KJV ² Who can utter the mighty acts of the LORD? who can shew forth all his praise?

S21 ² Qui pourra dire l'extraordinaire façon d'agir de l'Eternel
et proclamer toute sa louange?

KJV ³ Blessed are they that keep judgment, and he that doeth righteousness at all times.

S21 ³ Heureux ceux qui respectent le droit,
qui pratiquent la justice en tout temps!

KJV ⁴ Remember me, O LORD, with the favour that thou bearest unto thy people: O visit me with thy salvation;

S21 ⁴ Eternel, souviens-toi de moi
dans ta bienveillance pour ton peuple,
interviens pour moi
en accordant ton secours!

KJV ⁵ That I may see the good of thy chosen, that I may rejoice in the gladness of thy nation, that I may glory with thine inheritance.

S21 ⁵ Ainsi je pourrai voir le bonheur de ceux que tu as choisis,
me réjouir de la joie de ton peuple
et partager les louanges de ton héritage!

KJV ⁶ We have sinned with our fathers, we have committed iniquity, we have done wickedly.

S21 ⁶ Nous avons péché comme nos ancêtres,
nous avons fait le mal, nous sommes coupables.

KJV ⁷ Our fathers understood not thy wonders in Egypt; they remembered not the multitude of thy mercies; but provoked him at the sea, even at the Red sea.

S21 ⁷ Nos ancêtres en Egypte n'ont pas compris tes miracles,
ils ne se sont pas rappelé le grand nombre de tes bontés,
ils se sont révoltés près de la mer, près de la mer des Roseaux.

KJV ⁸ Nevertheless he saved them for his name's sake, that he might make his mighty power to be known.

S21 ⁸ Mais il les a sauvés à cause de son nom,
pour faire connaître sa puissance.

KJV ⁹ He rebuked the Red sea also, and it was dried up: so he led them through the depths, as through the wilderness.

S21 ⁹ Il a menacé la mer des Roseaux,
et elle s'est desséchée,
et il les a fait marcher à travers les abîmes
comme dans un désert.

KJV ¹⁰ And he saved them from the hand of him that hated them, and redeemed them from the hand of the enemy.

S21 ¹⁰ Il les a sauvés de celui qui les détestait,
il les a rachetés du pouvoir de l'ennemi.

KJV ¹¹ And the waters covered their enemies: there was not one of them left.

S21 ¹¹ L'eau a recouvert leurs adversaires:
pas un seul n'a survécu.

KJV ¹² Then believed they his words; they sang his praise.

S21 ¹² Alors ils ont cru à ses paroles,
ils ont chanté ses louanges,

KJV ¹³ They soon forgat his works; they waited not for his counsel:

S21 ¹³ mais bien vite ils ont oublié ce qu'il avait fait,
ils n'ont pas attendu la réalisation de ses plans.

KJV ¹⁴ But lusted exceedingly in the wilderness, and tempted God in the desert.

S21 ¹⁴ Ils ont été saisis de convoitise dans le désert,
ils ont provoqué Dieu dans les lieux arides.

KJV ¹⁵ And he gave them their request; but sent leanness into their soul.

S21 ¹⁵ Il leur a accordé ce qu'ils demandaient,
puis il a envoyé le dépérissement dans leur corps.

KJV ¹⁶ They envied Moses also in the camp, and Aaron the saint of the LORD.

S21 ¹⁶ Dans le camp, ils se sont montrés jaloux de Moïse
et d'Aaron, le saint de l'Eternel:

KJV ¹⁷ The earth opened and swallowed up Dathan and covered the company of Abiram.

S21 ¹⁷ la terre s'est ouverte, elle a englouti Dathan
et s'est refermée sur la troupe d'Abiram;

KJV ¹⁸ And a fire was kindled in their company; the flame burned up the wicked.

S21 ¹⁸ le feu a embrasé leur troupe,
la flamme a dévoré les méchants.

KJV ¹⁹ They made a calf in Horeb, and worshipped the molten image.

S21 ¹⁹ Ils ont fabriqué un veau à Horeb,
ils se sont prosternés devant une image en métal fondu.

KJV ²⁰ Thus they changed their glory into the similitude of an ox that eateth grass.

S21 ²⁰ Ils ont échangé leur gloire
contre la représentation d'un bœuf qui mange l'herbe!

KJV ²¹ They forgat God their saviour, which had done great things in Egypt;

S21 ²¹ Ils ont oublié Dieu, leur sauveur,
qui avait fait de grandes choses en Egypte,

KJV ²² Wondrous works in the land of Ham, and terrible things by the Red sea.

S21 ²² des miracles dans le pays de Cham,
des prodiges à la mer des Roseaux.

KJV ²³ Therefore he said that he would destroy them, had not Moses his chosen stood before him in the breach, to turn away his wrath, lest he should destroy them.

S21 ²³ Il parlait de les exterminer,
mais Moïse, celui qu'il avait choisi,
s'est tenu à la brèche devant lui
pour détourner sa fureur et l'empêcher de les détruire.

KJV ²⁴ Yea, they despised the pleasant land, they believed not his word:

S21 ²⁴ Ils ont méprisé le pays des délices,
ils n'ont pas cru à la parole de l'Eternel,

KJV ²⁵ But murmured in their tents, and hearkened not unto the voice of the LORD.

