¹⁵ Il n'y eut que Jonathan, fils d'Azahel, et Jaasias, fils de Thécuah, pour combattre cet avis ; et Mosollam et Sebéthaï, le lévite, les appuyèrent.
¹⁶ Mais les fils de la captivité firent comme il avait été dit. Esdras, le prêtre, et des hommes, chefs de familles selon leurs maisons, tous désignés par leurs noms, se mirent à part et siégèrent le premier jour du dixième mois pour examiner l'affaire.
¹⁷ Ils en eurent fini le premier jour du premier mois avec tous les hommes qui avaient établi chez eux des femmes étrangères.
¹⁸ Parmi les fils des prêtres, il s'en trouva qui avaient établi chez eux des femmes étrangères, savoir : des fils de Josué, fils de Josédec, et de ses frères : Maasias, Éliézer, Jarib et Godolias ;
¹⁹ ils donnèrent parole de renvoyer leurs femmes et, se déclarant coupables, d'offrir un bélier pour l'expiation de leur faute.
²⁰ Des fils d'Emmer : Hanani et Zébédias.
²¹ Des fils de Harim : Maasias, Elie, Séméïas, Jéhiel et Ozias.
²² Des fils de Phashur : Elioénaï, Maasias, Ismaël, Nathanaël, Jozabed et Elasa.
²³ ‒ Parmi les lévites : Jozabed, Séméï, Célaïas, le même que Célita, Phataïas, Juda et Éliézer.- Parmi les chantres : Eliasib.

¹⁵ Seuls, Jonathan, fils d'Asçaël, et Jakhzia, fils de Thikva, s'opposèrent à cela* ; et Meshullam, et Shabthaï, le lévite, les appuyèrent.
¹⁶ Et les fils de la transportation firent ainsi. Et Esdras, le sacrificateur, et des hommes qui étaient chefs des pères, furent séparés selon leurs maisons de pères, et tous par leurs noms. Et ils s'assirent le premier jour du dixième mois pour examiner l'affaire ;
¹⁷ et, le premier jour du premier mois, ils en eurent fini avec tous les hommes qui avaient pris* des femmes étrangères.
¹⁸ Et, parmi les fils des sacrificateurs, il s'en trouva qui avaient pris des femmes étrangères : des fils de Jéshua, fils de Jotsadak, et de ses frères : Maascéïa, et Éliézer, et Jarib, et Guedalia.
¹⁹ Et ils s'engagèrent à renvoyer leurs femmes, et ils offrirent pour leur faute*, un bélier du troupeau comme offrande pour le délit.
²⁰ Et des fils d'Immer : Hanani et Zebadia ;
²¹ et des fils de Harim, Maascéïa, et Élie, et Shemahia, et Jekhiel, et Ozias ;
²² et des fils de Pashkhur, Élioénaï, Maascéïa, Ismaël, Nethaneël, Jozabad et Elhasça.
²³ Et des lévites : Jozabad, et Shimhi, et Kélaïa (c'est Kelita), Pethakhia, Juda, et Éliézer.
²⁴ Et des chantres : Éliashib. Et des portiers : Shallum, et Télem, et Uri.

¹⁵ Only Jonathan the son of Asahel and Jahaziah the son of Tikvah were employed about this matter: and Meshullam and Shabbethai the Levite helped them.
¹⁶ And the children of the captivity did so. And Ezra the priest, with certain chief of the fathers, after the house of their fathers, and all of them by their names, were separated, and sat down in the first day of the tenth month to examine the matter.
¹⁷ And they made an end with all the men that had taken strange wives by the first day of the first month.
¹⁸ And among the sons of the priests there were found that had taken strange wives: namely, of the sons of Jeshua the son of Jozadak, and his brethren; Maaseiah, and Eliezer, and Jarib, and Gedaliah.
¹⁹ And they gave their hands that they would put away their wives; and being guilty, they offered a ram of the flock for their trespass.
²⁰ And of the sons of Immer; Hanani, and Zebadiah.
²¹ And of the sons of Harim; Maaseiah, and Elijah, and Shemaiah, and Jehiel, and Uzziah.
²² And of the sons of Pashur; Elioenai, Maaseiah, Ishmael, Nethaneel, Jozabad, and Elasah.
²³ Also of the Levites; Jozabad, and Shimei, and Kelaiah, (the same is Kelita,) Pethahiah, Judah, and Eliezer.
²⁴ Of the singers also; Eliashib: and of the porters; Shallum, and Telem, and Uri.
²⁵ Moreover of Israel: of the sons of Parosh; Ramiah, and Jeziah, and Malchiah, and Miamin, and Eleazar, and Malchijah, and Benaiah.
²⁶ And of the sons of Elam; Mattaniah, Zechariah, and Jehiel, and Abdi, and Jeremoth, and Eliah.

²⁸ Of the sons also of Bebai; Jehohanan, Hananiah, Zabbai, and Athlai.
