BAN ² et Jonathan en informa David, disant : Saül, mon père, cherche à te faire mourir ; et maintenant prends garde à toi demain au matin ; tiens-toi à l'écart et cache-toi.

KJV ² But Jonathan Saul's son delighted much in David: and Jonathan told David, saying, Saul my father seeketh to kill thee: now therefore, I pray thee, take heed to thyself until the morning, and abide in a secret place, and hide thyself:

S21 ² Il l'en informa en lui disant: «Mon père Saül cherche à te faire mourir. Tiens-toi donc sur tes gardes demain matin, reste à l'écart et cache-toi.

VULC ² et indicavit Jonathas David, dicens : Quærit Saul pater meus occidere te : quapropter observa te, quæso, mane : et manebis clam, et absconderis.

WLC ² וַיַּגֵּ֤ד יְהוֹנָתָן֙ לְדָוִ֣ד לֵאמֹ֔ר מְבַקֵּ֛שׁ שָׁא֥וּל אָבִ֖י לַהֲמִיתֶ֑ךָ וְעַתָּה֙ הִשָּֽׁמֶר־ נָ֣א בַבֹּ֔קֶר וְיָשַׁבְתָּ֥ בַסֵּ֖תֶר וְנַחְבֵּֽאתָ׃

BAN ³ Et moi, je sortirai et me tiendrai à côté de mon père dans le champ où tu seras ; moi, je parlerai de toi à mon père, et je verrai ce qui en sera, et je te le ferai savoir.

KJV ³ And I will go out and stand beside my father in the field where thou art, and I will commune with my father of thee; and what I see, that I will tell thee.

S21 ³ Quant à moi, je sortirai et je me tiendrai aux côtés de mon père dans le champ où tu te trouveras. Je lui parlerai de toi. Je verrai alors ce qu'il dira et je te le rapporterai.»

BAN ⁴ Et Jonathan parla favorablement de David à Saül son père, et lui dit : Que le roi ne pèche pas contre son serviteur, contre David, car il n'a pas péché à ton égard ; et même ce qu'il t'a fait t'a été fort utile.

KJV ⁴ And Jonathan spake good of David unto Saul his father, and said unto him, Let not the king sin against his servant, against David; because he hath not sinned against thee, and because his works have been to thee-ward very good:

S21 ⁴ Jonathan parla en bien de David à son père Saül. Il dit: «Que le roi ne commette pas de péché envers son serviteur David, car il n'en a pas commis envers toi. Au contraire, il a agi pour ton bien:

VULC ⁴ Locutus est ergo Jonathas de David bona ad Saul patrem suum : dixitque ad eum : Ne pecces rex in servum tuum David, quia non peccavit tibi, et opera ejus bona sunt tibi valde.

WLC ⁴ וַיְדַבֵּ֨ר יְהוֹנָתָ֤ן בְּדָוִד֙ ט֔וֹב אֶל־ שָׁא֖וּל אָבִ֑יו וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אֵ֠לָיו אַל־ יֶחֱטָ֨א הַמֶּ֜לֶךְ בְּעַבְדּ֣וֹ בְדָוִ֗ד כִּ֣י ל֤וֹא חָטָא֙ לָ֔ךְ וְכִ֥י מַעֲשָׂ֖יו טוֹב־ לְךָ֥ מְאֹֽד׃

BAN ⁵ Il a exposé sa vie et frappé le Philistin, et l'Eternel a opéré une grande délivrance pour tout Israël. Tu l'as vu et tu t'en es réjoui. Pourquoi pécherais-tu contre le sang innocent, en faisant mourir David sans raison ?

KJV ⁵ For he did put his life in his hand, and slew the Philistine, and the LORD wrought a great salvation for all Israel: thou sawest it, and didst rejoice: wherefore then wilt thou sin against innocent blood, to slay David without a cause?

S21 ⁵ il a risqué sa vie, il a tué le Philistin, et l'Eternel a accompli une grande délivrance pour tout Israël. Tu as vu cela et tu t'en es réjoui. Pourquoi pécherais-tu contre le sang innocent et ferais-tu mourir David sans raison?»

