BAN ¹ Et il partit de là ; et il vient dans sa patrie, et ses disciples le suivent.

KJV ¹ And he went out from thence, and came into his own country; and his disciples follow him.

BAN ² Et quand le sabbat fut venu, il se mit à enseigner dans la synagogue. Et la plupart, en l'entendant, étaient dans l'étonnement et disaient : D'où viennent ces choses à celui-ci ? et quelle est cette sagesse qui a été donnée à celui-ci, que de tels miracles se fassent par ses mains ?

KJV ² And when the sabbath day was come, he began to teach in the synagogue: and many hearing him were astonished, saying, From whence hath this man these things? and what wisdom is this which is given unto him, that even such mighty works are wrought by his hands?

BAN ³ Celui-ci n'est-il pas le charpentier, le fils de Marie, le frère de Jacques, et de Josès, et de Jude, et de Simon ? et ses soeurs ne sont-elles pas ici parmi nous ? Et il était pour eux une occasion de chute.

KJV ³ Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, the brother of James, and Joses, and of Juda, and Simon? and are not his sisters here with us? And they were offended at him.

BAN ⁴ Mais Jésus leur disait : Un prophète n'est méprisé que dans sa patrie, et parmi ses parents et dans sa maison.

KJV ⁴ But Jesus, said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, but in his own country, and among his own kin, and in his own house.

BAN ⁵ Et il ne put faire là aucun miracle, si ce n'est qu'ayant imposé les mains à un petit nombre de malades, il les guérit.

KJV ⁵ And he could there do no mighty work, save that he laid his hands upon a few sick folk, and healed them.

BAN ⁶ Et il s'étonna de leur incrédulité. Et il parcourait les bourgades d'alentour, en enseignant.

KJV ⁶ And he marvelled because of their unbelief. And he went round about the villages, teaching.

BAN ⁷ Et il appelle à lui les douze. Et il se mit à les envoyer deux à deux, et il leur donnait pouvoir sur les esprits impurs.

KJV ⁷ And he called unto him the twelve, and began to send them forth by two and two; and gave them power over unclean spirits;

BAN ⁸ Et il leur ordonna de ne rien prendre pour le chemin, si ce n'est un bâton seulement ; ni pain, ni sac, ni monnaie dans leur ceinture ;

KJV ⁸ And commanded them that they should take nothing for their journey, save a staff only; no scrip, no bread, no money in their purse:

BAN ⁹ mais d'être chaussés de sandales, et de ne pas porter deux tuniques.

KJV ⁹ But be shod with sandals; and not put on two coats.

BAN ¹⁰ Et il leur disait : Partout où vous serez entrés dans une maison, demeurez-y jusqu'à ce que vous partiez de là.

KJV ¹⁰ And he said unto them, In what place soever ye enter into an house, there abide till ye depart from that place.

BAN ¹¹ Et en tout lieu où l'on ne vous recevra pas et où l'on ne vous écoutera pas, sortant de là, secouez la poussière qui est sous vos pieds, pour leur être en témoignage.

KJV ¹¹ And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear you, when ye depart thence, shake off the dust under your feet for a testimony against them. Verily I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgment, than for that city.

BAN ¹² Et étant partis, ils prêchèrent qu'on se repentit.

KJV ¹² And they went out, and preached that men should repent.

BAN ¹³ Et ils chassaient beaucoup de démons et oignaient d'huile beaucoup de malades, et ils les guérissaient.

KJV ¹³ And they cast out many devils, and anointed with oil many that were sick, and healed them.

BAN ¹⁴ Et le roi Hérode en entendit parler, car le nom de Jésus était devenu célèbre. Et il disait : Jean, celui qui baptisait, est ressuscité d'entre les morts ; et c'est pour cela que les puissances miraculeuses agissent en lui.

KJV ¹⁴ And king Herod heard of him; (for his name was spread abroad:) and he said, That John the Baptist was risen from the dead, and therefore mighty works do shew forth themselves in him.

