BAN ¹ Et David adressa à l'Eternel les paroles de ce cantique, après que l'Eternel l'eut délivré de la main de tous ses ennemis et de la main de Saül.

KJV ¹ And David spake unto the LORD the words of this song in the day that the LORD had delivered him out of the hand of all his enemies, and out of the hand of Saul:

BAN ² Et il dit :
L'Eternel est mon rocher, ma forteresse et mon libérateur.

KJV ² And he said, The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer;

BAN ³ Dieu est le roc où je me retire,
Mon bouclier et la corne de mon salut,
Ma haute retraite et mon refuge.
Mon Sauveur ! tu me sauves de la violence !

KJV ³ The God of my rock; in him will I trust: he is my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower, and my refuge, my saviour; thou savest me from violence.

BAN ⁴ Celui qui est digne de louanges, je l'invoque, l'Eternel,
Et je suis délivré de mes ennemis.

KJV ⁴ I will call on the LORD, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from mine enemies.

BAN ⁵ Les vagues de la mort m'entouraient ;
Les torrents de la perversité m'épouvantaient ;

KJV ⁵ When the waves of death compassed me, the floods of ungodly men made me afraid;

BAN ⁶ Les liens du sépulcre m'enlaçaient ;
Les filets de la mort m'avaient surpris.

KJV ⁶ The sorrows of hell compassed me about; the snares of death prevented me;

BAN ⁷ Dans mon angoisse, j'invoquai l'Eternel,
Et je criai à mon Dieu ;
De son palais, il entendit ma voix,
Et mon cri parvint à ses oreilles.

KJV ⁷ In my distress I called upon the LORD, and cried to my God: and he did hear my voice out of his temple, and my cry did enter into his ears.

BAN ⁸ Et la terre fut ébranlée et trembla ;
Les fondements des cieux chancelèrent
Et furent ébranlés, parce qu'il était courroucé.

KJV ⁸ Then the earth shook and trembled; the foundations of heaven moved and shook, because he was wroth.

BAN ⁹ Une fumée montait de ses narines,
Et un feu dévorant sortait de sa bouche ;
Des charbons embrasés en jaillissaient.

KJV ⁹ There went up a smoke out of his nostrils, and fire out of his mouth devoured: coals were kindled by it.

BAN ¹⁰ Il abaissa les cieux et descendit.
Il y avait une sombre nuée sous ses pieds.

KJV ¹⁰ He bowed the heavens also, and came down; and darkness was under his feet.

BAN ¹¹ Il était monté sur un chérubin et volait,
Et il parut sur les ailes du vent.

KJV ¹¹ And he rode upon a cherub, and did fly: and he was seen upon the wings of the wind.

BAN ¹² Il mit les ténèbres autour de lui comme une tente,
Des amas d'eaux et de sombres nuages.

KJV ¹² And he made darkness pavilions round about him, dark waters, and thick clouds of the skies.

BAN ¹³ De l'éclat qui le précédait
Jaillissaient des charbons en feu.

KJV ¹³ Through the brightness before him were coals of fire kindled.

BAN ¹⁴ L'Eternel tonna des cieux
Et le Très-Haut fit entendre sa voix ;

KJV ¹⁴ The LORD thundered from heaven, and the most High uttered his voice.

BAN ¹⁵ Il lança des flèches et dispersa [mes ennemis],
La foudre, et les mit en déroute.

KJV ¹⁵ And he sent out arrows, and scattered them; lightning, and discomfited them.

BAN ¹⁶ Et les vallées de la mer parurent,
Les fondements du monde furent mis à nu,
Au grondement de l'Eternel,
Au souffle du vent de ses narines.

KJV ¹⁶ And the channels of the sea appeared, the foundations of the world were discovered, at the rebuking of the LORD, at the blast of the breath of his nostrils.

BAN ¹⁷ Il étendit [sa main] d'en-haut et me saisit,
Il me tira des grandes eaux ;

KJV ¹⁷ He sent from above, he took me; he drew me out of many waters;

BAN ¹⁸ Il m'arracha à mon ennemi puissant,
A mes adversaires, parce qu'ils étaient trop forts pour moi.

KJV ¹⁸ He delivered me from my strong enemy, and from them that hated me: for they were too strong for me.

BAN ¹⁹ Ils m'avaient surpris au jour de ma calamité,
Et l'Eternel fut mon appui.

KJV ¹⁹ They prevented me in the day of my calamity: but the LORD was my stay.

