Ne rejetez pas mon enseignement!

KJV ³ For I was my father's son, tender and only beloved in the sight of my mother.

S21 ³ J'étais un fils pour mon père,
un fils tendre et unique aux yeux de ma mère.

KJV ⁴ He taught me also, and said unto me, Let thine heart retain my words: keep my commandments, and live.

S21 ⁴ Il m'enseignait alors et me disait:
«Que ton cœur retienne mes paroles!
Obéis à mes commandements et tu vivras.

KJV ⁵ Get wisdom, get understanding: forget it not; neither decline from the words of my mouth.

S21 ⁵ Acquiers la sagesse, acquiers l'intelligence!
N'oublie pas les paroles de ma bouche et ne t'en détourne pas!

KJV ⁶ Forsake her not, and she shall preserve thee: love her, and she shall keep thee.

S21 ⁶ Ne l'abandonne pas et elle te gardera.
Aime-la et elle te protégera.»

KJV ⁷ Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.

S21 ⁷ Voici le commencement de la sagesse: acquiers la sagesse
et avec tout ce que tu possèdes acquiers l'intelligence.

KJV ⁸ Exalt her, and she shall promote thee: she shall bring thee to honour, when thou dost embrace her.

S21 ⁸ Tiens-la en haute estime et elle t'élèvera.
Elle fera ta gloire, quand tu l'embrasseras.

KJV ⁹ She shall give to thine head an ornament of grace: a crown of glory shall she deliver to thee.

S21 ⁹ Elle mettra sur ta tête une couronne de grâce,
elle t'ornera d'un magnifique diadème.

KJV ¹⁰ Hear, O my son, and receive my sayings; and the years of thy life shall be many.

S21 ¹⁰ Ecoute-moi, mon fils, fais bon accueil à mes paroles
et les années de ta vie seront nombreuses.

KJV ¹¹ I have taught thee in the way of wisdom; I have led thee in right paths.

S21 ¹¹ Je t'enseigne la voie de la sagesse,
je te conduis dans les sentiers de la droiture.

KJV ¹² When thou goest, thy steps shall not be straitened; and when thou runnest, thou shalt not stumble.

S21 ¹² Pendant ta marche, ton pas ne sera pas gêné,
et si tu cours, tu ne trébucheras pas.

KJV ¹³ Take fast hold of instruction; let her not go: keep her; for she is thy life.

S21 ¹³ Attache-toi à l'instruction, ne la délaisse pas!
Garde-la, car elle est ta vie.

KJV ¹⁴ Enter not into the path of the wicked, and go not in the way of evil men.

S21 ¹⁴ N'emprunte pas le sentier des méchants
et ne t'avance pas sur le chemin des hommes mauvais.

KJV ¹⁵ Avoid it, pass not by it, turn from it, and pass away.

S21 ¹⁵ Evite-le, n'y passe pas!
Détourne-toi de lui et passe plus loin!

KJV ¹⁶ For they sleep not, except they have done mischief; and their sleep is taken away, unless they cause some to fall.

S21 ¹⁶ En effet, ils ne dorment pas tant qu'ils n'ont pas fait le mal,
le sommeil leur est enlevé s'ils n'ont pas fait trébucher quelqu'un.

KJV ¹⁷ For they eat the bread of wickedness, and drink the wine of violence.

S21 ¹⁷ Oui, le pain qu'ils mangent, c'est la méchanceté,
le vin qu'ils boivent, c'est la violence.

KJV ¹⁸ But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day.

S21 ¹⁸ Le sentier des justes ressemble à la lumière de l'aube:
son éclat grandit jusqu'au milieu du jour.

KJV ¹⁹ The way of the wicked is as darkness: they know not at what they stumble.

S21 ¹⁹ La voie des méchants ressemble aux ténèbres:
ils n'aperçoivent pas ce qui les fera trébucher.

KJV ²⁰ My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings.

S21 ²⁰ Mon fils, sois attentif à mes paroles,
tends l'oreille vers mes discours!

KJV ²¹ Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart.

S21 ²¹ Qu'ils ne s'éloignent pas de tes yeux!
Garde-les au fond de ton cœur,

KJV ²² For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh.

S21 ²² car ils apportent la vie à ceux qui les trouvent,
la guérison à tout leur corps.

KJV ²³ Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.