BAN ¹⁵ Mais d'autres disaient : C'est Elie ; et d'autres disaient : C'est un prophète comme l'un des prophètes.

KJV ¹⁵ Others said, That it is Elias. And others said, That it is a prophet, or as one of the prophets.

BAN ¹⁶ Mais Hérode, l'ayant ouï, disait : Ce Jean que moi j'ai fait décapiter, c'est lui qui est ressuscité !

KJV ¹⁶ But when Herod heard thereof, he said, It is John, whom I beheaded: he is risen from the dead.

BAN ¹⁷ Car Hérode lui-même avait envoyé prendre Jean, et l'avait fait lier en prison, à cause d'Hérodias, la femme de Philippe, son frère, parce qu'il l'avait épousée.

KJV ¹⁷ For Herod himself had sent forth and laid hold upon John, and bound him in prison for Herodias' sake, his brother Philip's wife: for he had married her.

BAN ¹⁸ Car Jean disait à Hérode : Il ne t'est pas permis d'avoir la femme de ton frère.

KJV ¹⁸ For John had said unto Herod, It is not lawful for thee to have thy brother's wife.

BAN ¹⁹ Or, Hérodias s'acharnait après lui et elle voulait le faire mourir, mais elle ne le pouvait ;

KJV ¹⁹ Therefore Herodias had a quarrel against him, and would have killed him; but she could not:

BAN ²⁰ car Hérode craignait Jean, le connaissant pour un homme juste et saint ; et il le gardait, et, après l'avoir entendu, il était perplexe sur plusieurs points, et il l'écoutait volontiers.

KJV ²⁰ For Herod feared John, knowing that he was a just man and an holy, and observed him; and when he heard him, he did many things, and heard him gladly.

BAN ²¹ Cependant un jour favorable étant arrivé, lorsque Hérode, pour l'anniversaire de sa naissance, donna un festin à ses grands et aux chefs militaires et aux principaux de la Galilée,

KJV ²¹ And when a convenient day was come, that Herod on his birthday made a supper to his lords, high captains, and chief estates of Galilee;

BAN ²² et la fille d'Hérodias elle-même étant entrée et ayant dansé, plut à Hérode et à ses convives. Et le roi dit à la jeune fille : Demande-moi tout ce que tu voudras et je te le donnerai :

KJV ²² And when the daughter of the said Herodias came in, and danced, and pleased Herod and them that sat with him, the king said unto the damsel, Ask of me whatsoever thou wilt, and I will give it thee.

BAN ²³ Et il lui dit avec serment : Ce que tu demanderas, je te le donnerai, jusqu'à la moitié de mon royaume.

KJV ²³ And he sware unto her, Whatsoever thou shalt ask of me, I will give it thee, unto the half of my kingdom.

BAN ²⁴ Et, étant sortie, elle dit à sa mère : Que demanderai-je ? Elle répondit : La tête de Jean-Baptiste.

KJV ²⁴ And she went forth, and said unto her mother, What shall I ask? And she said, The head of John the Baptist.

BAN ²⁵ Et étant aussitôt rentrée avec empressement vers le roi, elle fit sa demande, disant : Je veux que tu me donnes, à l'instant, sur un plat, la tête de Jean-Baptiste.

KJV ²⁵ And she came in straightway with haste unto the king, and asked, saying, I will that thou give me by and by in a charger the head of John the Baptist.

BAN ²⁶ Et le roi devint fort triste ; mais à cause de ses serments, et de ses convives, il ne voulut pas la repousser.

KJV ²⁶ And the king was exceeding sorry; yet for his oath's sake, and for their sakes which sat with him, he would not reject her.

BAN ²⁷ Et aussitôt ayant envoyé un garde, le roi commanda d'apporter la tête de Jean.

KJV ²⁷ And immediately the king sent an executioner, and commanded his head to be brought: and he went and beheaded him in the prison,

BAN ²⁸ Le garde, s'en étant allé, le décapita dans la prison ; et il apporta sa tête sur un plat et la donna à la jeune fille, et la jeune fille la donna à sa mère.

