KJV ¹ My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? why art thou so far from helping me, and from the words of my roaring?

WLC ¹ לַ֭מְנַצֵּחַ עַל־ אַיֶּ֥לֶת הַשַּׁ֗חַר מִזְמ֥וֹר לְדָוִֽד׃

BAN ² Mon Dieu, mon Dieu, pourquoi m'as-tu abandonné,
Te tenant éloigné, sans me délivrer,
[Sourd aux] paroles de mon rugissement ?

KJV ² O my God, I cry in the day time, but thou hearest not; and in the night season, and am not silent.

WLC ² אֵלִ֣י אֵ֭לִי לָמָ֣ה עֲזַבְתָּ֑נִי רָח֥וֹק מִֽ֝ישׁוּעָתִ֗י דִּבְרֵ֥י שַׁאֲגָתִֽי׃

BAN ³ Mon Dieu ! je crie le jour, sans que tu répondes,
Et la nuit, sans trouver de repos.

KJV ³ But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel.

WLC ³ אֱ‍ֽלֹהַ֗י אֶקְרָ֣א י֭וֹמָם וְלֹ֣א תַעֲנֶ֑ה וְ֝לַ֗יְלָה וְֽלֹא־ דֽוּמִיָּ֥ה לִֽי׃

BAN ⁴ Et pourtant tu es le Saint,
Tu sièges, entouré des louanges d'Israël.

KJV ⁴ Our fathers trusted in thee: they trusted, and thou didst deliver them.

WLC ⁴ וְאַתָּ֥ה קָד֑וֹשׁ י֝וֹשֵׁ֗ב תְּהִלּ֥וֹת יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

BAN ⁵ Nos pères se sont confiés en toi ;
Ils se sont confiés, et tu les as délivrés,

KJV ⁵ They cried unto thee, and were delivered: they trusted in thee, and were not confounded.

WLC ⁵ בְּ֭ךָ בָּטְח֣וּ אֲבֹתֵ֑ינוּ בָּ֝טְח֗וּ וַֽתְּפַלְּטֵֽמוֹ׃

BAN ⁶ Ils ont crié à toi, et ils ont échappé,
Ils se sont confiés en toi, et ils n'ont point été confus.

KJV ⁶ But I am a worm, and no man; a reproach of men, and despised of the people.

WLC ⁶ אֵלֶ֣יךָ זָעֲק֣וּ וְנִמְלָ֑טוּ בְּךָ֖ בָטְח֣וּ וְלֹא־ בֽוֹשׁוּ׃

BAN ⁷ Mais moi, je suis un ver et non point un homme,
L'opprobre des hommes et le méprisé du peuple.

KJV ⁷ All they that see me laugh me to scorn: they shoot out the lip, they shake the head, saying,

WLC ⁷ וְאָנֹכִ֣י תוֹלַ֣עַת וְלֹא־ אִ֑ישׁ חֶרְפַּ֥ת אָ֝דָ֗ם וּבְז֥וּי עָֽם׃

BAN ⁸ Tous ceux qui me voient se raillent de moi,
Ils grimacent des lèvres, hochent la tête.

KJV ⁸ He trusted on the LORD that he would deliver him: let him deliver him, seeing he delighted in him.

WLC ⁸ כָּל־ רֹ֭אַי יַלְעִ֣גוּ לִ֑י יַפְטִ֥ירוּ בְ֝שָׂפָ֗ה יָנִ֥יעוּ רֹֽאשׁ׃

BAN ⁹ Il s'en remet à l'Eternel ! Qu'il le délivre,
Qu'il le sauve, puisqu'il met son plaisir en lui !

KJV ⁹ But thou art he that took me out of the womb: thou didst make me hope when I was upon my mother's breasts.

