BAN ¹ Au maître chantre. Du serviteur de l'Eternel, de David, qui adressa à l'Eternel les paroles de ce cantique, lorsque l'Eternel l'eut délivré de la main de tous ses ennemis et de la main de Saül.

KJV ¹ I will love thee, O LORD, my strength.

BAN ² Il dit :
Je veux t'aimer de tout mon coeur, ô Eternel, qui es ma force !

KJV ² The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.

BAN ³ Eternel, mon rocher, ma forteresse et mon libérateur !
Mon Dieu ! le roc où je me réfugie !
Mon bouclier, la corne de mon salut, ma haute retraite !

KJV ³ I will call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from mine enemies.

BAN ⁴ Je m'écrie : Loué soit l'Eternel !
Et je suis délivré de mes ennemis.

KJV ⁴ The sorrows of death compassed me, and the floods of ungodly men made me afraid.

BAN ⁵ Les liens de la mort m'entouraient,
Les torrents de la perversité m'épouvantaient ;

KJV ⁵ The sorrows of hell compassed me about: the snares of death prevented me.

BAN ⁶ Les liens du sépulcre m'enlaçaient,
Les filets de la mort m'avaient surpris.

KJV ⁶ In my distress I called upon the LORD, and cried unto my God: he heard my voice out of his temple, and my cry came before him, even into his ears.

BAN ⁷ Dans mon angoisse, j'invoquai l'Eternel,
Et je criai à mon Dieu.
De son palais il entendit ma voix,
Et le cri que je poussai devant lui parvint à ses oreilles.

KJV ⁷ Then the earth shook and trembled; the foundations also of the hills moved and were shaken, because he was wroth.

BAN ⁸ Et la terre fut ébranlée et trembla ;
Les fondements des montagnes chancelèrent
Et furent ébranlés, parce qu'il était courroucé.

KJV ⁸ There went up a smoke out of his nostrils, and fire out of his mouth devoured: coals were kindled by it.

BAN ⁹ Une fumée montait de ses narines,
Un feu dévorant sortait de sa bouche ;
Des charbons embrasés en jaillissaient.

KJV ⁹ He bowed the heavens also, and came down: and darkness was under his feet.

BAN ¹⁰ Il abaissa les cieux et descendit ;
Une sombre nuée était sous ses pieds.

KJV ¹⁰ And he rode upon a cherub, and did fly: yea, he did fly upon the wings of the wind.

BAN ¹¹ Il était monté sur un chérubin et volait,
Planant sur les ailes du vent.

KJV ¹¹ He made darkness his secret place; his pavilion round about him were dark waters and thick clouds of the skies.

BAN ¹² Il mit tout autour de lui, comme une tente, le voile des ténèbres,
L'obscurité des eaux et les sombres nuages.

KJV ¹² At the brightness that was before him his thick clouds passed, hail stones and coals of fire.

BAN ¹³ De l'éclat qui le précédait sortaient les nuées,
Lançant la grêle et les charbons de feu.

KJV ¹³ The LORD also thundered in the heavens, and the Highest gave his voice; hail stones and coals of fire.

BAN ¹⁴ Et l'Eternel tonna dans les cieux.
Le Très-Haut fit entendre sa voix
Au milieu de la grêle et des charbons de feu.

KJV ¹⁴ Yea, he sent out his arrows, and scattered them; and he shot out lightnings, and discomfited them.

BAN ¹⁵ Il lança ses flèches et dispersa [les ennemis],
Il jeta ses foudres et les mit en déroute.

KJV ¹⁵ Then the channels of waters were seen, and the foundations of the world were discovered at thy rebuke, O LORD, at the blast of the breath of thy nostrils.

BAN ¹⁶ Alors le fond des eaux apparut,
Les fondements du monde furent mis à nu,
A ta menace, ô Eternel,
Au souffle du vent de ta colère.

KJV ¹⁶ He sent from above, he took me, he drew me out of many waters.