KJV ²⁸ And brought his head in a charger, and gave it to the damsel: and the damsel gave it to her mother.

BAN ²⁹ Et les disciples de Jean, l'ayant appris, vinrent et emportèrent son cadavre, et le mirent dans un sépulcre.

KJV ²⁹ And when his disciples heard of it, they came and took up his corpse, and laid it in a tomb.

BAN ³⁰ Et les apôtres se rassemblent auprès de Jésus ; et ils lui racontèrent tout ce qu'ils avaient fait et tout ce qu'ils avaient enseigné.

KJV ³⁰ And the apostles gathered themselves together unto Jesus, and told him all things, both what they had done, and what they had taught.

BAN ³¹ Et il leur dit : Venez, vous seuls, à l'écart dans un lieu désert, et reposez-vous un peu. En effet, les allants et venants étaient nombreux, et ils n'avaient pas même le temps de manger.

KJV ³¹ And he said unto them, Come ye yourselves apart into a desert place, and rest a while: for there were many coming and going, and they had no leisure so much as to eat.

BAN ³² Et ils s'en allérent sur la barque dans un lieu désert à l'écart.

KJV ³² And they departed into a desert place by ship privately.

BAN ³³ Et beaucoup de gens les virent partir et connurent où ils allaient, et ils accoururent là à pied de toutes les villes, et ils les devancèrent.

KJV ³³ And the people saw them departing, and many knew him, and ran afoot thither out of all cities, and outwent them, and came together unto him.

BAN ³⁴ Et Jésus, étant sorti, vit une grande foule, et il fut touché de compassion envers eux, parce qu'ils étaient comme des brebis qui n'ont point de berger, et il se mit à leur enseigner beaucoup de choses.

KJV ³⁴ And Jesus, when he came out, saw much people, and was moved with compassion toward them, because they were as sheep not having a shepherd: and he began to teach them many things.

BAN ³⁵ Et comme l'heure était déjà avancée, ses disciples s'étant approchés lui disaient : Ce lieu est désert, et l'heure est déjà avancée ;

KJV ³⁵ And when the day was now far spent, his disciples came unto him, and said, This is a desert place, and now the time is far passed:

BAN ³⁶ renvoie-les, afin qu'ils aillent dans les campagnes et dans les bourgs des environs, et qu'ils s'achètent de quoi manger.

KJV ³⁶ Send them away, that they may go into the country round about, and into the villages, and buy themselves bread: for they have nothing to eat.

BAN ³⁷ Mais lui, répondant, leur dit : Donnez-leur vous-mêmes à manger. Et ils lui disent : Irons-nous acheter pour deux cents deniers de pain, et leur donnerons-nous à manger ?

KJV ³⁷ He answered and said unto them, Give ye them to eat. And they say unto him, Shall we go and buy two hundred pennyworth of bread, and give them to eat?

BAN ³⁸ Mais il leur dit : Combien avez-vous de pains ? Allez, voyez. Et après s'en être enquis, ils disent : Cinq, et deux poissons.

KJV ³⁸ He saith unto them, How many loaves have ye? go and see. And when they knew, they say, Five, and two fishes.

BAN ³⁹ Et il leur commanda de les faire tous asseoir par groupes sur l'herbe verte ;

KJV ³⁹ And he commanded them to make all sit down by companies upon the green grass.

BAN ⁴⁰ et ils s'assirent par rangées de cent et de cinquante.

KJV ⁴⁰ And they sat down in ranks, by hundreds, and by fifties.

BAN ⁴¹ Et prenant les cinq pains et les deux poissons, levant les yeux au ciel, il prononça la bénédiction, et rompit les pains, et il les donnait aux disciples, afin qu'ils les leur présentassent. Et il partagea les deux poissons entre tous.

KJV ⁴¹ And when he had taken the five loaves and the two fishes, he looked up to heaven, and blessed, and brake the loaves, and gave them to his disciples to set before them; and the two fishes divided he among them all.