BAN ²⁰ Il m'a tiré au large,
Il m'a délivré, parce qu'il a mis son plaisir en moi.

KJV ²⁰ He brought me forth also into a large place: he delivered me, because he delighted in me.

BAN ²¹ L'Eternel m'a traité selon ma justice,
Il m'a rendu selon la pureté de mes mains ;

KJV ²¹ The LORD rewarded me according to my righteousness: according to the cleanness of my hands hath he recompensed me.

BAN ²² Car j'ai gardé les voies de l'Eternel,
Et je n'ai point été infidèle à mon Dieu ;

KJV ²² For I have kept the ways of the LORD, and have not wickedly departed from my God.

BAN ²³ Car tous ses jugements ont été devant moi,
Et ses statuts, je ne m'en suis pas écarté.

KJV ²³ For all his judgments were before me: and as for his statutes, I did not depart from them.

BAN ²⁴ J'ai été intègre envers lui,
Et je me suis gardé de mon iniquité.

KJV ²⁴ I was also upright before him, and have kept myself from mine iniquity.

BAN ²⁵ Et l'Eternel m'a rendu selon ma justice,
Selon ma pureté,qui était devant ses yeux.

KJV ²⁵ Therefore the LORD hath recompensed me according to my righteousness; according to my cleanness in his eye sight.

BAN ²⁶ Avec celui qui est bon, tu te montres bon,
Avec l'homme droit, tu te montres droit.

KJV ²⁶ With the merciful thou wilt shew thyself merciful, and with the upright man thou wilt shew thyself upright.

BAN ²⁷ Avec celui qui est pur, tu te montres pur,
Et avec l'homme fourbe, tu agis perfidement.

KJV ²⁷ With the pure thou wilt shew thyself pure; and with the froward thou wilt shew thyself unsavoury.

BAN ²⁸ Tu sauves le peuple affligé,
Et de ton regard tu abaisses les hautains.

KJV ²⁸ And the afflicted people thou wilt save: but thine eyes are upon the haughty, that thou mayest bring them down.

BAN ²⁹ Car tu as été mon flambeau, ô Eternel !
L'Eternel a éclairé mes ténèbres.

KJV ²⁹ For thou art my lamp, O LORD: and the LORD will lighten my darkness.

BAN ³⁰ Car avec toi je me suis jeté sur une troupe,
Avec mon Dieu j'ai franchi la muraille.

KJV ³⁰ For by thee I have run through a troop: by my God have I leaped over a wall.

BAN ³¹ Les voies de Dieu sont parfaites.
La parole de l'Eternel est éprouvée au feu ;
Il est un bouclier pour tous ceux qui se retirent vers lui.

KJV ³¹ As for God, his way is perfect; the word of the LORD is tried: he is a buckler to all them that trust in him.

BAN ³² Car qui est Dieu, hormis l'Eternel,
Et qui est un rocher, si ce n'est notre Dieu ?

KJV ³² For who is God, save the LORD? and who is a rock, save our God?

BAN ³³ Dieu est ma forte citadelle,
Et il conduit l'homme intègre sur sa voie ;

KJV ³³ God is my strength and power: and he maketh my way perfect.

BAN ³⁴ Il rend ses pieds semblables à ceux des biches
Et il me fait tenir debout sur mes hauteurs.

KJV ³⁴ He maketh my feet like hinds' feet: and setteth me upon my high places.

BAN ³⁵ Il forme mes mains au combat,
Et mes bras tendent l'arc d'airain.

KJV ³⁵ He teacheth my hands to war; so that a bow of steel is broken by mine arms.

BAN ³⁶ Tu me donnes ton secours pour bouclier,
Et ta condescendance m'agrandit.

KJV ³⁶ Thou hast also given me the shield of thy salvation: and thy gentleness hath made me great.

BAN ³⁷ Tu élargis le chemin sous mes pas,
Et les chevilles de mes pieds n'ont pas vacillé.

KJV ³⁷ Thou hast enlarged my steps under me; so that my feet did not slip.

BAN ³⁸ Je poursuis mes ennemis, et je les détruis ;
Je ne reviens pas que je ne les aie achevés.

KJV ³⁸ I have pursued mine enemies, and destroyed them; and turned not again until I had consumed them.

BAN ³⁹ Je les achève, je les écrase, et ils ne se relèvent pas ;
Ils tombent sous mes pieds.

KJV ³⁹ And I have consumed them, and wounded them, that they could not arise: yea, they are fallen under my feet.

