KJV ¹ Hear, ye children, the instruction of a father, and attend to know understanding.

MAR ³ Quand j'ai été fils à mon père, tendre et unique auprès de ma mère.

KJV ⁴ He taught me also, and said unto me, Let thine heart retain my words: keep my commandments, and live.

MAR ⁴ Il m'a enseigné, et m'a dit : Que ton coeur retienne mes paroles ; garde mes commandements, et tu vivras.

KJV ⁵ Get wisdom, get understanding: forget it not; neither decline from the words of my mouth.

MAR ⁵ Acquiers la sagesse, acquiers la prudence ; n'en oublie rien, et ne te détourne point des paroles de ma bouche.

KJV ⁶ Forsake her not, and she shall preserve thee: love her, and she shall keep thee.

MAR ⁶ Ne l'abandonne point, et elle te gardera ; aime-la, et elle te conservera.

KJV ⁷ Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.

MAR ⁷ La principale chose, c'est la sagesse ; acquiers la sagesse, et sur toutes tes acquisitions, acquiers la prudence.

KJV ⁸ Exalt her, and she shall promote thee: she shall bring thee to honour, when thou dost embrace her.

MAR ⁸ Estime-la, et elle t'exaltera ; elle te glorifiera, quand tu l'auras embrassée.

KJV ⁹ She shall give to thine head an ornament of grace: a crown of glory shall she deliver to thee.

MAR ⁹ Elle posera des grâces enfilées ensemble sur ta tête, et elle te donnera une couronne d'ornement.

KJV ¹⁰ Hear, O my son, and receive my sayings; and the years of thy life shall be many.

MAR ¹⁰ Ecoute, mon fils, et reçois mes paroles, et les années de ta vie te seront multipliées.

KJV ¹¹ I have taught thee in the way of wisdom; I have led thee in right paths.

MAR ¹¹ Je t'ai enseigné le chemin de la sagesse, et je t'ai fait marcher par les sentiers de la droiture.

KJV ¹² When thou goest, thy steps shall not be straitened; and when thou runnest, thou shalt not stumble.

MAR ¹² Quand tu [y] marcheras, ta démarche ne sera point serrée ; et si tu cours, tu ne broncheras point.

KJV ¹³ Take fast hold of instruction; let her not go: keep her; for she is thy life.

MAR ¹³ Embrasse l'instruction, ne [la] lâche point, garde-la ; car c'est ta vie.

KJV ¹⁴ Enter not into the path of the wicked, and go not in the way of evil men.

MAR ¹⁴ N'entre point au sentier des méchants, et ne pose point ton pied au chemin des hommes pervers.

KJV ¹⁵ Avoid it, pass not by it, turn from it, and pass away.

MAR ¹⁵ Détourne-t'en, ne passe point par là, éloigne-t'en, et passe outre.

KJV ¹⁶ For they sleep not, except they have done mischief; and their sleep is taken away, unless they cause some to fall.

MAR ¹⁶ Car ils ne dormiraient pas, s'ils n'avaient fait quelque mal ; et le sommeil leur serait ôté, s'ils n'avaient fait tomber quelqu'un.

KJV ¹⁷ For they eat the bread of wickedness, and drink the wine of violence.

MAR ¹⁷ Parce qu'ils mangent le pain de méchanceté, et qu'ils boivent le vin de la violence.

KJV ¹⁸ But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day.

MAR ¹⁸ Mais le sentier des justes est comme la lumière resplendissante, qui augmente son éclat jusqu'à ce que le jour soit en sa perfection.

KJV ¹⁹ The way of the wicked is as darkness: they know not at what they stumble.

MAR ¹⁹ La voie des méchants est comme l'obscurité ; ils ne savent point où ils tomberont.

KJV ²⁰ My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings.

MAR ²⁰ Mon fils, sois attentif à mes paroles, incline ton oreille à mes discours.

KJV ²¹ Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart.

MAR ²¹ Qu'ils ne s'écartent point de tes yeux ; garde-les dans ton coeur.

KJV ²² For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh.

MAR ²² Car ils sont la vie de ceux qui les trouvent, et la santé de tout le corps de chacun d'eux.

KJV ²³ Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.

MAR ²³ Garde ton coeur de tout ce dont il faut se garder ; car de lui procèdent les sources de la vie.

KJV ²⁴ Put away from thee a froward mouth, and perverse lips put far from thee.

