BAN ³ Et Israël aimait Joseph plus que tous ses autres fils, car c'était un fils de sa vieillesse, et il lui fit une robe longue.

KJV ³ Now Israel loved Joseph more than all his children, because he was the son of his old age: and he made him a coat of many colours.

WLC ³ וְיִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל אָהַ֤ב אֶת־ יוֹסֵף֙ מִכָּל־ בָּנָ֔יו כִּֽי־ בֶן־ זְקֻנִ֥ים ה֖וּא ל֑וֹ וְעָ֥שָׂה ל֖וֹ כְּתֹ֥נֶת פַּסִּֽים׃

BAN ⁴ Et ses frères virent que leur père l'aimait plus que tous ses frères, et ils le prirent en haine, et ils ne pouvaient lui parler amicalement.

KJV ⁴ And when his brethren saw that their father loved him more than all his brethren, they hated him, and could not speak peaceably unto him.

WLC ⁴ וַיִּרְא֣וּ אֶחָ֗יו כִּֽי־ אֹת֞וֹ אָהַ֤ב אֲבִיהֶם֙ מִכָּל־ אֶחָ֔יו וַֽיִּשְׂנְא֖וּ אֹת֑וֹ וְלֹ֥א יָכְל֖וּ דַּבְּר֥וֹ לְשָׁלֹֽם׃

BAN ⁵ Et Joseph eut un songe, et il le raconta à ses frères, et ils le haïrent encore plus.

KJV ⁵ And Joseph dreamed a dream, and he told it his brethren: and they hated him yet the more.

WLC ⁵ וַיַּחֲלֹ֤ם יוֹסֵף֙ חֲל֔וֹם וַיַּגֵּ֖ד לְאֶחָ֑יו וַיּוֹסִ֥פוּ ע֖וֹד שְׂנֹ֥א אֹתֽוֹ׃

BAN ⁶ Il leur dit : Ecoutez, je vous prie, ce songe que j'ai eu.

KJV ⁶ And he said unto them, Hear, I pray you, this dream which I have dreamed:

WLC ⁶ וַיֹּ֖אמֶר אֲלֵיהֶ֑ם שִׁמְעוּ־ נָ֕א הַחֲל֥וֹם הַזֶּ֖ה אֲשֶׁ֥ר חָלָֽמְתִּי׃

BAN ⁷ Voici, nous étions à lier des gerbes au milieu des champs. Et voici ma gerbe s'est levée et s'est tenue debout ; et voici vos gerbes l'ont entourée et se sont prosternées devant ma gerbe.

KJV ⁷ For, behold, we were binding sheaves in the field, and, lo, my sheaf arose, and also stood upright; and, behold, your sheaves stood round about, and made obeisance to my sheaf.

WLC ⁷ וְ֠הִנֵּה אֲנַ֜חְנוּ מְאַלְּמִ֤ים אֲלֻמִּים֙ בְּת֣וֹךְ הַשָּׂדֶ֔ה וְהִנֵּ֛ה קָ֥מָה אֲלֻמָּתִ֖י וְגַם־ נִצָּ֑בָה וְהִנֵּ֤ה תְסֻבֶּ֙ינָה֙ אֲלֻמֹּ֣תֵיכֶ֔ם וַתִּֽשְׁתַּחֲוֶ֖יןָ לַאֲלֻמָּתִֽי׃

BAN ⁸ Et ses frères lui dirent : Règnerais-tu donc sur nous, ou nous gouvernerais-tu ? Et ils le haïrent encore plus pour ses songes et pour ses paroles.

KJV ⁸ And his brethren said to him, Shalt thou indeed reign over us? or shalt thou indeed have dominion over us? And they hated him yet the more for his dreams, and for his words.