BAN ⁴⁰ Tu me ceins de force pour le combat ;
Tu as fait plier sous moi mes adversaires,

KJV ⁴⁰ For thou hast girded me with strength to battle: them that rose up against me hast thou subdued under me.

BAN ⁴¹ Tu m'as fait voir le dos de mes ennemis,
Et ceux qui me haïssent, je les anéantis.

KJV ⁴¹ Thou hast also given me the necks of mine enemies, that I might destroy them that hate me.

BAN ⁴² Ils regardent... point de Sauveur !...
A l'Eternel ; il ne leur répond pas !

KJV ⁴² They looked, but there was none to save; even unto the LORD, but he answered them not.

BAN ⁴³ Je les pulvérise comme la poussière de la terre,
Je les broie, je les foule comme la boue des rues.

KJV ⁴³ Then did I beat them as small as the dust of the earth, I did stamp them as the mire of the street, and did spread them abroad.

BAN ⁴⁴ Tu me délivres des querelles de mon peuple,
Tu me conserves pour être chef des nations.
Des peuples que je ne connaissais pas me servent.

KJV ⁴⁴ Thou also hast delivered me from the strivings of my people, thou hast kept me to be head of the heathen: a people which I knew not shall serve me.

BAN ⁴⁵ Les fils de l'étranger me flattent ;
Sitôt que leur oreille a ouï, ils m'obéissent.

KJV ⁴⁵ Strangers shall submit themselves unto me: as soon as they hear, they shall be obedient unto me.

BAN ⁴⁶ Les fils de l'étranger défaillent
Et ils se ceignent en abandonnant leurs remparts.

KJV ⁴⁶ Strangers shall fade away, and they shall be afraid out of their close places.

BAN ⁴⁷ Que l'Eternel vive et que béni soit mon rocher !
Que le Dieu, rocher de mon salut, soit exalté !

KJV ⁴⁷ The LORD liveth; and blessed be my rock; and exalted be the God of the rock of my salvation.

BAN ⁴⁸ Le Dieu qui m'accorde des vengeances,
Qui abaisse les peuples sous moi,

KJV ⁴⁸ It is God that avengeth me, and that bringeth down the people under me.

BAN ⁴⁹ Qui m'arrache à mes ennemis !
Qui m'élève au-dessus de mes adversaires !
Tu me délivres de l'homme violent.

KJV ⁴⁹ And that bringeth me forth from mine enemies: thou also hast lifted me up on high above them that rose up against me: thou hast delivered me from the violent man.

BAN ⁵⁰ C'est pourquoi je te célébrerai, ô Eternel, parmi les nations,
Et je chanterai ton nom !

KJV ⁵⁰ Therefore I will give thanks unto thee, O LORD, among the heathen, and I will sing praises unto thy name.

BAN ⁵¹ Il accorde de grandes délivrances à son roi,
Et il use de bonté envers son oint,
Envers David et sa postérité à toujours.

KJV ⁵¹ He is the tower of salvation for his king: and sheweth mercy to his anointed, unto David, and to his seed for evermore.

BAN ¹ Voici les dernières paroles de David :
Oracle de David, fils d'Isaï,
Oracle de l'homme haut élevé,
De l'oint du Dieu de Jacob,
Du doux chantre d'Israël :

KJV ¹ Now these be the last words of David. David the son of Jesse said, and the man who was raised up on high, the anointed of the God of Jacob, and the sweet psalmist of Israel, said,

BAN ² L'Esprit de l'Eternel a parlé par moi,
Et sa parole est sur mes lèvres.

KJV ² The Spirit of the LORD spake by me, and his word was in my tongue.

BAN ³ Le Dieu d'Israël a parlé,
Le Rocher d'Israël m'a dit :
Un dominateur juste sur les hommes,
Un dominateur dans la crainte de Dieu !

KJV ³ The God of Israel said, the Rock of Israel spake to me, He that ruleth over men must be just, ruling in the fear of God.

BAN ⁴ C'est comme quand, à la lumière du matin, le soleil resplendit ;
Un matin sans nuage !

KJV ⁴ And he shall be as the light of the morning, when the sun riseth, even a morning without clouds; as the tender grass springing out of the earth by clear shining after rain.

BAN ⁵ De son éclat après la pluie l'herbe [sort], de la terre.
N'en est-il pas ainsi de ma maison devant Dieu ?
Car il a établi pour, moi une alliance éternelle,
Bien ordonnée de tous points et bien gardée !
Ne fera-t-il donc pas germer tout mon salut et tout ce que je désire ?