S21 ²³ Garde ton cœur plus que toute autre chose,
car de lui jaillissent les sources de la vie.

KJV ²⁴ Put away from thee a froward mouth, and perverse lips put far from thee.

S21 ²⁴ Ecarte de ta bouche la fausseté,
éloigne de tes lèvres les détours!

KJV ²⁵ Let thine eyes look right on, and let thine eyelids look straight before thee.

S21 ²⁵ Que tes yeux regardent bien en face
et que tes paupières se dirigent droit devant toi.

KJV ²⁶ Ponder the path of thy feet, and let all thy ways be established.

S21 ²⁶ *Fais une route droite pour tes pieds 
et que toutes tes voies soient bien sûres!

KJV ²⁷ Turn not to the right hand nor to the left: remove thy foot from evil.

S21 ²⁷ Ne dévie ni à droite ni à gauche
et détourne ton pied du mal.

KJV ¹ My son, attend unto my wisdom, and bow thine ear to my understanding:

S21 ¹ Mon fils, sois attentif à ma sagesse,
tends l'oreille vers mon intelligence,

KJV ² That thou mayest regard discretion, and that thy lips may keep knowledge.

S21 ² afin que tu conserves la réflexion
et que tes lèvres gardent la connaissance.

KJV ³ For the lips of a strange woman drop as an honeycomb, and her mouth is smoother than oil:

S21 ³ Certes, les lèvres de l'étrangère ruissellent de miel
et son palais est plus doux que l'huile,

KJV ⁴ But her end is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a two-edged sword.

S21 ⁴ mais à la fin elle est amère comme l'absinthe,
coupante comme une épée à deux tranchants.

KJV ⁵ Her feet go down to death; her steps take hold on hell.

S21 ⁵ Ses pieds descendent vers la mort,
ses pas aboutissent au séjour des morts.

KJV ⁶ Lest thou shouldest ponder the path of life, her ways are moveable, that thou canst not know them.

S21 ⁶ Elle se garde bien d'examiner le chemin de la vie.
Ses voies sont des voies d'errance, mais elle ne le sait pas.

KJV ⁷ Hear me now therefore, O ye children, and depart not from the words of my mouth.

S21 ⁷ Et maintenant, mes fils, écoutez-moi
et ne vous détournez pas des paroles de ma bouche!

KJV ⁸ Remove thy way far from her, and come not nigh the door of her house:

S21 ⁸ Passe loin de chez elle
et ne t'approche pas de la porte de sa maison!

KJV ⁹ Lest thou give thine honour unto others, and thy years unto the cruel:

S21 ⁹ Sinon tu livreras ta dignité à d'autres
et tes années à un mari sans pitié;

KJV ¹⁰ Lest strangers be filled with thy wealth; and thy labours be in the house of a stranger;

S21 ¹⁰ sinon des étrangers se rassasieront de ton bien
et du produit de ton travail dans la maison d'un autre;

KJV ¹¹ And thou mourn at the last, when thy flesh and thy body are consumed,

S21 ¹¹ sinon tu gémiras, près de ta fin,
quand ta chair et ton corps dépériront.

KJV ¹² And say, How have I hated instruction, and my heart despised reproof;

S21 ¹² Tu diras alors: «Comment donc ai-je pu détester l'instruction
et comment mon cœur a-t-il pu mépriser le reproche?

KJV ¹³ And have not obeyed the voice of my teachers, nor inclined mine ear to them that instructed me!

S21 ¹³ Comment ai-je pu ne pas écouter la voix de mes maîtres,
ne pas tendre l'oreille vers ceux qui m'instruisaient?

KJV ¹⁴ I was almost in all evil in the midst of the congregation and assembly.

S21 ¹⁴ Encore un peu et j'aurais été au comble du malheur
au milieu du peuple et de l'assemblée.»

KJV ¹⁵ Drink waters out of thine own cistern, and running waters out of thine own well.

S21 ¹⁵ Bois l'eau de ta citerne,
l'eau qui sort de ton puits!

KJV ¹⁶ Let thy fountains be dispersed abroad, and rivers of waters in the streets.

S21 ¹⁶ Tes sources doivent-elles se déverser à l'extérieur?
Tes ruisseaux doivent-ils couler sur les places publiques?

KJV ¹⁷ Let them be only thine own, and not strangers' with thee.