VULC ⁵ Et posuit animam suam in manu sua, et percussit Philisthæum, et fecit Dominus salutem magnam universo Israëli : vidisti, et lætatus es. Quare ergo peccas in sanguine innoxio, interficiens David, qui est absque culpa ?

BAN ⁶ Et Saül écouta la voix de Jonathan, et Saül jura, en disant : L'Eternel est vivant ! il ne mourra pas.

KJV ⁶ And Saul hearkened unto the voice of Jonathan: and Saul sware, As the LORD liveth, he shall not be slain.

BAN ⁷ Et Jonathan appela David, et Jonathan lui rapporta toutes ces paroles ; et Jonathan ramena David vers Saül, et il se tint en sa présence comme auparavant.

KJV ⁷ And Jonathan called David, and Jonathan shewed him all those things. And Jonathan brought David to Saul, and he was in his presence, as in times past.

S21 ⁷ Jonathan appela David et lui rapporta toutes ces paroles, puis il le conduisit chez Saül, et David fut à son service comme auparavant.

BAN ⁸ Et la guerre ayant recommencé, David sortit pour combattre les Philistins et il leur fit subir une grand défaite, et ils s'enfuirent devant lui.

KJV ⁸ And there was war again: and David went out, and fought with the Philistines, and slew them with a great slaughter; and they fled from him.

S21 ⁸ La guerre continuait. David marcha contre les Philistins et se battit contre eux. Il leur infligea une grande défaite et ils prirent la fuite devant lui.

VULC ⁸ Motum est autem rursum bellum : et egressus David, pugnavit adversum Philisthiim : percussitque eos plaga magna, et fugerunt a facie ejus.

BAN ⁹ Et le mauvais esprit de l'Eternel fut sur Saül, et il était assis dans sa maison, sa lance à la main ; et David jouait de la harpe.

KJV ⁹ And the evil spirit from the LORD was upon Saul, as he sat in his house with his javelin in his hand: and David played with his hand.

S21 ⁹ Alors le mauvais esprit envoyé par l'Eternel fut sur Saül. Celui-ci était assis dans sa maison, sa lance à la main.

VULC ⁹ Et factus est spiritus Domini malus in Saul : sedebat autem in domo sua, et tenebat lanceam : porro David psallebat manu sua.

WLC ⁹ וַתְּהִי֩ ר֨וּחַ יְהוָ֤ה ׀ רָעָה֙ אֶל־ שָׁא֔וּל וְהוּא֙ בְּבֵית֣וֹ יוֹשֵׁ֔ב וַחֲנִית֖וֹ בְּיָד֑וֹ וְדָוִ֖ד מְנַגֵּ֥ן בְּיָֽד׃

BAN ¹⁰ Et Saül chercha à frapper de sa lance David et la paroi, et David esquiva le coup, et la lance frappa la paroi. Et David s'enfuit et s'échappa cette nuit-là.

KJV ¹⁰ And Saul sought to smite David even to the wall with the javelin: but he slipped away out of Saul's presence, and he smote the javelin into the wall: and David fled, and escaped that night.

S21 ¹⁰ David jouait. Saül voulut le clouer avec sa lance contre la paroi, mais David l'évita et la lance s'enfonça dans la paroi. David prit la fuite et s'échappa pendant la nuit.

VULC ¹⁰ Nisusque est Saul configere David lancea in pariete, et declinavit David a facie Saul : lancea autem casso vulnere perlata est in parietem, et David fugit, et salvatus est nocte illa.

WLC ¹⁰ וַיְבַקֵּ֨שׁ שָׁא֜וּל לְהַכּ֤וֹת בַּֽחֲנִית֙ בְּדָוִ֣ד וּבַקִּ֔יר וַיִּפְטַר֙ מִפְּנֵ֣י שָׁא֔וּל וַיַּ֥ךְ אֶֽת־ הַחֲנִ֖ית בַּקִּ֑יר וְדָוִ֛ד נָ֥ס וַיִּמָּלֵ֖ט בַּלַּ֥יְלָה הֽוּא׃

BAN ¹¹ Et Saül envoya des gens à la maison de David pour s'assurer de lui et le faire mourir au matin. Et Mical, femme de David, le lui apprit en disant : Si tu ne te sauves cette nuit, demain tu es mort.

