that taketh a dog by the ears.

MAR ¹⁷ Celui qui en passant se met en colère pour une dispute qui ne le touche en rien, est [comme] celui qui prend un chien par les oreilles.

KJV ¹⁸ As a mad man who casteth firebrands, arrows, and death,

MAR ¹⁸ Tel qu'est celui qui fait de l'insensé, et qui cependant jette des feux, des flèches, et des choses propres à tuer ;

KJV ¹⁹ So is the man that deceiveth his neighbour, and saith, Am not I in sport?

MAR ¹⁹ Tel est l'homme qui a trompé son ami, et qui après cela dit : Ne me jouais-je pas ?

KJV ²⁰ Where no wood is, there the fire goeth out: so where there is no talebearer, the strife ceaseth.

MAR ²⁰ Le feu s'éteint faute de bois ; ainsi quand il n'y aura plus de semeurs de rapports, les querelles s'apaiseront.

KJV ²¹ As coals are to burning coals, and wood to fire; so is a contentious man to kindle strife.

MAR ²¹ Le charbon est pour faire de la braise, et le bois pour faire du feu, et l'homme querelleux pour exciter des querelles.

KJV ²² The words of a talebearer are as wounds, and they go down into the innermost parts of the belly.

MAR ²² Les paroles d'un semeur de rapports sont comme de ceux qui ne font pas semblant d'y toucher, mais elles descendent jusqu'au-dedans du coeur.

KJV ²³ Burning lips and a wicked heart are like a potsherd covered with silver dross.

MAR ²³ Les lèvres ardentes, et le coeur mauvais, sont [comme] de la litharge enduite sur un pot de terre.

KJV ²⁴ He that hateth dissembleth with his lips, and layeth up deceit within him;

MAR ²⁴ Celui qui hait se contrefait en ses lèvres, mais il cache la fraude au-dedans de soi.

KJV ²⁵ When he speaketh fair, believe him not: for there are seven abominations in his heart.

MAR ²⁵ Quand il parlera gracieusement, ne le crois point ; car il y a sept abominations dans son coeur.

KJV ²⁶ Whose hatred is covered by deceit, his wickedness shall be shewed before the whole congregation.

MAR ²⁶ La malice de celui qui la cache comme dans un lieu secret, sera révélée dans l'assemblée.

KJV ²⁷ Whoso diggeth a pit shall fall therein: and he that rolleth a stone, it will return upon him.

KJV ²⁸ A lying tongue hateth those that are afflicted by it; and a flattering mouth worketh ruin.