S21 ²⁵ ils ont murmuré dans leurs tentes,
ils n'ont pas écouté l'Eternel.

KJV ²⁶ Therefore he lifted up his hand against them, to overthrow them in the wilderness:

S21 ²⁶ Alors il a levé la main pour jurer
de les faire tomber dans le désert,

KJV ²⁷ To overthrow their seed also among the nations, and to scatter them in the lands.

S21 ²⁷ de faire tomber leur descendance parmi les nations
et de les disperser dans tous les pays.

KJV ²⁸ They joined themselves also unto Baalpeor, and ate the sacrifices of the dead.

S21 ²⁸ Ils se sont attachés au dieu Baal-Peor
et ont mangé des sacrifices offerts à des morts.

KJV ²⁹ Thus they provoked him to anger with their inventions: and the plague brake in upon them.

S21 ²⁹ Ils ont offensé l'Eternel par leurs agissements,
et un fléau a éclaté parmi eux.

KJV ³⁰ Then stood up Phinehas, and executed judgment: and so the plague was stayed.

S21 ³⁰ Phinées s'est levé pour intervenir,
et le fléau s'est arrêté;

KJV ³¹ And that was counted unto him for righteousness unto all generations for evermore.

S21 ³¹ cela lui a été compté comme justice
de génération en génération, pour toujours.

KJV ³² They angered him also at the waters of strife, so that it went ill with Moses for their sakes:

S21 ³² Ils ont irrité l'Eternel près des eaux de Meriba,
et Moïse a été puni à cause d'eux,

KJV ³³ Because they provoked his spirit, so that he spake unadvisedly with his lips.

S21 ³³ car ils l'ont exaspéré
et il a parlé sans réfléchir.

KJV ³⁴ They did not destroy the nations, concerning whom the LORD commanded them:

S21 ³⁴ Ils n'ont pas exterminé les peuples
que l'Eternel leur avait ordonné de détruire;

KJV ³⁵ But were mingled among the heathen, and learned their works.

S21 ³⁵ ils se sont mêlés aux autres nations
et ont imité leur manière de faire.

KJV ³⁶ And they served their idols: which were a snare unto them.

S21 ³⁶ Ils ont servi leurs idoles,
qui ont été un piège pour eux;

KJV ³⁷ Yea, they sacrificed their sons and their daughters unto devils,

S21 ³⁷ ils ont sacrifié leurs fils
et leurs filles aux démons,

KJV ³⁸ And shed innocent blood, even the blood of their sons and of their daughters, whom they sacrificed unto the idols of Canaan: and the land was polluted with blood.

S21 ³⁸ ils ont versé le sang innocent,
le sang de leurs fils et de leurs filles
qu'ils ont offerts en sacrifice aux idoles de Canaan,
et le pays a été souillé par ces meurtres.

KJV ³⁹ Thus were they defiled with their own works, and went a whoring with their own inventions.

S21 ³⁹ Ils se sont rendus impurs par leurs actes,
ils se sont prostitués par leurs agissements.

KJV ⁴⁰ Therefore was the wrath of the LORD kindled against his people, insomuch that he abhorred his own inheritance.

S21 ⁴⁰ La colère de l'Eternel s'est enflammée contre son peuple,
il a pris son héritage en horreur.

KJV ⁴¹ And he gave them into the hand of the heathen; and they that hated them ruled over them.

S21 ⁴¹ Il les a livrés au pouvoir des nations:
ceux qui les détestaient ont dominé sur eux,

KJV ⁴² Their enemies also oppressed them, and they were brought into subjection under their hand.

S21 ⁴² leurs ennemis les ont opprimés,
et ils ont été humiliés sous leur main.

KJV ⁴³ Many times did he deliver them; but they provoked him with their counsel, and were brought low for their iniquity.

S21 ⁴³ Plusieurs fois, il les a délivrés,
mais eux, ils s'obstinaient dans leur révolte,
et ils se sont enfoncés dans leur faute.

KJV ⁴⁴ Nevertheless he regarded their affliction, when he heard their cry:

S21 ⁴⁴ Il a vu leur détresse
lorsqu'il a écouté leurs plaintes.

KJV ⁴⁵ And he remembered for them his covenant, and repented according to the multitude of his mercies.

S21 ⁴⁵ Il s'est souvenu en leur faveur de son alliance,
il a eu pitié d'eux, conformément à sa grande bonté,

KJV ⁴⁶ He made them also to be pitied of all those that carried them captives.

S21 ⁴⁶ et il a éveillé pour eux la compassion
de tous ceux qui les retenaient prisonniers.

KJV ⁴⁷ Save us, O LORD our God, and gather us from among the heathen, to give thanks unto thy holy name, and to triumph in thy praise.

S21 ⁴⁷ Sauve-nous, Eternel, notre Dieu,
et rassemble-nous du milieu des nations!
Ainsi nous célébrerons ton saint nom
et nous mettrons notre gloire à te louer:

KJV ⁴⁸ Blessed be the LORD God of Israel from everlasting to everlasting: and let all the people say, Amen. Praise ye the LORD.

S21 ⁴⁸ «Béni soit l'Eternel, le Dieu d'Israël, d'éternité en éternité!»
Et tout le peuple dira: «Amen! Louez l'Eternel!»