KJV ¹¹ Saul also sent messengers unto David's house, to watch him, and to slay him in the morning: and Michal David's wife told him, saying, If thou save not thy life to night, to morrow thou shalt be slain.

S21 ¹¹ Saül envoya des hommes à la maison de David pour le surveiller et le faire mourir au matin. Mais Mical, la femme de David, l'en informa en lui disant: «Si tu ne te sauves pas cette nuit, demain tu es un homme mort.»

VULC ¹¹ Misit ergo Saul satellites suos in domum David, ut custodirent eum, et interficeretur mane. Quod cum annuntiasset David Michol uxor sua, dicens : Nisi salvaveris te nocte hac, cras morieris :

WLC ¹¹ וַיִּשְׁלַח֩ שָׁא֨וּל מַלְאָכִ֜ים אֶל־ בֵּ֤ית דָּוִד֙ לְשָׁמְר֔וֹ וְלַהֲמִית֖וֹ בַּבֹּ֑קֶר וַתַּגֵּ֣ד לְדָוִ֗ד מִיכַ֤ל אִשְׁתּוֹ֙ לֵאמֹ֔ר אִם־ אֵ֨ינְךָ֜ מְמַלֵּ֤ט אֶֽת־ נַפְשְׁךָ֙ הַלַּ֔יְלָה מָחָ֖ר אַתָּ֥ה מוּמָֽת׃

BAN ¹² Et Mical fit descendre David par la fenêtre, et il s'enfuit et échappa.

KJV ¹² So Michal let David down through a window: and he went, and fled, and escaped.

S21 ¹² Elle le fit descendre par la fenêtre, et David s'en alla et prit la fuite. C'est ainsi qu'il s'échappa.

VULC ¹² deposuit eum per fenestram. Porro ille abiit et aufugit, atque salvatus est.

WLC ¹² וַתֹּ֧רֶד מִיכַ֛ל אֶת־ דָּוִ֖ד בְּעַ֣ד הַחַלּ֑וֹן וַיֵּ֥לֶךְ וַיִּבְרַ֖ח וַיִּמָּלֵֽט׃

BAN ¹³ Et Mical prit le théraphim, et le plaça dans le lit ; et elle mit une peau de chèvre à l'endroit de sa tête et le couvrit d'un vêtement.

KJV ¹³ And Michal took an image, and laid it in the bed, and put a pillow of goats' hair for his bolster, and covered it with a cloth.

S21 ¹³ Ensuite Mical prit le théraphim et le plaça dans le lit. Elle mit une peau de chèvre à la tête du lit et elle enveloppa le théraphim d'une couverture.

VULC ¹³ Tulit autem Michol statuam, et posuit eam super lectum, et pellem pilosam caprarum posuit ad caput ejus, et operuit eam vestimentis.

BAN ¹⁴ Et Saül envoya des gens pour prendre David, et elle dit : Il est malade.

KJV ¹⁴ And when Saul sent messengers to take David, she said, He is sick.

S21 ¹⁴ Lorsque Saül envoya des hommes arrêter David, elle dit: «Il est malade.»

VULC ¹⁴ Misit autem Saul apparitores, qui raperent David : et responsum est quod ægrotaret.

WLC ¹⁴ וַיִּשְׁלַ֥ח שָׁא֛וּל מַלְאָכִ֖ים לָקַ֣חַת אֶת־ דָּוִ֑ד וַתֹּ֖אמֶר חֹלֶ֥ה הֽוּא׃

BAN ¹⁵ Et Saül renvoya des gens pour voir David, en disant : Apportez-le moi dans le lit, afin que je le fasse mourir.

KJV ¹⁵ And Saul sent the messengers again to see David, saying, Bring him up to me in the bed, that I may slay him.

S21 ¹⁵ Saül les renvoya pour qu'ils le voient en disant: «Apportez-le-moi dans son lit, afin que je le fasse mourir.»

VULC ¹⁵ Rursumque misit Saul nuntios ut viderent David, dicens : Afferte eum ad me in lecto, ut occidatur.