BAN ¹⁷ Il étendit [sa main] d'en haut, me saisit,
Me tira des grosses eaux ;

KJV ¹⁷ He delivered me from my strong enemy, and from them which hated me: for they were too strong for me.

BAN ¹⁸ Il m'arracha à mon ennemi puissant,
A mes adversaires, parce qu'ils étaient trop forts pour moi.

KJV ¹⁸ They prevented me in the day of my calamity: but the LORD was my stay.

BAN ¹⁹ Ils m'avaient surpris au jour de ma calamité,
Mais l'Eternel fut mon appui.

KJV ¹⁹ He brought me forth also into a large place; he delivered me, because he delighted in me.

BAN ²⁰ Il m'a tiré au large,
Il m'a délivré, parce qu'il a mis son plaisir en moi.

KJV ²⁰ The LORD rewarded me according to my righteousness; according to the cleanness of my hands hath he recompensed me.

BAN ²¹ L'Eternel m'a traité selon ma justice ;
Il m'a rendu selon la pureté de mes mains,

KJV ²¹ For I have kept the ways of the LORD, and have not wickedly departed from my God.

BAN ²² Car j'ai gardé les voies de l'Eternel,
Et je n'ai pas été infidèle à mon Dieu ;

KJV ²² For all his judgments were before me, and I did not put away his statutes from me.

BAN ²³ Car tous ses jugements ont été devant moi,
Et je n'ai point éloigné de moi ses statuts.

KJV ²³ I was also upright before him, and I kept myself from mine iniquity.

BAN ²⁴ J'ai été intègre avec lui,
Et je me suis tenu en garde contre mon iniquité.

KJV ²⁴ Therefore hath the LORD recompensed me according to my righteousness, according to the cleanness of my hands in his eyesight.

BAN ²⁵ Aussi l'Eternel m'a-t-il rendu selon ma justice,
Selon la pureté de mes mains devant ses yeux.

KJV ²⁵ With the merciful thou wilt shew thyself merciful; with an upright man thou wilt shew thyself upright;

BAN ²⁶ Avec celui qui est bon, tu te montres bon,
Avec l'homme intègre, tu te montres intègre ;

KJV ²⁶ With the pure thou wilt shew thyself pure; and with the froward thou wilt shew thyself froward.

BAN ²⁷ Avec celui qui se purifie, tu te montres pur,
Et tu te joues du trompeur.

KJV ²⁷ For thou wilt save the afflicted people; but wilt bring down high looks.

BAN ²⁸ Oui, tu sauves le peuple affligé,
Et tu abaisses les yeux hautains.

KJV ²⁸ For thou wilt light my candle: the LORD my God will enlighten my darkness.

BAN ²⁹ Oui, tu as fais briller ma lampe ;
L'Eternel mon Dieu a éclairé mes ténèbres.

KJV ²⁹ For by thee I have run through a troop; and by my God have I leaped over a wall.

BAN ³⁰ Oui, avec toi, je me jette sur une troupe en armes ;
Avec mon Dieu, je franchis la muraille.

KJV ³⁰ As for God, his way is perfect: the word of the LORD is tried: he is a buckler to all those that trust in him.

BAN ³¹ Les voies de Dieu sont parfaites,
La parole de l'Eternel est éprouvée au feu ;
Il est un bouclier pour tous ceux qui se réfugient auprès de lui.

KJV ³¹ For who is God save the LORD? or who is a rock save our God?

BAN ³² Car qui est Dieu, hormis l'Eternel ?
Qui est un rocher, si ce n'est notre Dieu,

KJV ³² It is God that girdeth me with strength, and maketh my way perfect.

BAN ³³ Le Dieu qui m'a ceint de force
Et qui a rendu parfaite ma voie ?

KJV ³³ He maketh my feet like hinds' feet, and setteth me upon my high places.

BAN ³⁴ Il a rendu mes pieds semblables à ceux des biches,
Et il m'a fait tenir debout sur mes hauteurs.

KJV ³⁴ He teacheth my hands to war, so that a bow of steel is broken by mine arms.

BAN ³⁵ Il a formé mes mains au combat,
Et mes bras ont tendu l'arc d'airain.