WLC ⁹ גֹּ֣ל אֶל־ יְהוָ֣ה יְפַלְּטֵ֑הוּ יַ֝צִּילֵ֗הוּ כִּ֘י חָ֥פֵֽץ בּֽוֹ׃

BAN ¹⁰ Oui, c'est bien toi qui m'as fait sortir du sein maternel,
Qui m'as fait reposer avec confiance sur les mamelles de ma mère ;

KJV ¹⁰ I was cast upon thee from the womb: thou art my God from my mother's belly.

WLC ¹⁰ כִּֽי־ אַתָּ֣ה גֹחִ֣י מִבָּ֑טֶן מַ֝בְטִיחִ֗י עַל־ שְׁדֵ֥י אִמִּֽי׃

BAN ¹¹ J'ai été remis à tes soins dès ma naissance,
Dès le sein de ma mère tu es mon Dieu.

KJV ¹¹ Be not far from me; for trouble is near; for there is none to help.

WLC ¹¹ עָ֭לֶיךָ הָשְׁלַ֣כְתִּי מֵרָ֑חֶם מִבֶּ֥טֶן אִ֝מִּ֗י אֵ֣לִי אָֽתָּה׃

BAN ¹² Ne t'éloigne pas de moi, quand la détresse est proche,
Quand il n'y a personne pour me secourir !

KJV ¹² Many bulls have compassed me: strong bulls of Bashan have beset me round.

WLC ¹² אַל־ תִּרְחַ֣ק מִ֭מֶּנִּי כִּי־ צָרָ֣ה קְרוֹבָ֑ה כִּי־ אֵ֥ין עוֹזֵֽר׃

BAN ¹³ De nombreux taureaux m'ont entouré,
Les puissants de Basan m'ont environné.

KJV ¹³ They gaped upon me with their mouths, as a ravening and a roaring lion.

WLC ¹³ סְ֭בָבוּנִי פָּרִ֣ים רַבִּ֑ים אַבִּירֵ֖י בָשָׁ֣ן כִּתְּרֽוּנִי׃

BAN ¹⁴ Ils ouvrent leur gueule contre moi,
Comme un lion déchirant et rugissant.

KJV ¹⁴ I am poured out like water, and all my bones are out of joint: my heart is like wax; it is melted in the midst of my bowels.

WLC ¹⁴ פָּצ֣וּ עָלַ֣י פִּיהֶ֑ם אַ֝רְיֵ֗ה טֹרֵ֥ף וְשֹׁאֵֽג׃

BAN ¹⁵ Je suis comme de l'eau qui s'écoule,
Et tous mes os se sont déjoints ;
Mon coeur est comme de la cire,
Il se fond dans mes entrailles.

KJV ¹⁵ My strength is dried up like a potsherd; and my tongue cleaveth to my jaws; and thou hast brought me into the dust of death.

WLC ¹⁵ כַּמַּ֥יִם נִשְׁפַּכְתִּי֮ וְהִתְפָּֽרְד֗וּ כָּֽל־ עַצְמ֫וֹתָ֥י הָיָ֣ה לִ֭בִּי כַּדּוֹנָ֑ג נָ֝מֵ֗ס בְּת֣וֹךְ מֵעָֽי׃

BAN ¹⁶ Ma vigueur est desséchée comme la brique,
Ma langue s'attache à mon palais,
Et tu m'as couché dans la poussière de la mort.

KJV ¹⁶ For dogs have compassed me: the assembly of the wicked have inclosed me: they pierced my hands and my feet.

WLC ¹⁶ יָ֘בֵ֤שׁ כַּחֶ֨רֶשׂ ׀ כֹּחִ֗י וּ֭לְשׁוֹנִי מֻדְבָּ֣ק מַלְקוֹחָ֑י וְֽלַעֲפַר־ מָ֥וֶת תִּשְׁפְּתֵֽנִי׃

BAN ¹⁷ Car des chiens m'environnent,
Une bande de malfaiteurs m'entourent ;
Ils ont percé mes mains et mes pieds.

KJV ¹⁷ I may tell all my bones: they look and stare upon me.

