BAN ¹ Au huitième mois, en la deuxième année de Darius, la parole de l'Eternel fut adressée à Zacharie, fils de Barachie, fils d'Iddo, le prophète, en ces termes :

WLC ¹ בַּחֹ֙דֶשׁ֙ הַשְּׁמִינִ֔י בִּשְׁנַ֥ת שְׁתַּ֖יִם לְדָרְיָ֑וֶשׁ הָיָ֣ה דְבַר־ יְהוָ֗ה אֶל־ זְכַרְיָה֙ בֶּן־ בֶּ֣רֶכְיָ֔ה בֶּן־ עִדּ֥וֹ הַנָּבִ֖יא לֵאמֹֽר׃

BAN ² L'Eternel a été dans un grand courroux contre vos pères.

KJV ² The LORD hath been sore displeased with your fathers.

VULC ² Iratus est Dominus super patres vestros iracundia.

WLC ² קָצַ֧ף יְהוָ֛ה עַל־ אֲבֽוֹתֵיכֶ֖ם קָֽצֶף׃

BAN ³ Et tu leur diras : Ainsi a dit l'Eternel des armées : Revenez à moi, dit l'Eternel des armées, et je reviendrai à vous, a dit l'Eternel des armées.

KJV ³ Therefore say thou unto them, Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Turn ye unto me, saith the LORD of hosts, and I will turn unto you, saith the LORD of hosts.

VULC ³ Et dices ad eos : [Hæc dicit Dominus exercituum :
Convertimini ad me, ait Dominus exercituum,
et convertar ad vos, dicit Dominus exercituum.

WLC ³ וְאָמַרְתָּ֣ אֲלֵהֶ֗ם כֹּ֤ה אָמַר֙ יְהוָ֣ה צְבָא֔וֹת שׁ֣וּבוּ אֵלַ֔י נְאֻ֖ם יְהוָ֣ה צְבָא֑וֹת וְאָשׁ֣וּב אֲלֵיכֶ֔ם אָמַ֖ר יְהוָ֥ה צְבָאֽוֹת׃

BAN ⁴ Ne soyez pas comme vos pères auxquels ont prêché les premiers prophètes en disant : Ainsi a dit l'Eternel des armées : Revenez donc de vos mauvaises voies et de vos mauvaises actions.
Mais ils n'ont pas écouté et ils ne m'ont pas prêté attention, dit l'Eternel.

KJV ⁴ Be ye not as your fathers, unto whom the former prophets have cried, saying, Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Turn ye now from your evil ways, and from your evil doings: but they did not hear, nor hearken unto me, saith the LORD.

VULC ⁴ Ne sitis sicut patres vestri,
ad quos clamabant prophetæ priores, dicentes :
Hæc dicit Dominus exercituum :
Convertimini de viis vestris malis,
et de cogitationibus vestris pessimis :

WLC ⁴ אַל־ תִּהְי֣וּ כַאֲבֹֽתֵיכֶ֡ם אֲשֶׁ֣ר קָרְאֽוּ־ אֲלֵיהֶם֩ הַנְּבִיאִ֨ים הָרִֽאשֹׁנִ֜ים לֵאמֹ֗ר כֹּ֤ה אָמַר֙ יְהוָ֣ה צְבָא֔וֹת שׁ֤וּבוּ נָא֙ מִדַּרְכֵיכֶ֣ם הָרָעִ֔ים הָֽרָעִ֑ים וְלֹ֥א שָׁמְע֛וּ וְלֹֽא־ הִקְשִׁ֥יבוּ אֵלַ֖י נְאֻם־ יְהוָֽה׃

BAN ⁵ Vos pères, où sont-ils ? Et les prophètes, devaient-ils vivre à toujours ?

KJV ⁵ Your fathers, where are they? and the prophets, do they live for ever?

VULC ⁵ Patres vestri, ubi sunt ?
et prophetæ numquid in sempiternum vivent ?

WLC ⁵ אֲבֽוֹתֵיכֶ֖ם אַיֵּה־ הֵ֑ם וְהַ֨נְּבִאִ֔ים הַלְעוֹלָ֖ם יִֽחְיֽוּ׃

BAN ⁶ Mais mes paroles et mes décrets dont j'avais chargé mes serviteurs les prophètes, n'ont ils pas atteint vos pères ? Et vos pères ont changé de langage et ont dit : Comme l'Eternel des armées avait résolu d'agir à notre égard, ainsi il a agi envers nous, selon nos voies et selon nos actions.

KJV ⁶ But my words and my statutes, which I commanded my servants the prophets, did they not take hold of your fathers? and they returned and said, Like as the LORD of hosts thought to do unto us, according to our ways, and according to our doings, so hath he dealt with us.