KJV ³⁵ Thou hast also given me the shield of thy salvation: and thy right hand hath holden me up, and thy gentleness hath made me great.

BAN ³⁶ Tu m'as donné le bouclier de ton salut,
Ta droite m'a soutenu,
Et ta condescendance daigna m'agrandir.

KJV ³⁶ Thou hast enlarged my steps under me, that my feet did not slip.

BAN ³⁷ Tu as élargi le chemin sous mes pas,
Et les chevilles de mes pieds n'ont pas vacillé.

KJV ³⁷ I have pursued mine enemies, and overtaken them: neither did I turn again till they were consumed.

BAN ³⁸ Je poursuis mes ennemis, et je les détruis,
Et je ne reviens pas que je ne les aie achevés.

KJV ³⁸ I have wounded them that they were not able to rise: they are fallen under my feet.

BAN ³⁹ Je les mets en pièces, et ils ne peuvent se relever ;
Ils tombent sous mes pieds.

KJV ³⁹ For thou hast girded me with strength unto the battle: thou hast subdued under me those that rose up against me.

BAN ⁴⁰ Tu m'as ceint de force pour le combat,
Tu as fait plier sous moi mes adversaires,

KJV ⁴⁰ Thou hast also given me the necks of mine enemies; that I might destroy them that hate me.

BAN ⁴¹ Tu m'as fait voir le dos de mes ennemis,
Et j'ai anéanti ceux qui me haïssaient.

KJV ⁴¹ They cried, but there was none to save them: even unto the LORD, but he answered them not.

BAN ⁴² Ils crient... personne pour les sauver !...
A l'Eternel ; il ne leur répond pas.

KJV ⁴² Then did I beat them small as the dust before the wind: I did cast them out as the dirt in the streets.

BAN ⁴³ Je les réduis en poudre, comme la poussière que le vent emporte ;
Je les balaie comme la boue des rues.

KJV ⁴³ Thou hast delivered me from the strivings of the people; and thou hast made me the head of the heathen: a people whom I have not known shall serve me.

BAN ⁴⁴ Tu m'as délivré des querelles de mon peuple,
Tu m'as placé à la tête des nations ;
Des peuples que je ne connaissais pas m'ont été soumis.

KJV ⁴⁴ As soon as they hear of me, they shall obey me: the strangers shall submit themselves unto me.

BAN ⁴⁵ Pour avoir entendu parler de moi, ils m'ont obéi ;
Les fils de l'étranger me flattent.

KJV ⁴⁵ The strangers shall fade away, and be afraid out of their close places.

BAN ⁴⁶ Les fils de l'étranger défaillent,
Et ils sortent tremblants de leurs remparts.

KJV ⁴⁶ The LORD liveth; and blessed be my rock; and let the God of my salvation be exalted.

BAN ⁴⁷ Que l'Eternel vive, et que béni soit mon Rocher !
Que le Dieu de mon salut soit exalté !

KJV ⁴⁷ It is God that avengeth me, and subdueth the people under me.

BAN ⁴⁸ Le Dieu qui m'accorde des vengeances
Et qui m'assujettit les peuples !

KJV ⁴⁸ He delivereth me from mine enemies: yea, thou liftest me up above those that rise up against me: thou hast delivered me from the violent man.

BAN ⁴⁹ Après m'avoir sauvé de mes ennemis,
Tu m'as même élevé au-dessus de mes adversaires,
Tu m'as délivré de l'homme violent.

KJV ⁴⁹ Therefore will I give thanks unto thee, O LORD, among the heathen, and sing praises unto thy name.

BAN ⁵⁰ C'est pourquoi je veux te célébrer parmi les nations, ô Eternel,
Et je chanterai ton nom !

KJV ⁵⁰ Great deliverance giveth he to his king; and sheweth mercy to his anointed, to David, and to his seed for evermore.

BAN ⁵¹ Il accorde de grandes délivrances à son roi,
Et il use de bonté envers son oint,
Envers David et sa postérité à toujours.