WLC ¹⁷ כִּ֥י סְבָב֗וּנִי כְּלָ֫בִ֥ים עֲדַ֣ת מְ֭רֵעִים הִקִּיפ֑וּנִי כָּ֝אֲרִ֗י יָדַ֥י וְרַגְלָֽי׃

BAN ¹⁸ Je compterais tous mes os ;
Eux, ils me considèrent, ils me regardent ;

KJV ¹⁸ They part my garments among them, and cast lots upon my vesture.

WLC ¹⁸ אֲסַפֵּ֥ר כָּל־ עַצְמוֹתָ֑י הֵ֥מָּה יַ֝בִּ֗יטוּ יִרְאוּ־ בִֽי׃

BAN ¹⁹ Ils partagent entre eux mes vêtements,
Et ils jettent le sort pour ma robe.

KJV ¹⁹ But be not thou far from me, O LORD: O my strength, haste thee to help me.

WLC ¹⁹ יְחַלְּק֣וּ בְגָדַ֣י לָהֶ֑ם וְעַל־ לְ֝בוּשִׁ֗י יַפִּ֥ילוּ גוֹרָֽל׃

BAN ²⁰ Mais toi, Eternel, ne reste pas éloigné,
Toi qui es ma force, hâte-toi de venir à mon secours.

KJV ²⁰ Deliver my soul from the sword; my darling from the power of the dog.

WLC ²⁰ וְאַתָּ֣ה יְ֭הוָה אַל־ תִּרְחָ֑ק אֱ֝יָלוּתִ֗י לְעֶזְרָ֥תִי חֽוּשָׁה׃

BAN ²¹ Délivre mon âme de l'épée,
Mon unique de la patte des chiens.

KJV ²¹ Save me from the lion's mouth: for thou hast heard me from the horns of the unicorns.

WLC ²¹ הַצִּ֣ילָה מֵחֶ֣רֶב נַפְשִׁ֑י מִיַּד־ כֶּ֝֗לֶב יְחִידָתִֽי׃

BAN ²² Sauve-moi de la gueule du lion,
Et des cornes des buffles ; tu m'en as retiré !

KJV ²² I will declare thy name unto my brethren: in the midst of the congregation will I praise thee.

WLC ²² ה֭וֹשִׁיעֵנִי מִפִּ֣י אַרְיֵ֑ה וּמִקַּרְנֵ֖י רֵמִ֣ים עֲנִיתָֽנִי׃

BAN ²³ J'annoncerai ton nom à mes frères,
Je te célébrerai au milieu de l'assemblée.

KJV ²³ Ye that fear the LORD, praise him; all ye the seed of Jacob, glorify him; and fear him, all ye the seed of Israel.

WLC ²³ אֲסַפְּרָ֣ה שִׁמְךָ֣ לְאֶחָ֑י בְּת֖וֹךְ קָהָ֣ל אֲהַלְלֶֽךָּ׃

BAN ²⁴ Vous qui craignez l'Eternel, célébrez-le ;
Vous, toute la race de Jacob, glorifiez-le ;
Redoutez-le, vous, toute la race d'Israël !

KJV ²⁴ For he hath not despised nor abhorred the affliction of the afflicted; neither hath he hid his face from him; but when he cried unto him, he heard.

WLC ²⁴ יִרְאֵ֤י יְהוָ֨ה ׀ הַֽלְל֗וּהוּ כָּל־ זֶ֣רַע יַעֲקֹ֣ב כַּבְּד֑וּהוּ וְג֥וּרוּ מִ֝מֶּ֗נּוּ כָּל־ זֶ֥רַע יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

BAN ²⁵ Car il n'a pas méprisé, et il n'a pas dédaigné l'affliction de l'affligé ;
Il ne lui a point caché sa face,
Mais il l'a exaucé, quand il criait à lui.

KJV ²⁵ My praise shall be of thee in the great congregation: I will pay my vows before them that fear him.