MAR ²⁴ Eloigne de toi la perversité de la bouche, et la dépravation des lèvres.

KJV ²⁵ Let thine eyes look right on, and let thine eyelids look straight before thee.

MAR ²⁵ Que tes yeux regardent droit, et que tes paupières dirigent [ton chemin] devant toi.

KJV ²⁶ Ponder the path of thy feet, and let all thy ways be established.

MAR ²⁶ Balance le chemin de tes pieds, et que toutes tes voies soient bien dressées.

KJV ²⁷ Turn not to the right hand nor to the left: remove thy foot from evil.

MAR ²⁷ Ne décline ni à droite ni à gauche ; détourne ton pied du mal.

KJV ¹ My son, attend unto my wisdom, and bow thine ear to my understanding:

MAR ¹ Mon fils, sois attentif à ma sagesse, incline ton oreille à mon intelligence ;

KJV ² That thou mayest regard discretion, and that thy lips may keep knowledge.

MAR ² Afin que tu gardes mes avis, et que tes lèvres conservent la science.

KJV ³ For the lips of a strange woman drop as an honeycomb, and her mouth is smoother than oil:

MAR ³ Car les lèvres de l'étrangère distillent des rayons de miel, et son palais est plus doux que l'huile.

KJV ⁴ But her end is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a two-edged sword.

MAR ⁴ Mais ce qui en provient est amer comme de l'absinthe, et aigu comme une épée à deux tranchants.

KJV ⁵ Her feet go down to death; her steps take hold on hell.

MAR ⁵ Ses pieds descendent à la mort, ses démarches aboutissent au sépulcre.

KJV ⁶ Lest thou shouldest ponder the path of life, her ways are moveable, that thou canst not know them.

MAR ⁶ Afin que tu ne balances point le chemin de la vie ; ses chemins en sont écartés, tu ne le connaîtras point.

KJV ⁷ Hear me now therefore, O ye children, and depart not from the words of my mouth.

MAR ⁷ Maintenant donc, enfants, écoutez-moi, et ne vous détournez point des paroles de ma bouche.

KJV ⁸ Remove thy way far from her, and come not nigh the door of her house:

MAR ⁸ Eloigne ton chemin de la femme étrangère, et n'approche point de l'entrée de sa maison.

KJV ⁹ Lest thou give thine honour unto others, and thy years unto the cruel:

MAR ⁹ De peur que tu ne donnes ton honneur à d'autres, et tes ans au cruel.

KJV ¹⁰ Lest strangers be filled with thy wealth; and thy labours be in the house of a stranger;

MAR ¹⁰ De peur que les étrangers ne se rassasient de tes facultés, et que le fruit de ton travail ne soit en la maison du forain ;

KJV ¹¹ And thou mourn at the last, when thy flesh and thy body are consumed,

MAR ¹¹ Et que tu ne rugisses quand tu seras près de ta fin, quand ta chair et ton corps seront consumés ;

KJV ¹² And say, How have I hated instruction, and my heart despised reproof;

MAR ¹² Et que tu ne dises : Comment ai-je haï l'instruction, et comment mon coeur a-t-il dédaigné les répréhensions ?

KJV ¹³ And have not obeyed the voice of my teachers, nor inclined mine ear to them that instructed me!

MAR ¹³ Et comment n'ai-je point obéi à la voix de ceux qui m'instruisaient, et n'ai-je point incliné mon oreille à ceux qui m'enseignaient ?

KJV ¹⁴ I was almost in all evil in the midst of the congregation and assembly.

MAR ¹⁴ Peu s'en est fallu que je n'aie été dans toute sorte de mal, au milieu de la congrégation et de l'assemblée.

KJV ¹⁵ Drink waters out of thine own cistern, and running waters out of thine own well.

MAR ¹⁵ Bois des eaux de ta citerne, et des ruisseaux du milieu de ton puits ;

KJV ¹⁶ Let thy fountains be dispersed abroad, and rivers of waters in the streets.

MAR ¹⁶ Que tes fontaines se répandent dehors, et les ruisseaux d'eau par les rues ;

KJV ¹⁷ Let them be only thine own, and not strangers' with thee.

MAR ¹⁷ Qu'elles soient à toi seul, et non aux étrangers avec toi.

KJV ¹⁸ Let thy fountain be blessed: and rejoice with the wife of thy youth.

MAR ¹⁸ Que ta source soit bénie, et réjouis-toi de la femme de ta jeunesse,

KJV ¹⁹ Let her be as the loving hind and pleasant roe; let her breasts satisfy thee at all times; and be thou ravished always with her love.

MAR ¹⁹ [Comme] d'une biche aimable, et d'une chevrette gracieuse ; que ses mamelles te rassasient en tout temps, et sois continuellement épris de son amour ;

KJV ²⁰ And why wilt thou, my son, be ravished with a strange woman, and embrace the bosom of a stranger?

MAR ²⁰ Et pourquoi, mon fils, irais-tu errant après l'étrangère, et embrasserais-tu le sein de la foraine ?

KJV ²¹ For the ways of man are before the eyes of the LORD, and he pondereth all his goings.

MAR ²¹ Vu que les voies de l'homme sont devant les yeux de l'Eternel, et qu'il pèse toutes ses voies.

KJV ²² His own iniquities shall take the wicked himself, and he shall be holden with the cords of his sins.

MAR ²² Les iniquités du méchant l'attraperont, et il sera retenu par les cordes de son péché.

KJV ²³ He shall die without instruction; and in the greatness of his folly he shall go astray.

MAR ²³ Il mourra faute d'instruction, et il ira errant par la grandeur de sa folie.

KJV ¹ My son, if thou be surety for thy friend, if thou hast stricken thy hand with a stranger,

MAR ¹ Mon fils, si tu as cautionné [pour quelqu'un] envers ton ami, ou si tu as frappé dans la main à l'étranger,

KJV ² Thou art snared with the words of thy mouth, thou art taken with the words of thy mouth.

MAR ² Tu es enlacé par les paroles de ta bouche, tu es pris par les paroles de ta bouche.

KJV ³ Do this now, my son, and deliver thyself, when thou art come into the hand of thy friend; go, humble thyself, and make sure thy friend.

MAR ³ Mon fils, fais maintenant ceci, et te dégage, puisque tu es tombé entre les mains de ton intime ami, va, prosterne-toi, et encourage tes amis.

KJV ⁴ Give not sleep to thine eyes, nor slumber to thine eyelids.

MAR ⁴ Ne donne point de sommeil à tes yeux, et ne laisse point sommeiller tes paupières.

KJV ⁵ Deliver thyself as a roe from the hand of the hunter, and as a bird from the hand of the fowler.

MAR ⁵ Dégage-toi comme le daim de la main [du chasseur], et comme l'oiseau de la main de l'oiseleur.

KJV ⁶ Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise:

MAR ⁶ Va, paresseux, vers la fourmi, regarde ses voies, et sois sage.

KJV ⁷ Which having no guide, overseer, or ruler,

MAR ⁷ Elle n'a ni chef, ni directeur, ni gouverneur,

KJV ⁸ Provideth her meat in the summer, and gathereth her food in the harvest.

MAR ⁸ [Et cependant] elle prépare en été son pain, et amasse durant la moisson de quoi manger.

KJV ⁹ How long wilt thou sleep, O sluggard? when wilt thou arise out of thy sleep?

MAR ⁹ Paresseux, jusqu'à quand te tiendras-tu couché ? Quand te lèveras-tu de ton lit ?

KJV ¹⁰ Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep:

MAR ¹⁰ Un peu de sommeil, [dis-tu], un peu de sommeil, un peu de ploiement de bras, afin de demeurer couché ;

KJV ¹¹ So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth, and thy want as an armed man.

MAR ¹¹ Et ta pauvreté viendra comme un passant ; et ta disette, comme un soldat.

KJV ¹² A naughty person, a wicked man, walketh with a froward mouth.

MAR ¹² L'homme qui imite le démon, est un homme violent et ses discours sont faux.

KJV ¹³ He winketh with his eyes, he speaketh with his feet, he teacheth with his fingers;

MAR ¹³ Il fait signe de ses yeux, il parle de ses pieds, il enseigne de ses doigts.

KJV ¹⁴ Frowardness is in his heart, he deviseth mischief continually; he soweth discord.

MAR ¹⁴ Il y a des renversements dans son coeur, il machine du mal en tout temps, il fait naître des querelles.

KJV ¹⁵ Therefore shall his calamity come suddenly; suddenly shall he be broken without remedy.