BAN ⁴² Et tous mangèrent et furent rassasiés.

KJV ⁴² And they did all eat, and were filled.

BAN ⁴³ Et l'on emporta douze paniers pleins des morceaux, et de ce qui restait des poissons.

KJV ⁴³ And they took up twelve baskets full of the fragments, and of the fishes.

BAN ⁴⁴ Et ceux qui avaient mangé les pains étaient cinq mille hommes.

KJV ⁴⁴ And they that did eat of the loaves were about five thousand men.

BAN ⁴⁵ Et aussitôt, il obligea ses disciples à monter dans la barque et à passer avant lui sur l'autre rive, vers Bethsaïda, pendant que lui-même renvoie la foule.

KJV ⁴⁵ And straightway he constrained his disciples to get into the ship, and to go to the other side before unto Bethsaida, while he sent away the people.

BAN ⁴⁶ Et quand il les eut congédiés, il s'en alla sur la montagne pour prier.

KJV ⁴⁶ And when he had sent them away, he departed into a mountain to pray.

BAN ⁴⁷ Et comme le soir était venu, la barque était au milieu de la mer et lui était seul à terre.

KJV ⁴⁷ And when even was come, the ship was in the midst of the sea, and he alone on the land.

BAN ⁴⁸ Et voyant qu'ils se tourmentaient à ramer, car le vent leur était contraire, il vient à eux environ la quatrième veille de la nuit, marchant sur la mer. Et il voulait les devancer ;

KJV ⁴⁸ And he saw them toiling in rowing; for the wind was contrary unto them: and about the fourth watch of the night he cometh unto them, walking upon the sea, and would have passed by them.

BAN ⁴⁹ mais eux, le voyant marcher sur la mer, crurent que c'était un fantôme, et ils poussèrent des cris.

KJV ⁴⁹ But when they saw him walking upon the sea, they supposed it had been a spirit, and cried out:

BAN ⁵⁰ Car tous le virent, et ils furent troublés. Mais lui aussitôt leur parla, et leur dit : Rassurez-vous, c'est moi, n'ayez point peur.

KJV ⁵⁰ For they all saw him, and were troubled. And immediately he talked with them, and saith unto them, Be of good cheer: it is I; be not afraid.

BAN ⁵¹ Et il monta vers eux dans la barque, et le vent cessa, et ils furent stupéfaits en eux-mêmes au-delà de toute mesure.

KJV ⁵¹ And he went up unto them into the ship; and the wind ceased: and they were sore amazed in themselves beyond measure, and wondered.

BAN ⁵² Car ils n'avaient pas compris au sujet des pains, mais leur coeur était endurci.

KJV ⁵² For they considered not the miracle of the loaves: for their heart was hardened.

BAN ⁵³ Et traversant la mer en se dirigeant vers la terre, ils arrivèrent dans la contrée de Génézareth, et ils abordèrent.

KJV ⁵³ And when they had passed over, they came into the land of Gennesaret, and drew to the shore.

BAN ⁵⁴ Et quand ils furent sortis de la barque, les gens le reconnaissant aussitôt,

KJV ⁵⁴ And when they were come out of the ship, straightway they knew him,

BAN ⁵⁵ coururent dans toute la contrée d'alentour, et se mirent à amener de tous côtés sur leurs lits ceux qui étaient malades, partout où ils entendaient dire qu'il était.

KJV ⁵⁵ And ran through that whole region round about, and began to carry about in beds those that were sick, where they heard he was.

BAN ⁵⁶ Et en quelque lieu qu'il entrât, dans les bourgs, ou dans les villes, ou dans les campagnes, on mettait les malades dans les places publiques, et on le priait qu'ils pussent toucher ne fût-ce que le bord de son vêtement ; et tous ceux qui le touchaient étaient sauvés.

KJV ⁵⁶ And whithersoever he entered, into villages, or cities, or country, they laid the sick in the streets, and besought him that they might touch if it were but the border of his garment: and as many as touched him were made whole.