KJV ⁵ Although my house be not so with God; yet he hath made with me an everlasting covenant, ordered in all things, and sure: for this is all my salvation, and all my desire, although he make it not to grow.

BAN ⁶ Mais les pervers sont tous comme des épines que l'on jette ;
On ne les prend pas avec la main.

KJV ⁶ But the sons of Belial shall be all of them as thorns thrust away, because they cannot be taken with hands:

BAN ⁷ L'homme qui y touche se munit d'un fer et d'un bois de lance,
Et on les brûle complètement sur place.

KJV ⁷ But the man that shall touch them must be fenced with iron and the staff of a spear; and they shall be utterly burned with fire in the same place.

BAN ⁸ Voici les noms des vaillants hommes de David :
Joseb Bassébeth, le Tachkémonite, chef des officiers ; il brandit sa lance sur huit cents hommes tués dans une seule rencontre.

KJV ⁸ These be the names of the mighty men whom David had: The Tachmonite that sat in the seat, chief among the captains; the same was Adino the Eznite: he lift up his spear against eight hundred, whom he slew at one time.

BAN ⁹ Après lui, Eléazar, fils de Dodo, fils d'Achochi. Il était l'un des trois guerriers qui accompagnaient David, lorsqu'ils défièrent les Philistins qui étaient assemblés là pour combattre, et que les hommes d'Israël gagnaient les hauteurs.

KJV ⁹ And after him was Eleazar the son of Dodo the Ahohite, one of the three mighty men with David, when they defied the Philistines that were there gathered together to battle, and the men of Israel were gone away:

BAN ¹⁰ Il se leva et frappa les Philistins jusqu'à ce que sa main fut lasse et qu'elle resta attachée à son épée. Et l'Eternel opéra une grande délivrance en ce jour-là ; le peuple revint à sa suite, mais seulement pour piller.

KJV ¹⁰ He arose, and smote the Philistines until his hand was weary, and his hand clave unto the sword: and the LORD wrought a great victory that day; and the people returned after him only to spoil.

BAN ¹¹ Après lui Samma, fils d'Agué, de Harar. Les Philistins s'étaient assemblés en troupe ; il y avait là une pièce de terre remplie de lentilles, et le peuple fuyait devant les Philistins.

KJV ¹¹ And after him was Shammah the son of Agee the Hararite. And the Philistines were gathered together into a troop, where was a piece of ground full of lentiles: and the people fled from the Philistines.

BAN ¹² Il se plaça au milieu du champ et le défendit, et frappa les Philistins, et l'Eternel opéra une grande délivrance.

KJV ¹² But he stood in the midst of the ground, and defended it, and slew the Philistines: and the LORD wrought a great victory.

BAN ¹³ Et trois d'entre les trente chefs, descendirent au temps de la moisson et vinrent vers David, à la caverne d'Adullam, tandis qu'une troupe de Philistins était campée dans la vallée des Réphaïm.

KJV ¹³ And three of the thirty chief went down, and came to David in the harvest time unto the cave of Adullam: and the troop of the Philistines pitched in the valley of Rephaim.

BAN ¹⁴ David était alors dans la forteresse, et il y avait en même temps un poste de Philistins à Bethléem.

KJV ¹⁴ And David was then in an hold, and the garrison of the Philistines was then in Bethlehem.

BAN ¹⁵ Et David eut un désir, et dit. Qui me fera boire de l'eau de la citerne qui est à la porte de Bethléem ?

KJV ¹⁵ And David longed, and said, Oh that one would give me drink of the water of the well of Bethlehem, which is by the gate!

BAN ¹⁶ Alors les trois vaillants hommes passèrent au travers du camp des Philistins, et puisèrent de l'eau de la citerne qui est à la porte de Bethléem ; ils l'apportèrent et la présentèrent à David ; mais il ne voulut pas la boire, et il en fit une libation à l'Eternel,

KJV ¹⁶ And the three mighty men brake through the host of the Philistines, and drew water out of the well of Bethlehem, that was by the gate, and took it, and brought it to David: nevertheless he would not drink thereof, but poured it out unto the LORD.

BAN ¹⁷ et il dit : Loin de moi, ô Eternel, de faire cela ! N'est-ce pas le sang de ces hommes qui sont allés au péril de leur vie ? Et il ne voulut pas la boire. Voilà ce que firent les trois vaillants hommes.

