   ¹ La parole de l'Eternel des armées fut adressée en ces mots : ² Ainsi parle l'Eternel des armées : Je ressens pour Sion une grande jalousie : avec une grande ardeur je suis jaloux pour elle. ³ Ainsi parle l'Eternel : Je suis revenu à Sion et j'habite au milieu de Jérusalem. Jérusalem est appelée la ville de vérité, et la montagne de l'Eternel des armées, la montagne de sainteté. ⁴ Ainsi a dit l'Eternel des armées : Il y aura de nouveau des vieillards et des femmes âgées assis dans les places de Jérusalem, chacun son bâton dans sa main, à cause de son grand âge ; ⁵ et les places de la ville seront remplies de jeunes garçons et de jeunes filles jouant dans les places. ⁶ Ainsi a dit l'Eternel des armées : Si cela paraît merveilleux aux yeux du reste de ce peuple en ces jours-là, à mes yeux aussi cela sera-t-il merveilleux ? dit l'Eternel des armées. ⁷ Ainsi a dit l'Eternel des armées : Je vais délivrer mon peuple de la terre du levant et de la terre du soleil couchant. ⁸ Je les fais venir et ils habiteront au milieu de Jérusalem ; ils seront mon peuple et moi je serai leur Dieu, avec vérité et justice.
   ⁹ Ainsi a dit l'Eternel des armées : Que vos mains se fortifient, vous qui entendez en ces jours ces paroles de la bouche des prophètes qui ont parlé dans le temps où la maison de l'Eternel, le temple, fut fondée pour être rebâtie. ¹⁰ Avant ce temps-là, il n'y avait point de salaire pour l'homme, point de salaire pour le bétail ; il n'y avait, pour ceux qui sortaient et qui entraient, point de sûreté à cause de l'ennemi, et je mettais tout homme aux prises avec son prochain. ¹¹ Mais maintenant, je ne serai plus à l'égard du reste de ce peuple comme j'ai été naguère, dit l'Eternel des armées. ¹² Car la semence réussira, la vigne donnera son fruit, la terre donnera son produit, les cieux donneront leur rosée et je mettrai le reste de ce peuple en possession de toutes ces choses. ¹³ Et comme vous avez été malédiction parmi les nations, maison de Juda et maison d'Israël, ainsi je vous délivrerai et vous serez bénédiction. Ne craignez point ! Que vos mains se fortifient. ¹⁴ Car ainsi a dit l'Eternel des armées : Comme j'ai eu dessein de vous faire du mal, lorsque vos pères m'irritèrent, dit l'Eternel des armées, et je ne m'en suis pas repenti, ¹⁵ ainsi j'ai dessein de nouveau, en ces jours-ci de faire du bien à Jérusalem et à la maison de Juda ; ne craignez point ! ¹⁶ Voici ce que vous devez faire : dites la vérité chacun à son prochain ; rendez la justice dans vos portes selon la vérité et pour la paix ; ¹⁷ ne méditez pas dans vos coeurs du mal l'un contre l'autre et n'aimez pas le faux serment ; car ce sont là toutes choses que je hais, dit l'Eternel.
   ¹⁸ Et la parole de l'Eternel des armées me fut adressée en ces mots : ¹⁹ Ainsi a dit l'Eternel des armées : Le jeûne du quatrième mois, le jeûne du cinquième, le jeûne du septième, le jeûne du dixième mois deviendront pour la maison de Juda des jours de réjouissance et d'allégresse, des solennités joyeuses. Mais aimez la vérité et la paix. ²⁰ Ainsi a dit l'Eternel des armées : Il viendra encore des peuples et les habitants de villes nombreuses. ²¹ Les habitants de l'une iront à l'autre, disant : Allons, allons implorer l'Eternel et rechercher l'Eternel des armées. Moi aussi je veux aller ! ²² Et des peuples nombreux, de puissantes nations viendront rechercher l'Eternel des armées à Jérusalem et implorer l'Eternel. ²³ Ainsi a dit l'Eternel des armées : En ces jours-là, dix hommes de toutes langues des nations saisiront le pan de la robe d'un Juif et diront : Que nous allions avec vous, car nous avons appris que Dieu est avec vous !

   ¹ Again the word of the LORD of hosts came to me, saying, ² Thus saith the LORD of hosts; I was jealous for Zion with great jealousy, and I was jealous for her with great fury. ³ Thus saith the LORD; I am returned unto Zion, and will dwell in the midst of Jerusalem: and Jerusalem shall be called a city of truth; and the mountain of the LORD of hosts the holy mountain. ⁴ Thus saith the LORD of hosts; There shall yet old men and old women dwell in the streets of Jerusalem, and every man with his staff in his hand for very age. ⁵ And the streets of the city shall be full of boys and girls playing in the streets thereof. ⁶ Thus saith the LORD of hosts; If it be marvellous in the eyes of the remnant of this people in these days, should it also be marvellous in mine eyes? saith the LORD of hosts. ⁷ Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Behold, I will save my people from the east country, and from the west country; ⁸ And I will bring them, and they shall dwell in the midst of Jerusalem: and they shall be my people, and I will be their God, in truth and in righteousness.
   ⁹ Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Let your hands be strong, ye that hear in these days these words by the mouth of the prophets, which were in the day that the foundation of the house of the LORD of hosts was laid, that the temple might be built. ¹⁰ For before these days there was no hire for man, nor any hire for beast; neither was there any peace to him that went out or came in because of the affliction: for I set all men every one against his neighbour. ¹¹ But now I will not be unto the residue of this people as in the former days, saith the LORD of hosts. ¹² For the seed shall be prosperous; the vine shall give her fruit, and the ground shall give her increase, and the heavens shall give their dew; and I will cause the remnant of this people to possess all these things. ¹³ And it shall come to pass, that as ye were a curse among the heathen, O house of Judah, and house of Israel; so will I save you, and ye shall be a blessing: fear not, but let your hands be strong. ¹⁴ For thus saith the LORD of hosts; As I thought to punish you, when your fathers provoked me to wrath, saith the LORD of hosts, and I repented not: ¹⁵ So again have I thought in these days to do well unto Jerusalem and to the house of Judah: fear ye not. ¹⁶ These are the things that ye shall do; Speak ye every man the truth to his neighbour; execute the judgment of truth and peace in your gates: ¹⁷ And let none of you imagine evil in your hearts against his neighbour; and love no false oath: for all these are things that I hate, saith the LORD.
   ¹⁸ And the word of the LORD of hosts came unto me, saying, ¹⁹ Thus saith the LORD of hosts; The fast of the fourth month, and the fast of the fifth, and the fast of the seventh, and the fast of the tenth, shall be to the house of Judah joy and gladness, and cheerful feasts; therefore love the truth and peace. ²⁰ Thus saith the LORD of hosts; It shall yet come to pass, that there shall come people, and the inhabitants of many cities: ²¹ And the inhabitants of one city shall go to another, saying, Let us go speedily to pray before the LORD, and to seek the LORD of hosts: I will go also. ²² Yea, many people and strong nations shall come to seek the LORD of hosts in Jerusalem, and to pray before the LORD. ²³ Thus saith the LORD of hosts; In those days it shall come to pass, that ten men shall take hold out of all languages of the nations, even shall take hold of the skirt of him that is a Jew, saying, We will go with you: for we have heard that God is with you.