VULC ⁶ Verumtamen verba mea, et legitima mea,
quæ mandavi servis meis prophetis,
numquid non comprehenderunt patres vestros,
et conversi sunt, et dixerunt :
Sicut cogitavit Dominus exercituum facere nobis

WLC ⁶ אַ֣ךְ ׀ דְּבָרַ֣י וְחֻקַּ֗י אֲשֶׁ֤ר צִוִּ֙יתִי֙ אֶת־ עֲבָדַ֣י הַנְּבִיאִ֔ים הֲל֥וֹא הִשִּׂ֖יגוּ אֲבֹתֵיכֶ֑ם וַיָּשׁ֣וּבוּ וַיֹּאמְר֗וּ כַּאֲשֶׁ֨ר זָמַ֜ם יְהוָ֤ה צְבָאוֹת֙ לַעֲשׂ֣וֹת לָ֔נוּ כִּדְרָכֵ֙ינוּ֙ וּכְמַ֣עֲלָלֵ֔ינוּ כֵּ֖ן עָשָׂ֥ה אִתָּֽנוּ׃

BAN ⁷ Au vingt-quatrième jour du onzième mois, qui est le mois de Schébat, en la deuxième année de Darius, la parole de l'Eternel fut adressée à Zacharie, fils de Barachie, fils d'Iddo, le prophète, de cette manière :

WLC ⁷ בְּיוֹם֩ עֶשְׂרִ֨ים וְאַרְבָּעָ֜ה לְעַשְׁתֵּֽי־ עָשָׂ֥ר חֹ֙דֶשׁ֙ הוּא־ חֹ֣דֶשׁ שְׁבָ֔ט בִּשְׁנַ֥ת שְׁתַּ֖יִם לְדָרְיָ֑וֶשׁ הָיָ֣ה דְבַר־ יְהוָ֗ה אֶל־ זְכַרְיָה֙ בֶּן־ בֶּ֣רֶכְיָ֔הוּ בֶּן־ עִדּ֥וֹא הַנָּבִ֖יא לֵאמֹֽר׃

BAN ⁸ J'eus une vision cette nuit-là ; et voici, un homme monté sur un cheval roux ; et il se tenait entre des myrtes qui étaient dans un lieu profond, et derrière lui, des chevaux roux, bruns et blancs.

KJV ⁸ I saw by night, and behold a man riding upon a red horse, and he stood among the myrtle trees that were in the bottom; and behind him were there red horses, speckled, and white.

VULC ⁸ Vidi per noctem, et ecce vir ascendens super equum rufum, et ipse stabat inter myrteta, quæ erant in profundo, et post eum equi rufi, varii, et albi.

WLC ⁸ רָאִ֣יתִי ׀ הַלַּ֗יְלָה וְהִנֵּה־ אִישׁ֙ רֹכֵב֙ עַל־ ס֣וּס אָדֹ֔ם וְה֣וּא עֹמֵ֔ד בֵּ֥ין הַהֲדַסִּ֖ים אֲשֶׁ֣ר בַּמְּצֻלָ֑ה וְאַחֲרָיו֙ סוּסִ֣ים אֲדֻמִּ֔ים שְׂרֻקִּ֖ים וּלְבָנִֽים׃

BAN ⁹ Et je dis : Qu'est-ce que ceux-ci, mon Seigneur ? Et l'ange qui me parlait, me dit : Je te ferai voir ce que sont ceux-ci.

KJV ⁹ Then said I, O my lord, what are these? And the angel that talked with me said unto me, I will shew thee what these be.

VULC ⁹ Et dixi : Quid sunt isti, domine mi ? Et dixit ad me angelus qui loquebatur in me : Ego ostendam tibi quid sint hæc.

WLC ⁹ וָאֹמַ֖ר מָה־ אֵ֣לֶּה אֲדֹנִ֑י וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אֵלַ֗י הַמַּלְאָךְ֙ הַדֹּבֵ֣ר בִּ֔י אֲנִ֥י אַרְאֶ֖ךָּ מָה־ הֵ֥מָּה אֵֽלֶּה׃

BAN ¹⁰ Et l'homme qui se tenait entre les myrtes répondit et dit : Ce sont ceux que l'Eternel a envoyés pour parcourir la terre.

KJV ¹⁰ And the man that stood among the myrtle trees answered and said, These are they whom the LORD hath sent to walk to and fro through the earth.

VULC ¹⁰ Et respondit vir qui stabat inter myrteta, et dixit : Isti sunt quos misit Dominus ut perambulent terram.