WLC ¹⁵ וַיִּשְׁלַ֤ח שָׁאוּל֙ אֶת־ הַמַּלְאָכִ֔ים לִרְא֥וֹת אֶת־ דָּוִ֖ד לֵאמֹ֑ר הַעֲל֨וּ אֹת֧וֹ בַמִּטָּ֛ה אֵלַ֖י לַהֲמִתֽוֹ׃

BAN ¹⁶ Et quand les envoyés arrivèrent, c'était le théraphim qui était dans le lit, et il y avait une peau de chèvre à l'endroit de sa tête.

KJV ¹⁶ And when the messengers were come in, behold, there was an image in the bed, with a pillow of goats' hair for his bolster.

S21 ¹⁶ Ces envoyés revinrent et constatèrent que c'était le théraphim qui était dans le lit, avec une peau de chèvre à l'endroit de la tête.

VULC ¹⁶ Cumque venissent nuntii, inventum est simulacrum super lectum, et pellis caprarum ad caput ejus.

WLC ¹⁶ וַיָּבֹ֙אוּ֙ הַמַּלְאָכִ֔ים וְהִנֵּ֥ה הַתְּרָפִ֖ים אֶל־ הַמִּטָּ֑ה וּכְבִ֥יר הָעִזִּ֖ים מְרַאֲשֹׁתָֽיו׃

BAN ¹⁷ Et Saül dit à Mical : Pourquoi m'as-tu ainsi trompé, et as-tu fait échapper mon ennemi ? Et Mical dit à Saül : Il m'a dit : Laisse-moi partir, pourquoi te tuerais-je ?

KJV ¹⁷ And Saul said unto Michal, Why hast thou deceived me so, and sent away mine enemy, that he is escaped? And Michal answered Saul, He said unto me, Let me go; why should I kill thee?

S21 ¹⁷ Saül dit à Mical: «Pourquoi m'as-tu ainsi trompé et as-tu laissé partir mon ennemi? Voilà qu'il s'est échappé!» Mical répondit à Saül: «Il m'a dit: ‘Laisse-moi partir ou je te tue!'»

VULC ¹⁷ Dixitque Saul ad Michol : Quare sic illusisti mihi, et dimisisti inimicum meum ut fugeret ? Et respondit Michol ad Saul : Quia ipse locutus est mihi : Dimitte me, alioquin interficiam te.

WLC ¹⁷ וַיֹּ֨אמֶר שָׁא֜וּל אֶל־ מִיכַ֗ל לָ֤מָּה כָּ֙כָה֙ רִמִּיתִ֔נִי וַתְּשַׁלְּחִ֥י אֶת־ אֹיְבִ֖י וַיִּמָּלֵ֑ט וַתֹּ֤אמֶר מִיכַל֙ אֶל־ שָׁא֔וּל הוּא־ אָמַ֥ר אֵלַ֛י שַׁלְּחִ֖נִי לָמָ֥ה אֲמִיתֵֽךְ׃

BAN ¹⁸ Et David s'enfuit et échappa, et il se rendit chez Samuel à Rama, et lui raconta tout ce que Saül lui avait fait. Et ils allèrent, lui et Samuel, demeurer à Najoth.

KJV ¹⁸ So David fled, and escaped, and came to Samuel to Ramah, and told him all that Saul had done to him. And he and Samuel went and dwelt in Naioth.

S21 ¹⁸ C'est ainsi que David prit la fuite et put s'échapper. Il se rendit vers Samuel à Rama et lui raconta tout ce que Saül lui avait fait. Puis il alla avec Samuel habiter à Najoth.

S21 ¹⁹ On le rapporta à Saül en disant: «David se trouve à Najoth, près de Rama.»

VULC ¹⁹ Nuntiatum est autem Sauli a dicentibus : Ecce David in Najoth in Ramatha.

WLC ¹⁹ וַיֻּגַּ֥ד לְשָׁא֖וּל לֵאמֹ֑ר הִנֵּ֣ה דָוִ֔ד בָּרָמָֽה׃

BAN ²⁰ Et Saül envoya des gens pour prendre David ; et ils virent la troupe des prophètes qui prophétisaient, et Samuel se tenait là présidant sur eux ; et l'Esprit de Dieu saisit les envoyés de Saül, et ils prophétisèrent eux aussi.

