¹ Au maître chantre. Ne détruis pas. Ecrit de David, quand il s'enfuit de devant Saül dans la caverne.
² Aie pitié de moi, ô Dieu, aie pitié de moi, Car mon âme s'est réfugiée vers toi, Et c'est à l'ombre de tes ailes que je prendrai mon refuge, Jusqu'à ce que les calamités soient passées.
³ Je crierai au Dieu Très-Haut, Au Dieu qui agit en ma faveur.
⁴ Il enverra du ciel et me sauvera, En dépit des blasphèmes de celui qui cherche à m'engloutir. (Jeu d'instruments.)
⁵ Dieu enverra sa grâce et sa fidélité. Mon âme est au milieu des lions ; Je suis couché au milieu d'ennemis dévorants, D'hommes dont les dents sont des lances et des flèches, Et dont la langue est un glaive tranchant.
⁶ Elève-toi au-dessus des cieux, ô Dieu ! Que ta gloire soit sur toute la terre !
⁷ Ils avaient tendu un filet sous mes pas, Mon âme succombait ; Ils avaient creusé une fosse devant moi, Ils y sont tombés ! (Jeu d'instruments.)
⁸ Mon coeur est rassuré, ô Dieu, mon coeur est rassuré ; Je veux chanter et psalmodier.
⁹ Réveille-toi, ma gloire, réveille-toi, luth et harpe ! J'éveillerai l'aurore.
¹⁰ Je te louerai parmi les peuples, ô Seigneur ! Je te psalmodierai parmi les nations,
¹¹ Car ta grâce atteint jusqu'aux cieux Et ta fidélité jusqu'aux nues.
¹² Elève-toi au-dessus des cieux, ô Dieu ! Que ta gloire soit sur toute la terre !

¹ Be merciful unto me, O God, be merciful unto me: for my soul trusteth in thee: yea, in the shadow of thy wings will I make my refuge, until these calamities be overpast.
² I will cry unto God most high; unto God that performeth all things for me.
³ He shall send from heaven, and save me from the reproach of him that would swallow me up. Selah. God shall send forth his mercy and his truth.
⁴ My soul is among lions: and I lie even among them that are set on fire, even the sons of men, whose teeth are spears and arrows, and their tongue a sharp sword.
⁵ Be thou exalted, O God, above the heavens; let thy glory be above all the earth.
⁶ They have prepared a net for my steps; my soul is bowed down: they have digged a pit before me, into the midst whereof they are fallen themselves. Selah.
⁷ My heart is fixed, O God, my heart is fixed: I will sing and give praise.
⁸ Awake up, my glory; awake, psaltery and harp: I myself will awake early.
⁹ I will praise thee, O Lord, among the people: I will sing unto thee among the nations.