MAR ¹⁵ C'est pourquoi sa calamité viendra subitement, il sera subitement brisé, il n'y aura point de guérison.

KJV ¹⁶ These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him:

MAR ¹⁶ Dieu hait ces six choses, et même sept lui sont en abomination ;

KJV ¹⁷ A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,

MAR ¹⁷ Savoir, les yeux hautains, la fausse langue, les mains qui répandent le sang innocent ;

KJV ¹⁸ An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief,

MAR ¹⁸ Le coeur qui machine de mauvais desseins ; les pieds qui se hâtent pour courir au mal ;

KJV ¹⁹ A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.

MAR ¹⁹ Le faux témoin qui profère des mensonges ; et celui qui sème des querelles entre les frères.

KJV ²⁰ My son, keep thy father's commandment, and forsake not the law of thy mother:

MAR ²⁰ Mon fils, garde le commandement de ton père, et n'abandonne point l'enseignement de ta mère ;

KJV ²¹ Bind them continually upon thine heart, and tie them about thy neck.

MAR ²¹ Tiens-les continuellement liés à ton coeur, et les attache à ton cou.

KJV ²² When thou goest, it shall lead thee; when thou sleepest, it shall keep thee; and when thou awakest, it shall talk with thee.

MAR ²² Quand tu marcheras, il te conduira ; et quand tu te coucheras, il te gardera ; et quand tu te réveilleras, il s'entretiendra avec toi.

KJV ²³ For the commandment is a lamp; and the law is light; and reproofs of instruction are the way of life:

MAR ²³ Car le commandement est une lampe ; et l'enseignement une lumière ; et les répréhensions propres à instruire [sont] le chemin de la vie.

KJV ²⁴ To keep thee from the evil woman, from the flattery of the tongue of a strange woman.

MAR ²⁴ Pour te garder de la mauvaise femme, et des flatteries de la langue étrangère,

KJV ²⁵ Lust not after her beauty in thine heart; neither let her take thee with her eyelids.

MAR ²⁵ Ne convoite point en ton coeur sa beauté, et ne te laisse point prendre à ses yeux.

KJV ²⁶ For by means of a whorish woman a man is brought to a piece of bread: and the adultress will hunt for the precious life.

MAR ²⁶ Car pour l'amour de la femme débauchée on en vient jusqu'à un morceau de pain, et la femme [convoiteuse] d'homme chasse après l'âme précieuse [de l'homme.]

KJV ²⁷ Can a man take fire in his bosom, and his clothes not be burned?

MAR ²⁷ Quelqu'un peut-il prendre du feu dans son sein, sans que ses habits brûlent ?

KJV ²⁸ Can one go upon hot coals, and his feet not be burned?

MAR ²⁸ Quelqu'un marchera-t-il sur la braise, sans que ses pieds en soient brûlés ?

KJV ²⁹ So he that goeth in to his neighbour's wife; whosoever toucheth her shall not be innocent.

MAR ²⁹ Ainsi [en prend-il] à celui qui entre vers la femme de son prochain ; quiconque la touchera, ne sera point innocent.

KJV ³⁰ Men do not despise a thief, if he steal to satisfy his soul when he is hungry;

MAR ³⁰ On ne méprise point un larron, s'il dérobe pour remplir son âme, quand il a faim ;

KJV ³¹ But if he be found, he shall restore sevenfold; he shall give all the substance of his house.

MAR ³¹ Et s'il est trouvé, il le récompensera sept fois au double, il donnera tout ce qu'il a dans sa maison.

KJV ³² But whoso committeth adultery with a woman lacketh understanding: he that doeth it destroyeth his own soul.

MAR ³² [Mais] celui qui commet adultère avec une femme, est dépourvu de sens ; et celui qui le fera, sera le destructeur de son âme.

KJV ³³ A wound and dishonour shall he get; and his reproach shall not be wiped away.

MAR ³³ Il trouvera des plaies et de l'ignominie, et son opprobre ne sera point effacé.

KJV ³⁴ For jealousy is the rage of a man: therefore he will not spare in the day of vengeance.

MAR ³⁴ Car la jalousie est une fureur de mari, qui n'épargnera point [l'adultère] au jour de la vengeance.

KJV ³⁵ He will not regard any ransom; neither will he rest content, though thou givest many gifts.

MAR ³⁵ Il n'aura égard à aucune rançon, et il n'acceptera rien, quand tu multiplierais les présents.