KJV ²⁰ And Saul sent messengers to take David: and when they saw the company of the prophets prophesying, and Samuel standing as appointed over them, the Spirit of God was upon the messengers of Saul, and they also prophesied.

S21 ²⁰ Saül envoya des hommes arrêter David. Ils virent une assemblée de prophètes en train de prophétiser, avec Samuel à leur tête. L'Esprit de Dieu reposa sur les envoyés de Saül et ils se mirent eux aussi à prophétiser.

KJV ²¹ And when it was told Saul, he sent other messengers, and they prophesied likewise. And Saul sent messengers again the third time, and they prophesied also.

S21 ²¹ On le rapporta à Saül, qui envoya d'autres hommes, et eux aussi se mirent à prophétiser. Il en envoya encore, pour la troisième fois, et ils se mirent également à prophétiser.

BAN ²² Et Saül alla lui aussi à Rama ; et quand il fut arrivé à la grande citerne qui est à Sécou, il demanda : Où sont Samuel et David ? Et on lui dit : Ils sont à Najoth en Rama.

KJV ²² Then went he also to Ramah, and came to a great well that is in Sechu: and he asked and said, Where are Samuel and David? And one said, Behold, they be at Naioth in Ramah.

S21 ²² Alors Saül se rendit lui-même à Rama. Arrivé à la grande citerne qui se trouve à Sécou, il demanda: «Où sont Samuel et David?» On lui répondit: «Ils sont à Najoth, près de Rama.»

VULC ²² abiit etiam ipse in Ramatha, et venit usque ad cisternam magnam quæ est in Socho, et interrogavit, et dixit : In quo loco sunt Samuel et David ? Dictumque est ei : Ecce in Najoth sunt in Ramatha.

WLC ²² וַיֵּ֨לֶךְ גַּם־ ה֜וּא הָרָמָ֗תָה וַיָּבֹא֙ עַד־ בּ֤וֹר הַגָּדוֹל֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר בַּשֶּׂ֔כוּ וַיִּשְׁאַ֣ל וַיֹּ֔אמֶר אֵיפֹ֥ה שְׁמוּאֵ֖ל וְדָוִ֑ד וַיֹּ֕אמֶר הִנֵּ֖ה בָּרָמָֽה׃

BAN ²³ Et il se dirigea vers Najoth en Rama, et l'Esprit de Dieu le saisit lui aussi, et continuant son chemin il prophétisait jusqu'à ce qu'il arriva à Najoth en Rama.

KJV ²³ And he went thither to Naioth in Ramah: and the Spirit of God was upon him also, and he went on, and prophesied, until he came to Naioth in Ramah.

S21 ²³ Il prit alors la direction de Najoth, près de Rama. L'Esprit de Dieu reposa aussi sur lui et Saül continua son chemin en prophétisant jusqu'à son arrivée à Najoth, près de Rama.

VULC ²³ Et abiit in Najoth in Ramatha, et factus est etiam super eum spiritus Domini, et ambulabat ingrediens, et prophetabat usque dum veniret in Najoth in Ramatha.

BAN ²⁴ Et il ôta lui aussi ses vêtements, et il prophétisa, lui aussi, devant Samuel ; et il resta gisant nu à terre tout ce jour-là et toute la nuit. C'est pourquoi l'on dit Saül est-il aussi parmi les prophètes ?

KJV ²⁴ And he stripped off his clothes also, and prophesied before Samuel in like manner, and lay down naked all that day and all that night. Wherefore they say, Is Saul also among the prophets?

S21 ²⁴ Il retira ses vêtements et prophétisa aussi devant Samuel. Il se jeta nu par terre et resta ainsi tout ce jour-là et toute la nuit. Voilà pourquoi l'on dit: «Saül est-il aussi parmi les prophètes?»

VULC ²⁴ Et expoliavit etiam ipse se vestimentis suis, et prophetavit cum ceteris coram Samuele, et cecidit nudus tota die illa et nocte. Unde et exivit proverbium : Num et Saul inter prophetas ?