WLC ⁸ וַיֹּ֤אמְרוּ לוֹ֙ אֶחָ֔יו הֲמָלֹ֤ךְ תִּמְלֹךְ֙ עָלֵ֔ינוּ אִם־ מָשׁ֥וֹל תִּמְשֹׁ֖ל בָּ֑נוּ וַיּוֹסִ֤פוּ עוֹד֙ שְׂנֹ֣א אֹת֔וֹ עַל־ חֲלֹמֹתָ֖יו וְעַל־ דְּבָרָֽיו׃

BAN ⁹ Et il eut encore un autre songe, et il le raconta à ses frères, et il dit : Voici, j'ai eu encore un songe ; et voici le soleil, la lune et onze étoiles se prosternaient devant moi.

KJV ⁹ And he dreamed yet another dream, and told it his brethren, and said, Behold, I have dreamed a dream more; and, behold, the sun and the moon and the eleven stars made obeisance to me.

WLC ⁹ וַיַּחֲלֹ֥ם עוֹד֙ חֲל֣וֹם אַחֵ֔ר וַיְסַפֵּ֥ר אֹת֖וֹ לְאֶחָ֑יו וַיֹּ֗אמֶר הִנֵּ֨ה חָלַ֤מְתִּֽי חֲלוֹם֙ ע֔וֹד וְהִנֵּ֧ה הַשֶּׁ֣מֶשׁ וְהַיָּרֵ֗חַ וְאַחַ֤ד עָשָׂר֙ כּֽוֹכָבִ֔ים מִֽשְׁתַּחֲוִ֖ים לִֽי׃

BAN ¹⁰ Et il le raconta à son père et à ses frères ; et son père le réprimanda et lui dit : Qu'est-ce que ce songe que tu as eu ? Faudra-t-il que nous venions, moi, ta mère et tes frères, nous prosterner en terre devant toi ?

KJV ¹⁰ And he told it to his father, and to his brethren: and his father rebuked him, and said unto him, What is this dream that thou hast dreamed? Shall I and thy mother and thy brethren indeed come to bow down ourselves to thee to the earth?

WLC ¹⁰ וַיְסַפֵּ֣ר אֶל־ אָבִיו֮ וְאֶל־ אֶחָיו֒ וַיִּגְעַר־ בּ֣וֹ אָבִ֔יו וַיֹּ֣אמֶר ל֔וֹ מָ֛ה הַחֲל֥וֹם הַזֶּ֖ה אֲשֶׁ֣ר חָלָ֑מְתָּ הֲב֣וֹא נָב֗וֹא אֲנִי֙ וְאִמְּךָ֣ וְאַחֶ֔יךָ לְהִשְׁתַּחֲוֺ֥ת לְךָ֖ אָֽרְצָה׃

BAN ¹¹ Et ses frères furent jaloux de lui ; mais son père retint la chose.

KJV ¹¹ And his brethren envied him; but his father observed the saying.

WLC ¹¹ וַיְקַנְאוּ־ ב֖וֹ אֶחָ֑יו וְאָבִ֖יו שָׁמַ֥ר אֶת־ הַדָּבָֽר׃

BAN ¹² Et ses frères allèrent paître les troupeaux de leur père à Sichem.

KJV ¹² And his brethren went to feed their father's flock in Shechem.

WLC ¹² וַיֵּלְכ֖וּ אֶחָ֑יו לִרְע֛וֹת אֶׄתׄ־ צֹ֥אן אֲבִיהֶ֖ם בִּשְׁכֶֽם׃

BAN ¹³ Et Israël dit à Joseph : Tes frères ne paissent-ils pas [les troupeaux] à Sichem ? Viens, que je t'envoie vers eux.

KJV ¹³ And Israel said unto Joseph, Do not thy brethren feed the flock in Shechem? come, and I will send thee unto them. And he said to him, Here am I.

WLC ¹³ וַיֹּ֨אמֶר יִשְׂרָאֵ֜ל אֶל־ יוֹסֵ֗ף הֲל֤וֹא אַחֶ֙יךָ֙ רֹעִ֣ים בִּשְׁכֶ֔ם לְכָ֖ה וְאֶשְׁלָחֲךָ֣ אֲלֵיהֶ֑ם וַיֹּ֥אמֶר ל֖וֹ הִנֵּֽנִי׃

BAN ¹⁴ Et il répondit : Me voici. Et il lui dit : Va donc voir si tes frères vont bien et si les troupeaux vont bien, et apporte-m'en des nouvelles. Ainsi il l'envoya de la vallée d'Hébron, et Joseph arriva à Sichem.