WLC ¹⁰ וַיַּ֗עַן הָאִ֛ישׁ הָעֹמֵ֥ד בֵּין־ הַהַדַסִּ֖ים וַיֹּאמַ֑ר אֵ֚לֶּה אֲשֶׁ֣ר שָׁלַ֣ח יְהוָ֔ה לְהִתְהַלֵּ֖ךְ בָּאָֽרֶץ׃

BAN ¹¹ Et ils répondirent à l'ange de l'Eternel qui se tenait entre les myrtes et ils dirent : Nous avons parcouru la terre, et voici toute la terre est en repos et tranquille.

KJV ¹¹ And they answered the angel of the LORD that stood among the myrtle trees, and said, We have walked to and fro through the earth, and, behold, all the earth sitteth still, and is at rest.

VULC ¹¹ Et responderunt angelo Domini, qui stabat inter myrteta, et dixerunt : Perambulavimus terram, et ecce omnis terra habitatur, et quiescit.

WLC ¹¹ וַֽיַּעֲנ֞וּ אֶת־ מַלְאַ֣ךְ יְהוָ֗ה הָֽעֹמֵד֙ בֵּ֣ין הַהֲדַסִּ֔ים וַיֹּאמְר֖וּ הִתְהַלַּ֣כְנוּ בָאָ֑רֶץ וְהִנֵּ֥ה כָל־ הָאָ֖רֶץ יֹשֶׁ֥בֶת וְשֹׁקָֽטֶת׃

BAN ¹² Et l'ange de l'Eternel répondit et dit : Eternel des armées, jusques à quand seras-tu sans merci pour Jérusalem et pour les villes de Juda contre lesquelles voilà soixante-dix ans que ta colère a éclaté ?

KJV ¹² Then the angel of the LORD answered and said, O LORD of hosts, how long wilt thou not have mercy on Jerusalem and on the cities of Judah, against which thou hast had indignation these threescore and ten years?

VULC ¹² Et respondit angelus Domini, et dixit : Domine exercituum, usquequo tu non misereberis Jerusalem, et urbium Juda, quibus iratus es ? iste jam septuagesimus annus est.

WLC ¹² וַיַּ֣עַן מַלְאַךְ־ יְהוָה֮ וַיֹּאמַר֒ יְהוָ֣ה צְבָא֔וֹת עַד־ מָתַ֗י אַתָּה֙ לֹֽא־ תְרַחֵ֣ם אֶת־ יְרוּשָׁלִַ֔ם וְאֵ֖ת עָרֵ֣י יְהוּדָ֑ה אֲשֶׁ֣ר זָעַ֔מְתָּה זֶ֖ה שִׁבְעִ֥ים שָׁנָֽה׃

BAN ¹³ Et l'Eternel adressa à l'ange qui me parlait de bonnes paroles, des paroles de consolation.

KJV ¹³ And the LORD answered the angel that talked with me with good words and comfortable words.

VULC ¹³ Et respondit Dominus angelo qui loquebatur in me verba bona, verba consolatoria.

WLC ¹³ וַיַּ֣עַן יְהוָ֗ה אֶת־ הַמַּלְאָ֛ךְ הַדֹּבֵ֥ר בִּ֖י דְּבָרִ֣ים טוֹבִ֑ים דְּבָרִ֖ים נִחֻמִֽים׃

BAN ¹⁴ Et l'ange qui me parlait me dit : Proclame ceci : Ainsi a dit l'Eternel des armées : J'ai été ému pour Jérusalem et Sion d'une grande jalousie ;

KJV ¹⁴ So the angel that communed with me said unto me, Cry thou, saying, Thus saith the LORD of hosts; I am jealous for Jerusalem and for Zion with a great jealousy.

VULC ¹⁴ Et dixit ad me angelus qui loquebatur in me : Clama, dicens : [Hæc dicit Dominus exercituum :
Zelatus sum Jerusalem et Sion zelo magno,

WLC ¹⁴ וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אֵלַ֗י הַמַּלְאָךְ֙ הַדֹּבֵ֣ר בִּ֔י קְרָ֣א לֵאמֹ֔ר כֹּ֥ה אָמַ֖ר יְהוָ֣ה צְבָא֑וֹת קִנֵּ֧אתִי לִירוּשָׁלִַ֛ם וּלְצִיּ֖וֹן קִנְאָ֥ה גְדוֹלָֽה׃

BAN ¹⁵ et je suis violemment irrité contre les nations qui vivent, à l'aise, parce que je n'étais, moi, que peu irrité, et elles ont, elles, aidé au mal.

KJV ¹⁵ And I am very sore displeased with the heathen that are at ease: for I was but a little displeased, and they helped forward the affliction.

VULC ¹⁵ et ira magna ego irascor super gentes opulentas,
quia ego iratus sum parum,
ipsi vero adjuverunt in malum.