WLC ²⁵ כִּ֤י לֹֽא־ בָזָ֨ה וְלֹ֪א שִׁקַּ֡ץ עֱנ֬וּת עָנִ֗י וְלֹא־ הִסְתִּ֣יר פָּנָ֣יו מִמֶּ֑נּוּ וּֽבְשַׁוְּע֖וֹ אֵלָ֣יו שָׁמֵֽעַ׃

BAN ²⁶ Tu seras le sujet de ma louange dans une grande assemblée ;
J'accomplirai mes voeux en présence de ceux qui te craignent.

KJV ²⁶ The meek shall eat and be satisfied: they shall praise the LORD that seek him: your heart shall live for ever.

WLC ²⁶ מֵ֥אִתְּךָ֗ תְֽהִלָּ֫תִ֥י בְּקָהָ֥ל רָ֑ב נְדָרַ֥י אֲ֝שַׁלֵּ֗ם נֶ֣גֶד יְרֵאָֽיו׃

BAN ²⁷ Les humbles mangeront et seront rassasiés ;
Ceux qui cherchent l'Eternel le loueront.
Que votre coeur vive à toujours !

KJV ²⁷ All the ends of the world shall remember and turn unto the LORD: and all the kindreds of the nations shall worship before thee.

WLC ²⁷ יֹאכְל֬וּ עֲנָוִ֨ים ׀ וְיִשְׂבָּ֗עוּ יְהַֽלְל֣וּ יְ֭הוָה דֹּ֣רְשָׁ֑יו יְחִ֖י לְבַבְכֶ֣ם לָעַֽד׃

BAN ²⁸ Toutes les extrémités de la terre se souviendront et reviendront à l'Eternel,
Et toutes les familles des nations se prosterneront en ta présence,

KJV ²⁸ For the kingdom is the LORD's: and he is the governor among the nations.

WLC ²⁸ יִזְכְּר֤וּ ׀ וְיָשֻׁ֣בוּ אֶל־ יְ֭הוָה כָּל־ אַפְסֵי־ אָ֑רֶץ וְיִֽשְׁתַּחֲו֥וּ לְ֝פָנֶ֗יךָ כָּֽל־ מִשְׁפְּח֥וֹת גּוֹיִֽם׃

BAN ²⁹ Car le règne appartient à l'Eternel,
Et il domine sur les nations.

KJV ²⁹ All they that be fat upon earth shall eat and worship: all they that go down to the dust shall bow before him: and none can keep alive his own soul.

WLC ²⁹ כִּ֣י לַ֭יהוָה הַמְּלוּכָ֑ה וּ֝מֹשֵׁ֗ל בַּגּוֹיִֽם׃

BAN ³⁰ Ils mangeront et se prosterneront aussi en sa présence, tous les opulents de la terre,
Ils s'inclineront devant lui, tous ceux qui descendent vers la poussière
Et ne peuvent conserver leur vie.

KJV ³⁰ A seed shall serve him; it shall be accounted to the Lord for a generation.

WLC ³⁰ אָכְל֬וּ וַיִּֽשְׁתַּחֲוּ֨וּ ׀ כָּֽל־ דִּשְׁנֵי־ אֶ֗רֶץ לְפָנָ֣יו יִ֭כְרְעוּ כָּל־ יוֹרְדֵ֣י עָפָ֑ר וְ֝נַפְשׁ֗וֹ לֹ֣א חִיָּֽה׃

BAN ³¹ La postérité le servira ;
On parlera du Seigneur à la génération future.

KJV ³¹ They shall come, and shall declare his righteousness unto a people that shall be born, that he hath done this.

WLC ³¹ זֶ֥רַע יַֽעַבְדֶ֑נּוּ יְסֻפַּ֖ר לַֽאדֹנָ֣י לַדּֽוֹר׃

BAN ³² Ils viendront et raconteront sa justice au peuple qui naîtra,
Car il a agi.

WLC ³² יָ֭בֹאוּ וְיַגִּ֣ידוּ צִדְקָת֑וֹ לְעַ֥ם נ֝וֹלָ֗ד כִּ֣י עָשָֽׂה׃
