BAN ¹ Mon fils, sois attentif à ma sagesse,
Incline ton oreille à mon intelligence,

KJV ¹ My son, attend unto my wisdom, and bow thine ear to my understanding:

BAN ² Pour que tu gardes les avis sensés
Et que tes lèvres retiennent la connaissance.

KJV ² That thou mayest regard discretion, and that thy lips may keep knowledge.

BAN ³ Car les lèvres de l'étrangère distillent du miel,
Son gosier est plus onctueux que l'huile.

KJV ³ For the lips of a strange woman drop as an honeycomb, and her mouth is smoother than oil:

BAN ⁴ Mais la fin qu'elle prépare est amère comme l'absinthe,
Cruelle comme une épée à deux tranchants.

KJV ⁴ But her end is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a two-edged sword.

BAN ⁵ Ses pieds descendent vers la mort ;
Au sépulcre tendent ses pas.

KJV ⁵ Her feet go down to death; her steps take hold on hell.

BAN ⁶ Pour qu'elle ne prenne pas le sentier de la vie,
Ses voies s'égarent elle ne sait où.

KJV ⁶ Lest thou shouldest ponder the path of life, her ways are moveable, that thou canst not know them.

BAN ⁷ Maintenant donc, mes fils, écoutez-moi ;
Ne vous détournez pas des paroles de ma bouche !

KJV ⁷ Hear me now therefore, O ye children, and depart not from the words of my mouth.

BAN ⁸ Eloigne d'elle ton chemin
Et ne t'approche pas des portes de sa maison,

KJV ⁸ Remove thy way far from her, and come not nigh the door of her house:
