DRB ² Le fer se tire de la poussière, et la pierre fondue donne le cuivre.

KJV ² Iron is taken out of the earth, and brass is molten out of the stone.

WLC ² בַּ֭רְזֶל מֵעָפָ֣ר יֻקָּ֑ח וְ֝אֶ֗בֶן יָצ֥וּק נְחוּשָֽׁה׃

DRB ³ [L'homme] met fin aux ténèbres et explore jusqu'à l'extrémité de tout, la pierre d'obscurité et de l'ombre de la mort.

KJV ³ He setteth an end to darkness, and searcheth out all perfection: the stones of darkness, and the shadow of death.

WLC ³ קֵ֤ץ ׀ שָׂ֤ם לַחֹ֗שֶׁךְ וּֽלְכָל־ תַּ֭כְלִית ה֣וּא חוֹקֵ֑ר אֶ֖בֶן אֹ֣פֶל וְצַלְמָֽוֶת׃

DRB ⁴ On creuse un puits loin de ceux qui séjournent [sur la terre] ; oubliés du pied [de l'homme], ils sont suspendus, balancés loin des humains.

KJV ⁴ The flood breaketh out from the inhabitant; even the waters forgotten of the foot: they are dried up, they are gone away from men.

WLC ⁴ פָּ֤רַץ נַ֨חַל ׀ מֵֽעִם־ גָּ֗ר הַֽנִּשְׁכָּחִ֥ים מִנִּי־ רָ֑גֶל דַּ֖לּוּ מֵאֱנ֣וֹשׁ נָֽעוּ׃

DRB ⁵ La terre,… d'elle sort le pain ; et au-dessous, elle est bouleversée comme par le feu.

KJV ⁵ As for the earth, out of it cometh bread: and under it is turned up as it were fire.

WLC ⁵ אֶ֗רֶץ מִמֶּ֥נָּה יֵֽצֵא־ לָ֑חֶם וְ֝תַחְתֶּ֗יהָ נֶהְפַּ֥ךְ כְּמוֹ־ אֵֽשׁ׃

DRB ⁶ Ses pierres sont le lieu du saphir, et la poussière d'or s'y trouve.

KJV ⁶ The stones of it are the place of sapphires: and it hath dust of gold.

WLC ⁶ מְקוֹם־ סַפִּ֥יר אֲבָנֶ֑יהָ וְעַפְרֹ֖ת זָהָ֣ב לֽוֹ׃

DRB ⁷ C'est un sentier que l'oiseau de proie ne connaît pas, et que l'œil du vautour n'a pas aperçu ;

KJV ⁷ There is a path which no fowl knoweth, and which the vulture's eye hath not seen:

WLC ⁷ נָ֭תִיב לֹֽא־ יְדָ֣עוֹ עָ֑יִט וְלֹ֥א שְׁ֝זָפַ֗תּוּ עֵ֣ין אַיָּֽה׃

DRB ⁸ La bête fauve* ne l'a pas foulé, le lion** ne l'a pas traversé.

KJV ⁸ The lion's whelps have not trodden it, nor the fierce lion passed by it.

WLC ⁸ לֹֽא־ הִדְרִיכֻ֥הוּ בְנֵי־ שָׁ֑חַץ לֹֽא־ עָדָ֖ה עָלָ֣יו שָֽׁחַל׃

DRB ⁹ [L'homme] porte sa main sur le roc dur, il renverse les montagnes depuis la racine ;

KJV ⁹ He putteth forth his hand upon the rock; he overturneth the mountains by the roots.

WLC ⁹ בַּֽ֭חַלָּמִישׁ שָׁלַ֣ח יָד֑וֹ הָפַ֖ךְ מִשֹּׁ֣רֶשׁ הָרִֽים׃

DRB ¹⁰ Il creuse des canaux dans les rochers ; et son œil voit tout ce qui est précieux ;

KJV ¹⁰ He cutteth out rivers among the rocks; and his eye seeth every precious thing.

WLC ¹⁰ בַּ֭צּוּרוֹת יְאֹרִ֣ים בִּקֵּ֑עַ וְכָל־ יְ֝קָ֗ר רָאֲתָ֥ה עֵינֽוֹ׃

DRB ¹¹ Il enserre les fleuves pour qu'ils ne suintent pas ; et il produit à la lumière les choses cachées.

KJV ¹¹ He bindeth the floods from overflowing; and the thing that is hid bringeth he forth to light.

WLC ¹¹ מִ֭בְּכִי נְהָר֣וֹת חִבֵּ֑שׁ וְ֝תַעֲלֻמָ֗הּ יֹ֣צִא אֽוֹר׃

DRB ¹² Mais la sagesse, où la trouvera-t-on ? et où est le lieu de l'intelligence ?

KJV ¹² But where shall wisdom be found? and where is the place of understanding?

WLC ¹² וְֽ֭הַחָכְמָה מֵאַ֣יִן תִּמָּצֵ֑א וְאֵ֥י זֶ֝ה מְק֣וֹם בִּינָֽה׃

DRB ¹³ Aucun mortel n'en connaît le prix, et elle ne se trouve pas sur la terre des vivants.

KJV ¹³ Man knoweth not the price thereof; neither is it found in the land of the living.

WLC ¹³ לֹא־ יָדַ֣ע אֱנ֣וֹשׁ עֶרְכָּ֑הּ וְלֹ֥א תִ֝מָּצֵ֗א בְּאֶ֣רֶץ הַֽחַיִּֽים׃

DRB ¹⁴ L'abîme dit : Elle n'est pas en moi ; et la mer dit : Elle n'est pas chez moi.

KJV ¹⁴ The depth saith, It is not in me: and the sea saith, It is not with me.

WLC ¹⁴ תְּה֣וֹם אָ֭מַר לֹ֣א בִי־ הִ֑יא וְיָ֥ם אָ֝מַ֗ר אֵ֣ין עִמָּדִֽי׃

DRB ¹⁵ Elle ne s'échange pas contre de l'or pur, et l'argent ne se pèse pas pour l'acheter.

KJV ¹⁵ It cannot be gotten for gold, neither shall silver be weighed for the price thereof.

WLC ¹⁵ לֹא־ יֻתַּ֣ן סְג֣וֹר תַּחְתֶּ֑יהָ וְלֹ֥א יִ֝שָּׁקֵ֗ל כֶּ֣סֶף מְחִירָֽהּ׃

DRB ¹⁶ On ne la met pas dans la balance avec l'or d'Ophir, avec l'onyx précieux et le saphir.

KJV ¹⁶ It cannot be valued with the gold of Ophir, with the precious onyx, or the sapphire.

WLC ¹⁶ לֹֽא־ תְ֭סֻלֶּה בְּכֶ֣תֶם אוֹפִ֑יר בְּשֹׁ֖הַם יָקָ֣ר וְסַפִּֽיר׃

DRB ¹⁷ On ne peut lui comparer ni l'or ni le verre*, ni l'échanger contre un vase d'or fin.

KJV ¹⁷ The gold and the crystal cannot equal it: and the exchange of it shall not be for jewels of fine gold.

WLC ¹⁷ לֹא־ יַעַרְכֶ֣נָּה זָ֭הָב וּזְכוֹכִ֑ית וּתְמ֖וּרָתָ֣הּ כְּלִי־ פָֽז׃

DRB ¹⁸ [À côté d'elle] le corail et le cristal ne viennent pas dans la mémoire ; et la possession de la sagesse vaut mieux que les perles*.

KJV ¹⁸ No mention shall be made of coral, or of pearls: for the price of wisdom is above rubies.

WLC ¹⁸ רָאמ֣וֹת וְ֭גָבִישׁ לֹ֣א יִזָּכֵ֑ר וּמֶ֥שֶׁךְ חָ֝כְמָ֗ה מִפְּנִינִֽים׃

DRB ¹⁹ La topaze d'Éthiopie ne lui est pas comparée, on ne la met pas dans la balance avec l'or pur.

KJV ¹⁹ The topaz of Ethiopia shall not equal it, neither shall it be valued with pure gold.

WLC ¹⁹ לֹֽא־ יַ֭עַרְכֶנָּה פִּטְדַת־ כּ֑וּשׁ בְּכֶ֥תֶם טָ֝ה֗וֹר לֹ֣א תְסֻלֶּֽה׃

DRB ²⁰ Mais la sagesse, d'où vient-elle ? et où est le lieu de l'intelligence ?

KJV ²⁰ Whence then cometh wisdom? and where is the place of understanding?

WLC ²⁰ וְֽ֭הַחָכְמָה מֵאַ֣יִן תָּב֑וֹא וְאֵ֥י זֶ֝֗ה מְק֣וֹם בִּינָֽה׃

DRB ²¹ Elle est voilée aux yeux de tous les vivants, et elle est cachée aux oiseaux des cieux.

KJV ²¹ Seeing it is hid from the eyes of all living, and kept close from the fowls of the air.

WLC ²¹ וְֽ֭נֶעֶלְמָה מֵעֵינֵ֣י כָל־ חָ֑י וּמֵע֖וֹף הַשָּׁמַ֣יִם נִסְתָּֽרָה׃

DRB ²² La destruction et la mort disent : De nos oreilles nous en avons entendu la rumeur.

KJV ²² Destruction and death say, We have heard the fame thereof with our ears.

WLC ²² אֲבַדּ֣וֹן וָ֭מָוֶת אָ֣מְר֑וּ בְּ֝אָזְנֵ֗ינוּ שָׁמַ֥עְנוּ שִׁמְעָֽהּ׃

DRB ²³ Dieu comprend son chemin, et lui, il connaît son lieu.

KJV ²³ God understandeth the way thereof, and he knoweth the place thereof.

WLC ²³ אֱ֭לֹהִים הֵבִ֣ין דַּרְכָּ֑הּ וְ֝ה֗וּא יָדַ֥ע אֶת־ מְקוֹמָֽהּ׃

DRB ²⁴ Car lui, voit jusqu'aux bouts de la terre : sa vue s'étend sous tous les cieux.

KJV ²⁴ For he looketh to the ends of the earth, and seeth under the whole heaven;

WLC ²⁴ כִּי־ ה֭וּא לִקְצוֹת־ הָאָ֣רֶץ יַבִּ֑יט תַּ֖חַת כָּל־ הַשָּׁמַ֣יִם יִרְאֶֽה׃

DRB ²⁵ Quand il fixait au vent sa pesanteur, et qu'il établissait les eaux selon leur mesure ;

KJV ²⁵ To make the weight for the winds; and he weigheth the waters by measure.

WLC ²⁵ לַעֲשׂ֣וֹת לָר֣וּחַ מִשְׁקָ֑ל וּ֝מַ֗יִם תִּכֵּ֥ן בְּמִדָּֽה׃

DRB ²⁶ Quand il faisait une loi pour la pluie, et un chemin pour le sillon de la foudre :

KJV ²⁶ When he made a decree for the rain, and a way for the lightning of the thunder:

WLC ²⁶ בַּעֲשֹׂת֣וֹ לַמָּטָ֣ר חֹ֑ק וְ֝דֶ֗רֶךְ לַחֲזִ֥יז קֹלֽוֹת׃

DRB ²⁷ Alors il la vit et la manifesta ; il l'établit, et il la sonda aussi ;

KJV ²⁷ Then did he see it, and declare it; he prepared it, yea, and searched it out.

WLC ²⁷ אָ֣ז רָ֭אָהּ וַֽיְסַפְּרָ֑הּ הֱ֝כִינָ֗הּ וְגַם־ חֲקָרָֽהּ׃

DRB ²⁸ Et il dit à l'homme : Voici, la crainte du Seigneur, c'est là la sagesse, et se retirer du mal est l'intelligence.

KJV ²⁸ And unto man he said, Behold, the fear of the LORD, that is wisdom; and to depart from evil is understanding.
