BAN ¹ Lorsque tu sortiras pour combattre contre tes ennemis et que tu verras chevaux et chariots, une armée plus nombreuse que toi, tu n'auras pas peur d'eux, car l'Eternel ton Dieu est avec toi, lui qui t'a fait monter du pays d'Egypte.

BAN ⁴ car l'Eternel votre Dieu marche avec vous pour combattre pour vous contre vos ennemis, afin de vous délivrer.

BAN ⁵ Ensuite les préposés parleront au peuple en disant : Qui est-ce qui a bâti une maison neuve et n'en a pas encore pris possession ? Qu'il s'en aille et retourne chez lui, de peur qu'il ne meure dans la bataille et qu'un autre n'en prenne possession.

BAN ⁹ Et quand les préposés auront fini de parler au peuple, on placera les chefs des troupes à la tête du peuple.

BAN ¹⁹ Lorsque tu assiégeras longtemps une ville que tu attaques pour t'en emparer, tu n'en détruiras pas les arbres en y portant la hache ; tu en mangeras le fruit et tu ne les abattras pas, (car l'arbre des champs, c'est l'homme), pour les mettre devant toi dans le siège.

KJV ¹⁹ When thou shalt besiege a city a long time, in making war against it to take it, thou shalt not destroy the trees thereof by forcing an axe against them: for thou mayest eat of them, and thou shalt not cut them down (for the tree of the field is man's life) to employ them in the siege:

BAN ²⁰ Ce ne sont que les arbres dont tu sais qu'ils ne sont pas des arbres fruitiers que tu pourras détruire et abattre, et dont tu pourras faire des machines de siège contre la ville qui est en guerre avec toi jusqu'à ce qu'elle succombe.

KJV ²⁰ Only the trees which thou knowest that they be not trees for meat, thou shalt destroy and cut them down; and thou shalt build bulwarks against the city that maketh war with thee, until it be subdued.