S21 ¹⁷ Qu'ils soient pour toi seul,
et non pour des étrangers avec toi.

KJV ¹⁸ Let thy fountain be blessed: and rejoice with the wife of thy youth.

S21 ¹⁸ Que ta source soit bénie,
fais ta joie de la femme de ta jeunesse,

KJV ¹⁹ Let her be as the loving hind and pleasant roe; let her breasts satisfy thee at all times; and be thou ravished always with her love.

S21 ¹⁹ biche des amours, gazelle pleine de grâce!
Que ses seins te rassasient constamment,
enivre-toi sans cesse de son amour!

KJV ²⁰ And why wilt thou, my son, be ravished with a strange woman, and embrace the bosom of a stranger?

S21 ²⁰ Pourquoi, mon fils, t'enivrerais-tu d'une étrangère
et embrasserais-tu la poitrine d'une inconnue?

KJV ²¹ For the ways of man are before the eyes of the LORD, and he pondereth all his goings.

S21 ²¹ En effet, les voies de l'homme sont devant les yeux de l'Eternel:
il examine tous ses sentiers.

KJV ²² His own iniquities shall take the wicked himself, and he shall be holden with the cords of his sins.

S21 ²² Le méchant est prisonnier de ses propres fautes,
il est retenu par les liens de son péché.

KJV ²³ He shall die without instruction; and in the greatness of his folly he shall go astray.

S21 ²³ Il mourra faute d'instruction,
c'est de l'excès de sa folie qu'il s'enivrera.

KJV ¹ My son, if thou be surety for thy friend, if thou hast stricken thy hand with a stranger,

S21 ¹ Mon fils, si tu t'es porté garant pour ton prochain,
si tu t'es engagé pour autrui,

KJV ² Thou art snared with the words of thy mouth, thou art taken with the words of thy mouth.

S21 ² si tu te trouves piégé par les paroles de ta bouche,
si tu es prisonnier de tes propres paroles,

KJV ³ Do this now, my son, and deliver thyself, when thou art come into the hand of thy friend; go, humble thyself, and make sure thy friend.

S21 ³ fais donc ceci, mon fils: dégage-toi,
puisque tu es tombé au pouvoir de ton prochain.
Va le supplier et insister auprès de lui,

KJV ⁴ Give not sleep to thine eyes, nor slumber to thine eyelids.

S21 ⁴ n'accorde ni sommeil à tes yeux
ni repos à tes paupières,

KJV ⁵ Deliver thyself as a roe from the hand of the hunter, and as a bird from the hand of the fowler.

S21 ⁵ dégage-toi comme la gazelle de la main du chasseur,
comme l'oiseau de la main de l'oiseleur.

KJV ⁶ Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise:

S21 ⁶ Va vers la fourmi, paresseux!
Observe son comportement et deviens sage:

KJV ⁷ Which having no guide, overseer, or ruler,

S21 ⁷ elle n'a ni chef,
ni inspecteur, ni supérieur;

KJV ⁸ Provideth her meat in the summer, and gathereth her food in the harvest.

S21 ⁸ en été elle prépare sa nourriture,
pendant la moisson elle récolte de quoi manger.

KJV ⁹ How long wilt thou sleep, O sluggard? when wilt thou arise out of thy sleep?

S21 ⁹ Paresseux, jusqu'à quand resteras-tu couché?
Quand te lèveras-tu de ton sommeil?

KJV ¹⁰ Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep:

S21 ¹⁰ Tu veux somnoler un peu, te reposer encore,
juste croiser les mains pour dormir?

KJV ¹¹ So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth, and thy want as an armed man.

S21 ¹¹ Voilà que la pauvreté te surprend comme un rôdeur,
et la misère comme un homme armé.

KJV ¹² A naughty person, a wicked man, walketh with a froward mouth.

S21 ¹² Le vaurien, l'homme injuste,
marche la fausseté aux lèvres.

KJV ¹³ He winketh with his eyes, he speaketh with his feet, he teacheth with his fingers;

S21 ¹³ Il lance des clins d'œil,
s'exprime du pied,
fait des signes avec ses doigts.

KJV ¹⁴ Frowardness is in his heart, he deviseth mischief continually; he soweth discord.

S21 ¹⁴ La perversité est dans son cœur,
il médite constamment le mal,
il provoque des conflits.