WLC ¹⁵ וְקֶ֤צֶף גָּדוֹל֙ אֲנִ֣י קֹצֵ֔ף עַל־ הַגּוֹיִ֖ם הַשַּֽׁאֲנַנִּ֑ים אֲשֶׁ֤ר אֲנִי֙ קָצַ֣פְתִּי מְּעָ֔ט וְהֵ֖מָּה עָזְר֥וּ לְרָעָֽה׃

BAN ¹⁶ C'est pourquoi ainsi parle l'Eternel : Je me suis retourné vers Jérusalem avec compassion ; ma maison y sera rebâtie, dit l'Eternel des armées, et le cordeau sera étendu sur Jérusalem.

KJV ¹⁶ Therefore thus saith the LORD; I am returned to Jerusalem with mercies: my house shall be built in it, saith the LORD of hosts, and a line shall be stretched forth upon Jerusalem.

VULC ¹⁶ Propterea hæc dicit Dominus :
Revertar ad Jerusalem in misericordiis,
et domus mea ædificabitur in ea, ait Dominus exercituum,
et perpendiculum extendetur super Jerusalem.]

WLC ¹⁶ לָכֵ֞ן כֹּֽה־ אָמַ֣ר יְהוָ֗ה שַׁ֤בְתִּי לִירוּשָׁלִַ֙ם֙ בְּֽרַחֲמִ֔ים בֵּיתִי֙ יִבָּ֣נֶה בָּ֔הּ נְאֻ֖ם יְהוָ֣ה צְבָא֑וֹת יִנָּטֶ֖ה עַל־ יְרוּשָׁלִָֽם׃

BAN ¹⁷ Proclame encore ceci : Ainsi parle l'Eternel des armées : Mes villes regorgeront encore de biens, et l'Eternel consolera encore Sion et fera encore choix de Jérusalem.

KJV ¹⁷ Cry yet, saying, Thus saith the LORD of hosts; My cities through prosperity shall yet be spread abroad; and the LORD shall yet comfort Zion, and shall yet choose Jerusalem.

VULC ¹⁷ Adhuc clama, dicens : [Hæc dicit Dominus exercituum :
Adhuc affluent civitates meæ bonis,
et consolabitur adhuc Dominus Sion, et eliget adhuc Jerusalem.]

WLC ¹⁷ ע֣וֹד ׀ קְרָ֣א לֵאמֹ֗ר כֹּ֤ה אָמַר֙ יְהוָ֣ה צְבָא֔וֹת ע֛וֹד תְּפוּצֶ֥ינָה עָרַ֖י מִטּ֑וֹב וְנִחַ֨ם יְהוָ֥ה עוֹד֙ אֶת־ צִיּ֔וֹן וּבָחַ֥ר ע֖וֹד בִּירוּשָׁלִָֽם׃

BAN ¹⁸ Et je levai les yeux et je vis ; et voici quatre cornes.

KJV ¹⁸ Then lifted I up mine eyes, and saw, and behold four horns.

VULC ¹⁸ Et levavi oculos meos, et vidi, et ecce quatuor cornua.

BAN ¹⁹ Et je dis à l'ange qui me parlait : Qu'est-ce que ces cornes ? Et il me dit : Ce sont les cornes qui ont dispersé Juda, Israël et Jérusalem.

KJV ¹⁹ And I said unto the angel that talked with me, What be these? And he answered me, These are the horns which have scattered Judah, Israel, and Jerusalem.

VULC ¹⁹ Et dixi ad angelum qui loquebatur in me : Quid sunt hæc ? Et dixit ad me : Hæc sunt cornua quæ ventilaverunt Judam, et Israël, et Jerusalem.

BAN ²⁰ Et l'Eternel me fit voir quatre forgerons.

KJV ²⁰ And the LORD shewed me four carpenters.

VULC ²⁰ Et ostendit mihi Dominus quatuor fabros.

BAN ²¹ Et je dis : Qu'est-ce que ceux-ci viennent faire ? Et il dit : Ce sont là les cornes qui ont dispersé Juda, au point que personne ne levait la tête, et ceux-ci sont venus pour les frapper d'effroi, pour abattre les cornes des nations qui ont levé la corne contre le pays de Juda pour le disperser.

KJV ²¹ Then said I, What come these to do? And he spake, saying, These are the horns which have scattered Judah, so that no man did lift up his head: but these are come to fray them, to cast out the horns of the Gentiles, which lifted up their horn over the land of Judah to scatter it.

VULC ²¹ Et dixi : Quid isti veniunt facere ? Qui ait, dicens : Hæc sunt cornua quæ ventilaverunt Judam per singulos viros, et nemo eorum levavit caput suum : et venerunt isti deterrere ea, ut dejiciant cornua gentium, quæ levaverunt cornu super terram Juda ut dispergerent eam.
