Je dis : Mon oeuvre est pour le roi !
Que ma langue soit la plume d'un habile écrivain !

KJV ² Thou art fairer than the children of men: grace is poured into thy lips: therefore God hath blessed thee for ever.

BAN ³ Tu es plus beau que les fils des hommes,
La grâce est répandue sur tes lèvres ;
C'est pourquoi Dieu t'a béni à toujours.

KJV ³ Gird thy sword upon thy thigh, O most mighty, with thy glory and thy majesty.

BAN ⁴ Ceins sur ta hanche ton épée, vaillant, guerrier.
Ta splendeur et ta magnificence ;

KJV ⁴ And in thy majesty ride prosperously because of truth and meekness and righteousness; and thy right hand shall teach thee terrible things.

BAN ⁵ Monte ton coursier en vainqueur, en faveur de la vérité,
De l'humilité, de la justice,
Et ta droite t'enseignera des choses terribles.

KJV ⁵ Thine arrows are sharp in the heart of the king's enemies; whereby the people fall under thee.

BAN ⁶ Tes flèches sont aiguës, des peuples tomberont sous toi,
Elles pénètreront dans le coeur des ennemis du roi !

KJV ⁶ Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: the sceptre of thy kingdom is a right sceptre.

BAN ⁷ Ton trône, ô dieu ! est à toujours et à perpétuité ;
Le sceptre de ta royauté est un sceptre de justice,

KJV ⁷ Thou lovest righteousness, and hatest wickedness: therefore God, thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.

BAN ⁸ Tu aimes la justice, et tu hais l'iniquité ;
C'est pourquoi, ô dieu, ton Dieu, t'a oint d'une huile de joie,
Plus que tous tes semblables.

KJV ⁸ All thy garments smell of myrrh, and aloes, and cassia, out of the ivory palaces, whereby they have made thee glad.

BAN ⁹ Tes vêtements ne sont que myrrhe, aloès et casse ;
Des palais d'ivoire, les sons de la harpe te réjouissent.

KJV ⁹ Kings' daughters were among thy honourable women: upon thy right hand did stand the queen in gold of Ophir.

La reine se tient à ta droite, parée d'or d'Ophir.

BAN ¹¹ Ecoute, ma fille, regarde et prête l'oreille,
Oublie ton peuple et la maison de ton père ;

KJV ¹¹ So shall the king greatly desire thy beauty: for he is thy Lord; and worship thou him.

BAN ¹² Laisse le roi désirer ta beauté,
Car il est ton seigneur ; prosterne-toi devant lui.

KJV ¹² And the daughter of Tyre shall be there with a gift; even the rich among the people shall intreat thy favour.

BAN ¹³ Et la fille de Tyr, les plus riches des peuples,
Te flatteront par des présents.

KJV ¹³ The king's daughter is all glorious within: her clothing is of wrought gold.

BAN ¹⁴ Elle est toute magnificence, la fille du roi, au milieu du palais ;
Son vêtement est tissu d'or.

KJV ¹⁴ She shall be brought unto the king in raiment of needlework: the virgins her companions that follow her shall be brought unto thee.

BAN ¹⁵ Elle est conduite au roi, vêtue d'habits diaprés ;
A sa suite, des vierges, ses compagnes, te sont présentées ;

KJV ¹⁵ With gladness and rejoicing shall they be brought: they shall enter into the king's palace.

BAN ¹⁶ Elles sont conduites au milieu des réjouissances et de l'allégresse,
Elles viennent dans le palais du roi.

KJV ¹⁶ Instead of thy fathers shall be thy children, whom thou mayest make princes in all the earth.

BAN ¹⁷ Tes fils prendront la place de tes pères,
Tu les établiras comme chefs de toute la terre.

KJV ¹⁷ I will make thy name to be remembered in all generations: therefore shall the people praise thee for ever and ever.

BAN ¹⁸ Je rendrai ton nom mémorable de génération en génération ;
C'est pourquoi les peuples te célèbreront éternellement et à jamais !
