KJV ¹ My son, forget not my law; but let thine heart keep my commandments:

S21 ¹ Mon fils, n'oublie pas mon enseignement
et que ton cœur garde mes commandements,

KJV ² For length of days, and long life, and peace, shall they add to thee.

S21 ² car ils prolongeront la durée de tes jours, les années de ta vie,
et ils augmenteront ta paix.

KJV ³ Let not mercy and truth forsake thee: bind them about thy neck; write them upon the table of thine heart:

S21 ³ Que la bonté et la vérité ne t'abandonnent pas:
attache-les à ton cou,
écris-les sur la table de ton cœur.

KJV ⁴ So shalt thou find favour and good understanding in the sight of God and man.

S21 ⁴ Tu trouveras ainsi grâce et bon sens
aux yeux de Dieu et des hommes.

KJV ⁵ Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

S21 ⁵ Confie-toi en l'Eternel de tout ton cœur
et ne t'appuie pas sur ton intelligence!

KJV ⁶ In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

S21 ⁶ Reconnais-le dans toutes tes voies
et il rendra tes sentiers droits.

KJV ⁷ Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil.

S21 ⁷ *Ne te prends pas pour un sage,
crains l'Eternel et détourne-toi du mal:

KJV ⁸ It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones.

S21 ⁸ cela apportera la guérison à ton corps
et un rafraîchissement à tes os.

KJV ⁹ Honour the LORD with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase:

S21 ⁹ Honore l'Eternel avec tes biens
et avec les premiers de tous tes produits!

KJV ¹⁰ So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine.

S21 ¹⁰ Alors tes greniers seront abondamment remplis
et tes cuves déborderont de vin nouveau.

KJV ¹¹ My son, despise not the chastening of the LORD; neither be weary of his correction:

S21 ¹¹ *Mon fils, ne méprise pas la correction de l'Eternel
et ne sois pas dégoûté lorsqu'il te reprend,

KJV ¹² For whom the LORD loveth he correcteth; even as a father the son in whom he delighteth.

S21 ¹² car l'Eternel reprend celui qu'il aime,
comme un père l'enfant qui a sa faveur. 

KJV ¹³ Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding.

S21 ¹³ Heureux l'homme qui a trouvé la sagesse
et l'homme qui possède l'intelligence!

KJV ¹⁴ For the merchandise of it is better than the merchandise of silver, and the gain thereof than fine gold.

S21 ¹⁴ En effet, le bénéfice qu'elle procure est préférable à celui de l'argent
et le profit qu'on en tire vaut mieux que l'or.

KJV ¹⁵ She is more precious than rubies: and all the things thou canst desire are not to be compared unto her.

S21 ¹⁵ Elle est plus précieuse que les perles,
elle a plus de valeur que tout ce que tu pourrais désirer.

KJV ¹⁶ Length of days is in her right hand; and in her left hand riches and honour.

S21 ¹⁶ Une longue vie est dans sa main droite,
dans sa gauche se trouvent la richesse et la gloire.

KJV ¹⁷ Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace.

S21 ¹⁷ Ses voies sont des voies agréables
et tous ses sentiers sont des sentiers de paix.

KJV ¹⁸ She is a tree of life to them that lay hold upon her: and happy is every one that retaineth her.

S21 ¹⁸ Elle est un arbre de vie pour ceux qui s'attachent à elle,
et ceux qui la possèdent sont heureux.

KJV ¹⁹ The LORD by wisdom hath founded the earth; by understanding hath he established the heavens.

S21 ¹⁹ C'est par la sagesse que l'Eternel a fondé la terre,
c'est par l'intelligence qu'il a affermi le ciel;

KJV ²⁰ By his knowledge the depths are broken up, and the clouds drop down the dew.

S21 ²⁰ c'est par sa connaissance que les abîmes se sont ouverts
et que les nuages distillent la rosée.

KJV ²¹ My son, let not them depart from thine eyes: keep sound wisdom and discretion:

S21 ²¹ Mon fils, que ces conseils ne s'éloignent pas de tes yeux!
Garde le discernement et la réflexion!

KJV ²² So shall they be life unto thy soul, and grace to thy neck.

S21 ²² Ils seront la vie de ton âme
et l'ornement de ton cou.

KJV ²³ Then shalt thou walk in thy way safely, and thy foot shall not stumble.

S21 ²³ Alors tu marcheras en sécurité sur ton chemin
et ton pied ne heurtera pas d'obstacle.

KJV ²⁴ When thou liest down, thou shalt not be afraid: yea, thou shalt lie down, and thy sleep shall be sweet.

S21 ²⁴ Si tu te couches, tu n'auras rien à redouter
et, quand tu seras couché, ton sommeil sera doux.

KJV ²⁵ Be not afraid of sudden fear, neither of the desolation of the wicked, when it cometh.

S21 ²⁵ N'aie pas peur d'une cause de terreur soudaine
ni d'une attaque de la part des méchants,

KJV ²⁶ For the LORD shall be thy confidence, and shall keep thy foot from being taken.

S21 ²⁶ car l'Eternel sera ton assurance
et il préservera ton pied de tout piège.

KJV ²⁷ Withhold not good from them to whom it is due, when it is in the power of thine hand to do it.

S21 ²⁷ Ne refuse pas un bienfait à ceux qui y ont droit
quand tu as le pouvoir de l'accorder.

KJV ²⁸ Say not unto thy neighbour, Go, and come again, and to morrow I will give; when thou hast it by thee.

S21 ²⁸ Ne dis pas à ton prochain: «Va-t'en puis reviens,
c'est demain que je donnerai» quand tu as de quoi donner.

KJV ²⁹ Devise not evil against thy neighbour, seeing he dwelleth securely by thee.

S21 ²⁹ Ne médite pas le mal contre ton prochain
alors qu'il habite en toute confiance près de toi,

KJV ³⁰ Strive not with a man without cause, if he have done thee no harm.

S21 ³⁰ ne te dispute pas sans raison avec quelqu'un
lorsqu'il ne t'a fait aucun mal.

KJV ³¹ Envy thou not the oppressor, and choose none of his ways.

S21 ³¹ Ne sois pas jaloux de l'homme violent
et ne choisis aucune de ses voies,

KJV ³² For the froward is abomination to the LORD: but his secret is with the righteous.

S21 ³² car l'Eternel a horreur de l'homme perverti,
mais il est un ami pour les hommes droits.

KJV ³³ The curse of the LORD is in the house of the wicked: but he blesseth the habitation of the just.

S21 ³³ La malédiction de l'Eternel frappe la maison du méchant,
mais il bénit le domaine des justes.

KJV ³⁴ Surely he scorneth the scorners: but he giveth grace unto the lowly.

S21 ³⁴ *Il se moque des moqueurs,
mais il fait grâce aux humbles. 

KJV ³⁵ The wise shall inherit glory: but shame shall be the promotion of fools.

S21 ³⁵ Les sages hériteront de la gloire,
mais les hommes stupides récolteront le déshonneur.