KJV ¹⁷ And he said, Be it far from me, O LORD, that I should do this: is not this the blood of the men that went in jeopardy of their lives? therefore he would not drink it. These things did these three mighty men.

BAN ¹⁸ Et Abisaï, frère de Joab, fils de Tséruja, était chef des officiers. Il brandit sa lance sur trois cents hommes tués ; et il eut du renom parmi les trois.

KJV ¹⁸ And Abishai, the brother of Joab, the son of Zeruiah, was chief among three. And he lifted up his spear against three hundred, and slew them, and had the name among three.

BAN ¹⁹ Il était plus considéré que les trente et, il fut leur chef, mais il n'égala pas les trois.

KJV ¹⁹ Was he not most honourable of three? therefore he was their captain: howbeit he attained not unto the first three.

BAN ²⁰ Et Bénaïa, fils de Jéhojada, fils d'un homme vaillant, grand en exploits, de Kabtséel, frappa les deux lions de Dieu de Moab ; et il descendit et frappa un lion dans une citerne, par un jour de neige.

KJV ²⁰ And Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, the son of a valiant man, of Kabzeel, who had done many acts, he slew two lionlike men of Moab: he went down also and slew a lion in the midst of a pit in time of snow:

BAN ²¹ C'est lui aussi qui frappa un Egyptien d'un aspect redoutable et qui avait une lance à la main ; il descendit vers lui avec un bâton, arracha la lance de la main de l'Egyptien et le tua avec sa lance.

KJV ²¹ And he slew an Egyptian, a goodly man: and the Egyptian had a spear in his hand; but he went down to him with a staff, and plucked the spear out of the Egyptian's hand, and slew him with his own spear.

BAN ²² Voilà ce que fit Bénaïa, fils de Jéhojada ; et il eut du renom parmi les trois hommes forts.

KJV ²² These things did Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and had the name among three mighty men.

BAN ²³ Il était plus considéré que les trente, mais il n'égala pas les trois. David lui donna une place dans son conseil.

KJV ²³ He was more honourable than the thirty, but he attained not to the first three. And David set him over his guard.

BAN ²⁴ Asaël, frère de Joab, était des trente ;
Elchanan, fils de Dodo, de Bethléem ;

KJV ²⁴ Asahel the brother of Joab was one of the thirty; Elhanan the son of Dodo of Bethlehem,

BAN ²⁵ Samma, de Harod ; Elika, de Harod ;

KJV ²⁵ Shammah the Harodite, Elika the Harodite,

BAN ²⁶ Hélets, de Pélet ; Ira, fils d'Ikkesch, de Thékoa ;

KJV ²⁶ Helez the Paltite, Ira the son of Ikkesh the Tekoite,

BAN ²⁷ Abiézer, d'Anathoth ; Mébunnaï, de Husa ;

KJV ²⁷ Abiezer the Anethothite, Mebunnai the Hushathite,

BAN ²⁸ Tsalmon, d'Achoach ; Maharaï, de Nétopha ;

KJV ²⁸ Zalmon the Ahohite, Maharai the Netophathite,

BAN ²⁹ Héleb, fils de Baana, de Nétopha ;
Itthaï, fils de Ribaï, de Guibéa des fils de Benjamin ;

KJV ²⁹ Heleb the son of Baanah, a Netophathite, Ittai the son of Ribai out of Gibeah of the children of Benjamin,

BAN ³⁰ Bénaïa, de Pirathon ; Hiddaï, de Nahalé-Gaas ;

KJV ³⁰ Benaiah the Pirathonite, Hiddai of the brooks of Gaash,

BAN ³¹ Abi-Albon, d'Araba ; Azmaveth, de Bahurim ;

KJV ³¹ Abialbon the Arbathite, Azmaveth the Barhumite,

BAN ³² Eliachba, de Saalbon ; Bené-Jaschen, Jonathan ;

KJV ³² Eliahba the Shaalbonite, of the sons of Jashen, Jonathan,

BAN ³³ Samma, de Harar ; Achiam, fils de Sarar, d'Arar ;

KJV ³³ Shammah the Hararite, Ahiam the son of Sharar the Hararite,

KJV ³⁴ Eliphelet the son of Ahasbai, the son of the Maachathite, Eliam the son of Ahithophel the Gilonite,

KJV ³⁵ Hezrai the Carmelite, Paarai the Arbite,