KJV ¹⁴ And he said to him, Go, I pray thee, see whether it be well with thy brethren, and well with the flocks; and bring me word again. So he sent him out of the vale of Hebron, and he came to Shechem.

WLC ¹⁴ וַיֹּ֣אמֶר ל֗וֹ לֶךְ־ נָ֨א רְאֵ֜ה אֶת־ שְׁל֤וֹם אַחֶ֙יךָ֙ וְאֶת־ שְׁל֣וֹם הַצֹּ֔אן וַהֲשִׁבֵ֖נִי דָּבָ֑ר וַיִּשְׁלָחֵ֙הוּ֙ מֵעֵ֣מֶק חֶבְר֔וֹן וַיָּבֹ֖א שְׁכֶֽמָה׃

BAN ¹⁵ Et un homme le trouva comme il errait dans la campagne. Et cet homme l'interrogea, disant : Que cherches-tu ?

KJV ¹⁵ And a certain man found him, and, behold, he was wandering in the field: and the man asked him, saying, What seekest thou?

WLC ¹⁵ וַיִּמְצָאֵ֣הוּ אִ֔ישׁ וְהִנֵּ֥ה תֹעֶ֖ה בַּשָּׂדֶ֑ה וַיִּשְׁאָלֵ֧הוּ הָאִ֛ישׁ לֵאמֹ֖ר מַה־ תְּבַקֵּֽשׁ׃

BAN ¹⁶ Et il dit : Je cherche mes frères ; indique-moi, je te prie, où ils font paître.

KJV ¹⁶ And he said, I seek my brethren: tell me, I pray thee, where they feed their flocks.

WLC ¹⁶ וַיֹּ֕אמֶר אֶת־ אַחַ֖י אָנֹכִ֣י מְבַקֵּ֑שׁ הַגִּֽידָה־ נָּ֣א לִ֔י אֵיפֹ֖ה הֵ֥ם רֹעִֽים׃

BAN ¹⁷ Et l'homme dit : Ils sont partis d'ici, car je les ai entendus dire : Allons à Dothan. Et Joseph alla à la recherche de ses frères, et il les trouva à Dothan.

KJV ¹⁷ And the man said, They are departed hence; for I heard them say, Let us go to Dothan. And Joseph went after his brethren, and found them in Dothan.

WLC ¹⁷ וַיֹּ֤אמֶר הָאִישׁ֙ נָסְע֣וּ מִזֶּ֔ה כִּ֤י שָׁמַ֙עְתִּי֙ אֹֽמְרִ֔ים נֵלְכָ֖ה דֹּתָ֑יְנָה וַיֵּ֤לֶךְ יוֹסֵף֙ אַחַ֣ר אֶחָ֔יו וַיִּמְצָאֵ֖ם בְּדֹתָֽן׃

BAN ¹⁸ Ils le virent de loin ; et avant qu'il fût près d'eux, ils complotèrent contre lui pour le faire mourir.

KJV ¹⁸ And when they saw him afar off, even before he came near unto them, they conspired against him to slay him.

WLC ¹⁸ וַיִּרְא֥וּ אֹת֖וֹ מֵרָחֹ֑ק וּבְטֶ֙רֶם֙ יִקְרַ֣ב אֲלֵיהֶ֔ם וַיִּֽתְנַכְּל֥וּ אֹת֖וֹ לַהֲמִיתֽוֹ׃

BAN ¹⁹ Et ils se dirent l'un à l'autre : Voici l'homme aux songes ; c'est bien lui qui vient.

KJV ¹⁹ And they said one to another, Behold, this dreamer cometh.

WLC ¹⁹ וַיֹּאמְר֖וּ אִ֣ישׁ אֶל־ אָחִ֑יו הִנֵּ֗ה בַּ֛עַל הַחֲלֹמ֥וֹת הַלָּזֶ֖ה בָּֽא׃