KJV ¹⁵ Therefore shall his calamity come suddenly; suddenly shall he be broken without remedy.

S21 ¹⁵ C'est pourquoi la ruine le surprendra soudain,
tout d'un coup il sera brisé sans remède.

KJV ¹⁶ These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him:

S21 ¹⁶ Il y a six choses que l'Eternel déteste,
et même sept dont il a horreur:

KJV ¹⁷ A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,

S21 ¹⁷ les yeux hautains,
la langue menteuse,
les mains qui versent le sang innocent,

KJV ¹⁸ An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief,

S21 ¹⁸ le cœur qui médite des projets injustes,
les pieds qui se dépêchent de courir au mal,

KJV ¹⁹ A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.

S21 ¹⁹ le faux témoin qui dit des mensonges
et celui qui provoque des conflits entre frères.

KJV ²⁰ My son, keep thy father's commandment, and forsake not the law of thy mother:

S21 ²⁰ Mon fils, garde le commandement de ton père
et ne rejette pas l'enseignement de ta mère!

KJV ²¹ Bind them continually upon thine heart, and tie them about thy neck.

S21 ²¹ Lie-les constamment sur ton cœur,
attache-les à ton cou!

KJV ²² When thou goest, it shall lead thee; when thou sleepest, it shall keep thee; and when thou awakest, it shall talk with thee.

S21 ²² Ils te dirigeront dans ta marche,
ils te garderont dans ton lit,
ils te parleront à ton réveil.

KJV ²³ For the commandment is a lamp; and the law is light; and reproofs of instruction are the way of life:

S21 ²³ En effet, le commandement est une lampe et l'enseignement une lumière,
et les avertissements de l'instruction sont le chemin de la vie.

KJV ²⁴ To keep thee from the evil woman, from the flattery of the tongue of a strange woman.

S21 ²⁴ Ils te préserveront de la femme mauvaise,
des flatteries de l'inconnue.

KJV ²⁵ Lust not after her beauty in thine heart; neither let her take thee with her eyelids.

S21 ²⁵ Ne convoite pas sa beauté dans ton cœur,
ne te laisse pas prendre par ses œillades!

KJV ²⁶ For by means of a whorish woman a man is brought to a piece of bread: and the adultress will hunt for the precious life.

S21 ²⁶ En effet, pour la femme prostituée on se réduit à un morceau de pain
et la femme mariée capture une vie précieuse.

KJV ²⁷ Can a man take fire in his bosom, and his clothes not be burned?

S21 ²⁷ Peut-on prendre du feu contre soi
sans que les habits ne s'enflamment?

KJV ²⁸ Can one go upon hot coals, and his feet not be burned?

S21 ²⁸ Peut-on marcher sur des charbons ardents
sans se brûler les pieds?

KJV ²⁹ So he that goeth in to his neighbour's wife; whosoever toucheth her shall not be innocent.

S21 ²⁹ Il en va de même pour celui qui s'approche de la femme de son prochain:
celui qui la touche ne restera pas impuni.

KJV ³⁰ Men do not despise a thief, if he steal to satisfy his soul when he is hungry;

S21 ³⁰ On ne méprise pas le voleur qui vole
pour s'alimenter, parce qu'il a faim,

KJV ³¹ But if he be found, he shall restore sevenfold; he shall give all the substance of his house.

S21 ³¹ mais, si on le trouve, il fait une restitution au septuple,
il donne tous les biens de sa maison.

KJV ³² But whoso committeth adultery with a woman lacketh understanding: he that doeth it destroyeth his own soul.

S21 ³² Celui qui commet un adultère avec une femme manque de bon sens.
Il veut se détruire lui-même, celui qui agit de cette manière:

KJV ³³ A wound and dishonour shall he get; and his reproach shall not be wiped away.

S21 ³³ il ne trouvera que blessures et déshonneur,
et sa honte ne s'effacera pas.

KJV ³⁴ For jealousy is the rage of a man: therefore he will not spare in the day of vengeance.

S21 ³⁴ En effet, la jalousie rend un homme furieux,
et il est sans pitié, le jour de la vengeance;

KJV ³⁵ He will not regard any ransom; neither will he rest content, though thou givest many gifts.

S21 ³⁵ il n'accepte aucune rançon
et il ne cède pas, même si tu multiplies les cadeaux.
